  • In this paper, an automatic pipe-cutting machine that uses magnet to attach itself to pipe and performs unmanned cutting process is proposed. The machine uses magnetic force to prevent slip and to attach the machine to the pipe against gravity. The magnetic force is adjustable by changing the gap between the magnet and the pipe. During pipe cutting process, the gravity acting on the pipe-cutting machine widely varies nonlinearly where the gravity is function of climbing angle of the cutting machine along the pipe. Data hiding technique using image pixel value and spatial encryption technique

  • In this paper, we proposed a technique for hiding the double-encrypted confidential data in the image using the pixel value of the image and the spatial encryption technique. The proposed technique inserts encrypted confidential data into the LSB of an image pixel in order to maintain high image quality. The stego-image generated by hiding the encrypted confidential data has very good quality and is visually indistinguishable from the original cover image, so that it is impossible to recognize whether the confidential data is hidden in the stego-image. It is possible to extract the original confidential data from the stego-image without loss. By conducting an experiment on the proposed technique, it was confirmed that the proposed technique is an effective technique for the practical application of data hiding. The proposed technique can be used in applications such as military and intellectual property protection that require high security.

Observational Study on Patient's Satisfactions and Quality of Life (QoL) Among Cancer Patients Receiving Treatment with Palliative Care Intent in a Tertiary Hospital in Malaysia

  • The main objective of palliative treatment for cancer patients has been to maintain, if not improve, the quality of life (QoL). There is a lack of local data on satisfaction and QoL among cancer patients receiving palliative treatment in Malaysia. This study covers patients with incurable, progressive cancer disease receiving palliative treatment in a teaching hospital in Kuala Lumpur, comparing the different components of QoL and correlations with patient satisfaction. A cross-sectional survey using Malay validated SF36 QoL and PSQ-18 (Short Form) tools was carried out between July 2012 -January 2013 with 120 cancer patients receiving palliative treatment, recruited into the study after informed consent using convenient sampling. Results showed that highest satisfaction were observed in Communication Aspect ($50.6{\pm}9.07$) and the least in General Satisfaction ($26.4{\pm}5.90$). The Mental Component Summary ($44.9{\pm}6.84$) scored higher when compared with the Physical Component Summary ($42.2{\pm}7.91$). In this study, we found that patient satisfaction was strongly associated with good quality of life among cancer patients from a general satisfaction aspect (r=0.232). A poor significant negative correlation was found in Physical Component (technical quality, r=-0.312). The Mental Component showed there was a poor negative correlation between time spent with doctor (r=-0.192) and accessibility, (r=-0.279). We found that feeling at peace and having a sense of meaning in life were more important to patients than being active or achieving good physical comfort. More studyis needed to investigate patients who score poorly on physical and mental component aspects to understand their needs in order to achieve better cancer care.

공급자 부품품질 향상을 위한 품질보증시스템 개선방안 (Enhancement of Quality Assurance System for Improving the Quality of Suppliers' Product)

  • A prerequisite for improving the quality of a product is to enhance the quality of its parts supplied from outsourced enterprises. An enterprise certified by ISO 9001 Quality Management System is expected to develop their effective quality assurance system and maintain it through continuous control and improvement, thereby ensuring the good quality of products that they produce. However, it is reported that small and medium-sized enterprises certified by ISO 9001 have difficulty establishing an effective quality assurance system. This study aims to propose a new method of improving a quality assurance system that can be more effective in small and medium-sized enterprises. This study collectively considered requirements specified in several international standards on quality system and the results of expert group brainstorming to identify evaluation areas and items for assessing a quality assurance system. Based on these evaluation areas and items, a set of checklists for diagnosing and improving a quality assurance system was developed. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method, this study applied it to ten small and medium-sized enterprises and could identify four approaches for improving their current quality assurance system. The presented improvement method, which consists of establishment of quality goals and quality innovation plan, defective products corrective activities, 4M and design change process, improvement of customer quality information management, is expected to be utilized as a useful tool for the enhancement of the quality assurance system of small and medium-sized enterprises.

발화력지수(醱化力指數)가 유리색조(色調)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effects of Glass Color Tone by Oxidation Power Index)

  • The most important element upon the quality of family glass products is the color of glass, which is the first object of consumers concern in purchasing. Therefore, colorless and transparent color tone can level up the additional value of the products. But we have produced the glass products in a large quantity by using the automatic tank brazier, chronic problem has been left over the color tone. By compounding and analizing the management techniques applied by peculiar technique and design of experiments pertinently, and by adjusting the decoloring composition ratio, we can contribute to improvement of color tone as well as to the cost reduction by diminishing the unnecessary decoloring agent. Intangible effect was the securing the superiority of quality home and abroad with the improvement of color tone and was taking a triangular position the factors influencing the glass decoloring which had been an unexhausted field. Tangible effect was the reduction of decoloring cost by diminishing the unnecessary oxidant. We registered the optimal composition ratio condition which was searched by applicating the design of experiments. To maintain good color tone, we manage the degree of purity, the most important thing among the items of color tone, continuously by control chart and it has maintained steady state now.

블렌칭과 $CaCl_2$ 첨가가 건식 절임법으로 제조한 오이지의 저장성 및 품질 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Blanching and $CaCl_2$ on the Quality Characteristics of Oiji Prepared by Dry Salting Method during Storage)

  • Effect of blanching and/or $CaCl_2$ addition on the quality characteristics of Oiji prepared by dry salting method, which has been used for industry, was investigated. Control$(15\%\;salt),\;CAO(15\%\;salt\;+\;0.04\%\;CaCl_2)$ and BCO $(15\%\;salt\;+\;0.04\%\;CaCl_2+blanching\;at\;60^{\circ}C\;for\;20\;min)$ for 165 days. Acidity was lower, but pH was higher in BCO than in the control or CAO. During the whole period of storage, greenness(-a) of BCO was maintained in Hunter color system, compared with the other groups. The numbers of total microbes, lactic acid bacteria and yeast were the lowest in BCO, while the highest in control. Moreover, texture profile analysis exhibited that fracturability and hardness maintained the highest in BCO during storage, compared with the other groups. Based on these results, combination of blanching and $CaCl_2$ addition is favorable to extend the shelf life and to maintain the good quality.

  • 중국의 급속한 경제성장과 가속화된 도시화에 따라 노동력의 이동성이 증가하였으며, 이에 따라 이주자의 거주지 선택과 거주 의도는 중국의 경제와 사회에 중요한 영향을 미치게 되었다. 본 연구는 대기오염이 도시간 이동한 사람들이 장기적으로 도시에 머무르려 하는지에 어떤 영향을 주는지 분석한다. 중국 도시간 이동한 사람들에 대한 서베이 자료와 도시 수준의 PM2.5로 대표되는 대기오염자료를 매칭함으로써, 회귀분석을 통해서 도시의 대기질을 좋은 곳으로 이동한 사람들은 해당 도시에 더 오래 남으려는 유인을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 본 연구결과를 통해서 대기질의 유지가 도시의 인구를 지속적으로 유지하는데 중요한 변수임을 알 수 있다.

고품질 쌀 생산을 위한 수확 후 관리기술 (Post Harvest Technology for High Quality Rice)

  • Post-harvest technology for rice was focused on in-bin drying system, which consists of about 100, 000 facilities in 1980s. The modernized Rice Processing Complex (RPC) and Drying Storage Center (DSC) became popular for rice dry, storage, process and distribution from 1990s. However, the percentage of artificial drying for rice is 48% (2001) and the ability of bulk storage is about 15%. Therefore it is necessary to build enough drying and bulk storage facilities. The definition of high quality rice is to satisfy both good appearance and good taste. The index for good taste in rice is a below 7% of protein, 17-20% of amylose, 15.5-16.5% of moisture contents and high concentration of Mg and K. To obtain a high quality rice, it is absolutely needed to integrate high technologies including breeding program, cropping methods, harvesting time, drying, storing and processing methodologies. Generally, consumers prefer to rice retaining below b value of 5 in colorimetry, and the whiteness, the hardness and the moisture contents of rice are in order of consumer preference in rice quality. By selection of rice cultivars according to acceptable quality, the periods between harvesting time and drying reduced up to about 20 days. Therefore it is necessary to develop a low temperature grain drying system in order to (1) increase the rate of artificial rice drying up to 85%, (2) keep the drying temperature of below 45C, (3) maintain high quality in rice and (4) save energy consumption. Bulk storage facilities with low temperature storage system (7-15C) for rice using grain cooler should be built to reduce labor for handling and transportation and to keep a quality of rice. In the cooled rice, there is no loss of grain quality due to respiration, insect and microorganism, which results in high quality rice containing 16% of moisture contents all year round. In addition, introducing a low temperature milling system reduced the percentage of broken rice to 2% and increased the percentage of head rice to 3% because of proper hardness of grain. It has been noted that the broken rice and cracking reduced significantly by using low pressure milling and wet milling. Our mission for improving rice market competitiveness goes to (1) produce environment friendly, functional rice cultivars, (2) establish a grade standard of rice quality, (3) breed a new cultivar for consumer oriented and (4) extend the period of storage and shelf life of rice during postharvest.

Comparative Analysis of Two Selective Bleaching Methods on Alpaca Fibers

  • Dark brown Alpaca fiber was reduced in shade via selective bleaching with peroxide. Two selective oxidative bleaching methods were tested on alpaca top to assess their effectiveness for color removal and fiber quality properties. Color change, bundle strength, weight loss, fiber diameter, surface modification, dye-ability and dye wash fastness were assessed for both methods and compared with the original brown top. Bleach method 1 (BL-I) showed little surface modification, 5.8% weight loss and 2.4% strength loss. D1925 yellowness index was reduced to 74.3 from 83.1 and provided a good base for the dyeing of medium to deep shades. Bleach method 2 (BL-II) displayed considerable surface modification, 7.8% weight loss and 18% strength loss. BL-II also resulted in a mean diameter reduction of 1.9 micron during bleaching. Yellowness was reduced to 64.5 from 83.1 and provided a very good base for the dyeing of medium to deep shades. BL-I showed better exhaustion of the premetallised dye Lanaset Violet B than BL-II. Wash fastness for BL-II was 1 grey scale unit poorer than BL-I. BL-II showed far better color clarity at pale depths however the wash fastness of the finished product was not good enough to maintain the depth or clarity of the color. BL-I showed poorer clarity of color but exhibited better wash fastness results.

DS-CDMA에서 개선된 SIR을 이용한 전력 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on Power Control with Improved SIR in DS-CDMA System)

  • 본 논문에서는 이동 통신 시스템에서의 PIC기법으로 간섭을 제거하여 개선된 SIR을 기반으로 하는 전력 제어 방식을 제안한다. 일반적으로 전력 제어는 SIR을 기반으로 하는 방식이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 이 방식은 시스템의 안정성을 떨어뜨리는 Positive Feedback 현상을 발생시킨다. 따라서 제안된 전력 제어 기법은 SIR의 변수인 간섭신호를 감소시켜 개선된 SIR을 기반으로 하는 전력제어를 수행하여 시스템의 안정화를 도모하였다. 또한 이동국에서 기존의 Up-Down전력 명령대신 Up-Maintain-Down기법을 이용하여 성능을 향상시켰다. 새로운 전력 제어 기법인 개선된 SIR방식과 기존의 방식을 모의 실험을 통하여 비교, 제안된 시스템의 성능 개선을 확인했다.
