Design of a Magnet Assembly for an NMR Based Sensor Using Finite Element Analysis

  • A magnet assembly is a critical element of a nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) based sensor. Magnetic flux density and homogeneity are essential to its optimum performance. Geometry and magnet material properties determine the magnetic flux density and homogeneity of the assembly. This study was carried out to develop the design for a magnet assembly. A 2-D finite element model for the magnetic assembly was developed using ANSYS and evaluated the effects of adding shimming frames and steel bars in the corners of the rectangular steel cover which surrounded the magnet. The assembly was manufactured and evaluated. According to the ANSYS model, modified pole frames increased magnetic flux density by 8.3% and increased homogeneity by 83%. Addition of steel bars in the corners increased the magnetic flux density by 1%, and improved homogeneity up to three times. The difference between simulated and measured magnetic flux densities at the center point of the air gap was within 2.4%.

디지털 홀 센서를 이용한 비접촉 임펠러 식별에 대한 연구 (A Study on Contactless Identification of Impellers Using a Digital Hall Sensor)

  • An impeller identification technique that is essential for adding viscosity measurement functions to overhead stirrers is presented in this study. Previous studies have revealed that using magnets facing the same poles arranged in a row can aid in distinguishing the types of impellers by detecting the number of magnets in a non-contact manner. However, as these previous studies measured the magnetic fields using analog Hall sensors, a converting circuit for the digital signals is required that can interface with the MCU. In this study, it was demonstrated that the number of magnets can be distinguished without using a separate conversion circuit by using a Hall sensor with a digital output. Owing to the unique hysteresis characteristics of digital Hall sensors, it was confirmed through experiments that the complex and diverse outputs appear depending on the direction of the magnetic field, the arrangement of magnetic poles, and the moving direction of the magnet. The measurement of the magnetic field showed that an edge signal equal to the number of magnets inserted into the impeller was detected when the radial direction was used, and the south pole was first approached.

A Three-dimensional Magnetic Field Mapping System for Deflection Yoke of Cathode-Ray Tube

  • In this paper, we introduce an efficient three-dimensional magnetic field mapping system for a Deflection Yoke (DY) in Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT). A three-axis Hall probe mounted in a small cylindrical bar and three-stepping motors placed in a non-magnetic frame were utilized for the mapping. Prior to the mapping starts, the inner contour of DY was measured by a laser sensor to make a look-up table for inner shape of DY. Three-axis magnetic fields are then digitized by a three-dimensional Hall probe. The results of the mapping can be transformed into various output formats such as multi pole harmonics of magnetic fields. Field shape in one, two and three- dimensional spaces can also be displayed. In this paper, we present the features of this mapping device and some analysis results.

Z축 선형 영구자석 동기전동기의 초기 자극위치 추정 알고리즘 (Initial Pole Position Estimation Algorithm of a Z-Axis PMLSM)

  • 본 논문에서는 홀센서와 같은 자극위치 센서를 사용하지 않는 Z축 선형 영구자석 동기전동기의 초기 자극위치 추정에 관한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 Z축의 경우에 존재하는 중력에 의한 자체하중의 영향을 고려하고, 부하질량 변동에 따른 추정특성 변화를 회피하기 위한 방법을 제시하며, 2단계로 구성되어 있다. 1단계에서는 미리 정한 각도 간격의 시험 q축에 전류를 인가하여 구한 이동거리를 사용하여 근사적인 q축을 추정한다. 2단계에서는 1단계의 추정치를 초기치로 이용하며, 부하질량의 영향을 받지 않도록 하기 위하여 3개의 시험 q축에 인가한 전류에 따른 추력에 대응하는 값을 이용하여 자극위치를 정밀하게 추정한다. 그리고 Z축 PMLSM에 대한 실험 결과를 통하여 제안된 초기 자극위치 추정방법으로 부하질량 조건에 관계없이 정밀하게 자극위치를 추정함을 검증하였다.

인덕턴스 특성을 이용한 자기부상계의 변위 측정의 한 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Displacement Measurement Method of Magnetic Levitation System Applying the Inductance Characteristic)

  • The magnetic levitation system has great advantages, such as little friction, no lubrication, no noise and so on. But the magnetic levitation system need a stabilizing controller because it is a unstable, system in natural and it need a sensor for displacement measurement to control the system. In this paper, we proposed a sensorless method to measure the gap between the magnetic pole and the levitated object with application the inductance characteristic which vary according to gap. We made a driving circuit which supply simultaneously the control input PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal and the carrier PWM signal to estimate the gap. Because the inductance is a function of gap, and the current of the carrier signal is a function of the inductance, we could estimate the gap from the measurement of the current of the carrier signal. Finally, we investigated the validity of the proposed method through the experimental results.

  • 선박의 방위정보를 제공하는 장비로 자이로콤파스, 마그네틱콤파스, GPS콤파스가 있으며 자동조타기에는 필수적인 요소이다. 지자기센서는 철로 제작된 선박의 구조물 등과 같은 자성물질과 파도에 의한 방위오차 변동이 심하게 나타나며 지자기 센서가 검출하는 자극은 진북 또는 남극과 일치하지 않으므로 검출되는 방위값은 필연적으로 오차를 수반할 수밖에 없다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 방위 정보의 변화에 영향을 주는 요인에 대한 방위정보의 요란에 대하여 최소변화 방위를 검색하기 위해 칼만 필터링 기법을 활용하여 각각의 단점을 보완하는 방식으로 지자기센서와 GPS수신기를 이용하여 병행알고리즘의 전자콤파스를 구현하였다.

  • 산업자동화에 적합한 구형파 구동 BLDC 영구자석 전동기 설계 및 개발, 위치검출방식 회로와 드라이버 개발에 관심이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 이 전동기는 스위칭 손실에 의한 효율 저하 및 진동, 소음 등으로 인하여 가격적·기능적인 장점에도 불구하고 그 응용에 있어서는 다소 제한적인 실정이다. BLDC 모터를 설계하고 조립하는 과정에 있어 자기회로 설계의 문제 또는 조립과정상의 제품 불 균일 등으로 인하여 자극 각이 균일하지 않거나 자속분포가 왜현되는 문제가 발생하는데, 이러한 것들이 위치검출 어긋남의 원인이 되어 모터 특성을 악화시킨다. 또한 위치센서로부터 발생된 신호가 정확히 드라이버로 피드백 되어야만 정현파 구동 BLDC 시스템이 안정적으로 동작할 수 있다. 그러나 발생된 신호가 외부의 영향인 자속밀도 편차나 착자 기술에 의해 DC offset 성분이 발생하여 안정적인 위치검출을 할 수 없기에 본 연구에서는 DC offset 성분을 제거할 수 있는 제안된 회로를 연구하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, a levitation controller for a magnetic levitation(MagLev) system is designed and implemented. The target to be controlled is PEM(permanent and electromagnet) type with 4-corners levitation which is open-loop unstable, highly non-linear and time-varying system. The digital control system consists of a VME-based CPU board, AD board, PU board, 4-Quadrant chopper, and gap sensor, accelerometer as feedback sensors. In order to estimate the velocity of the magnet, we used 2nd-order state observer with acceleration and gap signal as input and output, respectively. Using the estimated states, a state feedback control law for the plant is designed and the feedback gains are selected by using the pole-placement method. The designed controller is experimentally validated by step-type gap reference change and force disturbance test.

  • This paper propose a method to detect the rotor position of IPMSM(Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor) at standstill without a position sensor. The proposed method is based on current variation caused by the magnetic saturation of stator core as rotor position. By choosing an appropriate voltage vector and applying it to phase winding, it enables the algorithm to discern between a north pole and south pole, and subsequently estimates an absolute position. This method dose not depend on the model of the motor and the motor parameter.

자기적 안내제어시스템을 이용하는 굴절차량의 위치 및 방위각 추정 (Position and Orientation Estimation of a Maneticalluy Guided-Articulated Vehicle)

  • For automated guidance control of a magnetically guided-all wheel steered vehicle, it is necessary to have information about position and orientation of the vehicle, and deviations from the reference path in real time. The magnet reference system considered here consists of three magnetic sensors mounted on the vehicle and magnetic markers, which are non-equidistantly buried in the road. This paper presents an observer to estimate such position and orientation at the center of gravity of the vehicle. This algorithm is based on the simple kinematic model of vehicle and uses the data of wheel velocity, steering angle, and the discrete measurements of marker positions. Since this algorithm requires the exact values of initial states, we have also proposed an algorithm of determining the initial position and orientation from the 16 successive magnet pole data, which are given by the magnetic measurement system(MMS). The proposed algorithm is capable of continuing to estimate for the case that the magnetic sensor fail to measure up to three successive magnets. It is shown through experimental data that the proposed algorithm works well within permissible error range.
