  • The magnetic levitation system is utilized in the magnetic bearing of high-speed rotor because of little friction, no lubrication, no noise and so on. The magnetic levitation system need the feedback controller for the stabilization of system, and gap sensors are generally used to measure the gap. The use of gap sensors brings out the increase of the number of troublesome, and the decrease of the control performance because of the dislocation between the measurement point and the control point. This paper presents the design of the gap estimation circuit for the sensorless method proposed by authors in the magnetic levitation system. We made the gap estimation circuit which was composed of both the superposition circuit and the measuring circuit. And we investigated the validity of the usefulness of the proposed sensorless method in the magnetic levitation system through results of actual experiment.

  • This paper deals with the device for measuring the time-varying magnetic fields and induced voltages caused by lightning discharges. The two magnetic field measuring systems were designed and made. One consists of the loop-type magnetic field sensor with the active integrator operated by a differential amplifier. The other consists of the loop-type magnetic field sensor and Labview software. The loop-type magnetic field sensor detects the time derivative of the magnetic field being measured, and the signal detected is integrated by the Labview software. As a consequence, from the calibration experiments, the frequency bandwidth of the full measuring system ranges from 400 [Hz] to 1 (MHz) and the response sensitivity are 0.98 (mV/nT) and 22 (mV/nT) for the magnetic field sensor of 2 turns and 6 turns, respectively. Also, the results obtained by the two measuring devices well agreed with each other.

  • This paper describes the developed sensor for measuring the time-varying magnetic fields and presents the characteristics of the magnetic fields and presents the characteristics of the magnetic field generated by lighting a fluorescent lamp. The frequency bandwidth of magnetic field measurement system is kknown as 40 Hz∼100 kHz by means of calibration experiment. The magnetic field waveform which originates from the various lighting systems was measured and the frequency components were analyzed by fast Fourier transformation technique. The magnetic field generated during the operation of the fluorescent lamp mainly includes the odd harmonics, and in the case\ulcorner of push button switch and high frequency starter types the fast transient component is occurred in an instant of lighting.

  • We prepared Co-Cr-Ta and Co-Cr-Ta/Ti thin film for perpendicular magnetic recording media by facing targets sputtering system (FTS system). Ti underlayer effects on crystallographic and magnetic characteristics of Co-Cr-Ta perpendicular magnetic recording media have been investigated. Crystallgraphic and magnetic characteristic of prepared thin films were evaluated by x-ray diffractometry(XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM) and kerr hysteresis loop measurement. The coercivity and anisotropy field increase by introduced Ti underlayer when substrate temperature is higher than 150$^{\circ}C$. The c-axis dispersion angle and grain size of Co-Cr-Ta/Ti thin film is decrease than Co-Cr-Ta when substrate temperature is higher than 100$^{\circ}C$. Consequently, the use of a Ti underlayer highly orientated can be improved crystallographic and magnetic characteristics of Co-Cr -Ta perpendicular media layer.

  • We have experimentally demonstrated circular polarization generation from linear polarized soft X-ray at synchrotron by adopting a thin magnetic film polarizer. Polarizer is composed of Co/Pt multilayer with a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, which allows us to easily accommodate without needing any tilting angle into the measurement setup since the circular polarization is generated for the X-ray with normal incidence and transmission. Generated circular polarization is examined by observing magnetic domain features based on the X-ray magnetic circular dichroism, where~11% of circular component is estimated compared to the case of full circular polarization.

  • The magnetic anisotropy field plays an important role in spin-orbit-torque-induced magnetization dynamics with electric current injection. Here, we propose a magnetometric technique to measure the magnetic anisotropy field in nanostructured ferromagnetic thin films. This technique utilizes a magneto-optical Kerr effect microscope equipped with two-axis electromagnets. By measuring the out-of-plane hysteresis loops and then analyzing their saturated magnetization with respect to the in-plane magnetic field, the magnetic anisotropy field is uniquely quantified within the context of the Stoner-Wohlfarth theory. The present technique can be applied to small nanostructures, enabling in-situ determination of the magnetic anisotropy field of nanodevices.

  • Clotting properties of human blood are important clinical information to monitor for patients with platelet and coagulation disorders. Most devices used to diagnose these disorders utilize blood plasma together with tissue factors and $Ca^{{+}{+}}$ additives. In some instruments, magnetic particles were mixed with blood samples and a rotating magnetic field was applied, resulting in the rotation of magnetic particles, which was probed by impinging light. The working principle seems obvious yet had not been investigated in depth. We modeled the collective behavior of light propagating through magnetic needles, aligned in the direction of the rotating external magnetic field, with scattering light analysis software. Simulation results indicated that the scattering pattern undergoes periodic undulations with respect to the slant angle of the magnetic needles. Also provided is a means of extracting meaningful information from the scattering measurement.
