  • A navigation sensor system for outdoor AGV(Automatic Guided Vehicle) using AMR(Anisotropic Magnetoresitive) sensors is described. We derive a formula of the position of AMR sensor using the measured magnetic field intensity due to permanent magnet with constant distance. The system consists of sensor board. sensor control board and position processing board. The sensor board measures magnetic field intensity, the sensor control board controls the measurement of six sensors sequentially, and the position processing board computes the accurate position of the permanent magnet using Least Square Method. We arranged six sensors at intervals of 30cm and measured the position of the permanent magnet moving at intervals of 30cm. Experimental results showed that we can get standard deviation of 2mm and error of &\pm&4.5mm at a height of 20cm from the permanent magnet.

  • This paper presents a system for estimating the position of a magnet using a magnetic sensor. An algorithm is presented to analyze the waveform and output voltage values of the magnetic field generated at each position when the magnet moves and to estimate the position of the magnet based on the analyzed data. Here, the magnet is sufficiently small to be inserted into a blood vessel and has a micro-magnetic field of hundreds of nanoteslas owing to the small size and shape of the guide wire. In this study, a highly sensitive magneto-impedance (MI) sensor was used to detect these micro-magnetic fields. Nine MI sensors were arranged in a 3×3 configuration to detect a magnetic field that changes according to the position of the magnet through the MI sensor, and the voltage value output was polynomially regressed to specify a position value for each voltage value. The accuracy was confirmed by comparing the actual position value with the estimated position value by expanding it from a 1D straight line to a 3D space. Additionally, we could estimate the position of the magnet within a 3% error.

  • This paper presents a sensor system which recognizes the location of a magnet using cheap hall sensor. The proposed methods measure magnetic field from a magnet using model equation, analyze the property of horizontal and vertical magnetic field, and decide the method of sensor arrangement. And, this paper proposes the algorithm which infers the location of a magnet from the measured magnetic field that relates the position between the magnet and the hall sensor, and calculate theoretical error, which is found to be no more than 0.0025cm. The results actually measured show that the measured error no more than 0.07cm and confirm that proposed systems are highly applicable to the various situations.

  • Semiconductor piezoresistive type vibration sensor was fabricated by using semiconductor process and micromachining technology. To measure the micro electromagnetic force between coil and magnet, fabricated vibration sensor was used. Toapply micro electromagnetic force produced from the micro exciter, small-sized NdFeB permanent magnet was attached on the mass of the fabricated vibration sensor. The measured electromagnetic force are about 5~180dyne when the applied sinusoidal current of 1KHz in the range of 1.5~8mA. The measurement of micro electromagnetic forcewas performed by changing the distance between coil and magnet. Output characteristics of micro electromagnetic force according to the applied coil current were linear. Furthermore, output results were used to get the transfer constant that is important to decide the efficiency and the performance of the coil and magnet.

  • In Brushless DC Motor, there are Permanent Magnets (PMs) with driving circuit and sensor for detecting to rotor position and rotation speed. In the case of using hall IC sensor which response to magnetic flux, that is required to additional sensor magnet for rotor position detecting. Most of BLDC motor, However, take asymmetrical overhang of PM in rotor instead of additional sensor magnet for operating of hall IC sensor. The asymmetrical overhang of PM occur rotor thrust to z-axis direction that is lead to not only damage of bearing but also intensive noise and vibration. Therefore, the analysis of magnet overhang effect in the side of vibration and drive to hall If sensor is required to precise. In this paper, 2-D Finite Element Method is used to solve precise field computation and thrust of z-axis direction considering asymmetrical magnet overhang. And also the z-axis thrust from the analysis result is compared to experimental result. In conclusion, the purpose of this paper minimize to noise and vibration of BLDC Motor as analyzes to asymmetrical magnet overhang effect.

  • A magent console is critical element since its homogeneity is essential to the performance of a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) based sensor. Geometry and properties of magnet materials determine the magnetic flux density and homogeneity of the console. This study is carried out to develop a design scheme of the magnet console using ANSYS to reduce the design error of the magnet console compared . To enhance the performance of the magnet console, corner steel was proposed and validated by simulation and manufactured one. The corner steel increased the magnetic flux density (B) by about 1% and enhanced homogeneity by approximately 3 times. There was about 3% difference between simulated and measured B values.

  • This paper deals with the detection method of the Quench phenomenon for superconducting magnet using the Acoustic Emission (AE) sensor. AE sensor is the elements, which is used to change the Acoustic signal to the voltage value. This signal may be used to detect whether the superconducting magnet has been at the Quench state or not. Recently, the development of the Quench detection technique, which is the using voltage and current signals, fiber-optic sensor, and so on, for the superconducting applications is widely studying. This method for the Quench detection of the superconducting magnet is also studying at some kinds of institute in Japan and the united state. Because of the large-scale superconducting magnet like International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor(ITER) is charged a lot of energy, when the Quench phenomenon is being at the superconducting magnet it is happen to the problem of the protection for the applications. In this paper, we concluded that the Quench detection was possible when the mechanical stress by means of the local heat is generated at the part of inside superconducting magnets.

  • This paper proposes a rotary magnetic position sensor which has a sinusoidally magnetized permanent magnet with a small number of poles. To make the sinusoidal magnetic flux density distribution from the permanent magnet, a magnetizing future is optimized by the DOE(Design of Experiments) method. The magnetization process is analyzed using the Preisach model and 2 dimensional finite element method. The magnetic flux density distribution from the magnetized permanent magnet is very similar to ideal sine wave. The simulation result of the magnetic flux density distribution is compared with the experimental one. Also the availability of the proposed rotary type magnetic position sensor is confirmed by position calculation technique.

  • In this study, the ellipsoidal cap type magnetic pole structure was proposed for the electro-magnet in B-H curve tracer. From the simulation for the electro-magnet without specimen, the area of effective uniform field(99% range for the central field value) was considerably increased in case of the newly proposed ellipsoidal cap type magnetic pole than that of the conventional simple-inclined cap type magnetic pole. Also, through the simulation for the electro-magnet with permanent magnet specimen(NaFe30), the optimal Positions of the magnetic field measurement sensor(Hall sensor) were found out in each case and the errors were decreased in case of the newly proposed ellipsoidal cap type magnetic pole.

  • A magnetostrictive sensor is used to measure stress waves propagating in a ferromagnetic cylinder without physical contact. The performance of a magnetostrictive sensor is affected most significantly by the bias magnetic field applied around the measurement location. The goal of this paper is to carry out the topology optimization of the bias magnet and yoke assembly to maximize the sensor output for traveling bending waves. We will use the multi-resolution topology optimization strategy to find the assembly of the bias magnet and the yoke that is easy to realize. The effectiveness of the present design is confirmed by an actual measurement of the sensor signal with the proposed bias magnet and yoke configuration.
