The array equations are commonly used for analysis and conceptual design of active sonar projector arrays. Calculation of the radiation impedance matrix poses a major computational bottleneck for the solution of the array equations, which leads to a dramatic increase in computational load as the number of constituent transducers increases. Here, we propose an iteration-based solution method that does not require the calculation of the radiation impedance matrix, as a computationally efficient alternative to the status quo. The validity of the iteration-based analysis is judged against the full finite-element analysis that includes the entire array as well as the medium. The array equations for the 1/3-sector of a cylindrical array comprised of 48 Tonpilz transducers are augmented by the lumped element models, and are solved iteratively for the acoustic and electro-mechanical characteristics. The iteration-based analysis exhibits rapid convergence and accuracy comparable with the FE analysis. Simulations also reveal that the acoustic coupling between transducers has more pronounced effects on the electro-mechanical characteristics of individual transducers than the acoustic performance of the array.

In this paper, we designed more improving a dual-band power amplifier than the transceiver of RFID reader that operates at 910 MHz and 2.45 GHz. A dual-band power amplifier has two circuits. One matching circuit is composed lumped element in the band of 910 MHz. The other matching circuit using distributed element in the high band of 2.45 GHz. So, this dual-band power amplifier works as Band Rejection Filter in the band of 910 MHz but in the high band of 2.45 GHz works as Band Pass Filter. Therefore, this is composed a microstrip transmission line. A power amplifier is showed gains of 8 dB output power at 910 MHz and 1.5 dB output power at 2.45 GHz. If input power is 10 dBm, both of bands output 20 dBm.

A modified half wavelength loaded line antenna is designed and implemented for mobile terminal applications. The antenna is constructed with a radiating element of half wavelength loaded line structure, dielectric substrate, feeding post and two shorting posts on the experimental PCB. The shorting posts are located at each side of the radiating element and lumped inductance elements are on between each shorting post and ground of PCB. By controlling value of inductors, one can adjust resonant frequency and input impedance respectively. Within inductance value of 12 nH, the antenna can have wide operating range of $1,470\~2,660\;MHz$ and good impedance matching. The measured peak gains are between -0.45 dBi and 2.03 dBi for the operating band.

In this study, a wrapping program was developed to analyze a proportional solenoid valve more easily using a conventional finite element method (FEM) tool. To achieve an accurate solution when analyzing a solenoid valve, finite element analysis (FEA) is more suitable than a lumped method. To develop a program for modeling and analyzing the valve performance using FEA code for the user's convenience, it is assumed that the solenoid valve is composed of some simple geometries, namely, a triangle and a rectangle. This assumption helps users to model a solenoid valve simply. To check the feasibility of the developed code, an actual solenoid valve is analyzed, and it is found that the code can suitably analyze this valve. The characteristics of the proportional valve are well identified as indicated through the graphs.

In this paper, a novel design for a dual-band negative group delay circuit (NGDC) is proposed. Composite right/left-handed (CRLH) ${\lambda}/4$ short stubs are employed as a dual-band resonator. A CRLH ${\lambda}/4$ short stub is composed of a typical transmission line element as the right-handed component and a high-pass lumped element section as the left-handed component. It is possible to simultaneously obtain open impedances at two separate frequencies by the combination of distinctive phase responses of the right/left-handed components. Negative group delay (NGD) can be obtained at two frequencies by using dual-band characteristics of the CRLH stub. In order to achieve a bandwidth extension, the proposed structure consists of a two-stage dual-band NGDC with different center frequencies connected in a cascade. According to the experiment performed, with wide-band code division multiple access (WCDMA) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), NGDs of $-3.0{\pm}0.4$ ns and $-3.1{\pm}0.5$ ns are obtained at 2.12~2.16 GHz and 3.46~3.54 GHz, respectively.

This work presents a new method for enhancing the performance of a dual band Planer Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) and its lumped equivalent circuit formulation. The performance of a PIFA in terms of return loss, bandwidth, gain, and efficiency is improved with the addition of the proposed open stub in the radiating element of the PIFA without disturbing the operating resonance frequencies of the antenna. In specific cases, various simulated and fabricated PIFA models illustrate that the return loss, bandwidth, gain, and efficiency values of antennas with longer optimum open stub lengths can be enhanced up to 4.6 dB, 17%, 1.8 dBi, and 12.4% respectively, when compared with models that do not have open stubs. The proposed open stub is small and does not interfere with the surrounding active modules; therefore, this method is extremely attractive from a practical implementation point of view. The second presented work is a simple procedure for the development of a lumped equivalent circuit model of a dual band PIFA using the rational approximation of its frequency domain response. In this method, the PIFA's measured frequency response is approximated to a rational function using a vector fitting technique and then electrical circuit parameters are extracted from it. The measured results show good agreement with the electrical circuit results. A correlation study between circuit elements and physical open stub lengths in various antenna models is also discussed in detail; this information could be useful for the enhancement of the performance of a PIFA as well as for its systematic design. The computed radiated power obtained using the electrical model is in agreement with the radiated power results obtained through the full wave electromagnetic simulations of the antenna models. The presented approach offers the advantage of saving computation time for full wave EM simulations. In addition, the electrical circuit depicting almost perfect characteristics for return loss and radiated power can be shared with antenna users without sharing the actual antenna structure in cases involving confidentiality limitations.

The KMRR 4-wheel crane which has a span of 30.6m long shall be designed to maintain its structural integrity during and after seismic shocks. Horizontal and vertical FRS for OBE and SSE conditions at the crane support are after seismic shock. Horizontal and vertical FRS for analysis are 4% for OBE and 7% for SSE. The crane consists of girder, saddle main and auxiliary trolley, and necessaries. They are modeled as beam elements and lumped masses for the following 4 cases ; trolley at center of the crane with and without the rated load, trolley at end with and without the rated load. The static analysis as well as the linear dynamic analysis including frequency and response spectrum analysis are performed for the seismic qualification of the crane using the Finite Element Method. For the simplicity of the analysis, the decoupling criteria are considered for the crane rope and the crane supporting beams. The main sections of the crane are stiffened until the calculated stresses satisfy the allowable limits. The seismic resultant loads are used to design the seismic restraints of the saddle and the trolley to protect the clue from the seismic uplifting loads the study results have show that the seismic design of the KMRR crane is governed by the OBE condition. not by the SSE condition. This paper briefly describes the analysis procedure used in the seismic design of the KMRR crane, and summarizes the analysis results.
This paper proposes a new improved lumped element equivalent circuit analysis method to analyze withdrawal weighted SAW resonators of irregular electrode configurations, which enables to calculate the frequency response of withdrawal weighted SAW resonators. This method has led to the derivation of Smith equivalent circuit's y-parameters for a single ground electrode and formulated the resonator's admittance by calculating the total current into an IDT assembly. To illustrate the effectiveness of the technique, this method was applied to the design of a simple ladder filter and the change of the filter performance was investigated in relation to the weighting of the series and parallel resonators, respectively. The results shows that the withdrawal weighted resonator ladder filters provide better performance in their bandwidth and transition characteristics than normal ones. This new equivalent circuit analysis method can also serve as a better tool to design and analyze general SAW resonator filters.

Robust semi-active vibration control of wind turbines using tuned mass dampers (TMDs) is a promising technique. This study investigates a 1.5 megawatt wind turbine controlled by eight different types of tuned mass damper systems of equal mass: a passive TMD, a semi-active varying-spring TMD, a semi-active varying-damper TMD, a semi-active varying-damper-and-spring TMD, as well as these four damper systems paired with an additional smaller passive TMD near the mid-point of the tower. The mechanism and controllers for each of these TMD systems are explained, such as employing magnetorheological dampers for the varying-damper TMD cases. The turbine is modelled as a lumped-mass 3D finite element model. The uncontrolled and controlled turbines are subjected to loading and operational cases including service wind loads on operational turbines, seismic loading with service wind on operational turbines, and high-intensity storm wind loads on parked turbines. The displacement and acceleration responses of the tower at the first and second mode shape maxima were used as the performance indicators. Ultimately, it was found that while all the semi-active TMD systems outperformed the passive systems, it was the semi-active varying-damper-and-spring system that was found to be the most effective overall - capable of controlling vibrations about as effectively with only half the mass as a passive TMD. It was also shown that by reducing the mass of the TMD and adding a second smaller TMD below, the vibrations near the mid-point could be greatly reduced at the cost of slightly increased vibrations at the tower top.
In this paper, the design of piezoelectric Micro-machined Ultrasonic Transducer (pMUT) for wideband ultrasonic radiation in air was investigated. One of the methods to achieve wide frequency bandwidth in single device is modeling the transducer to multi-resonance system. The new pMUT was designed as a multi-resonance system with the addition of a suitable acoustic structure to the front and back of a thin film structure. A new pMUT consisting of thin film parts, radiation parts, and packaging parts is designed with a Lumped Parameter Model (L.P.M). Finally, it was validated as a Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation. The final designed pMUT achieved a frequency band of 102 kHz ~ 132 kHz (-3 dB).
