오디오용 24bit 시그마-델타 D/A 컨버터 구현 (Implementation of 24bit Sigma-delta D/A Converter for an Audio)

  • 본 논문은 고 해상도 및 저 전력을 가지는 시그마-델타 D/A(Digital-to-Analog) 컨버터를 구현하였다. A/D 컨버터의 출력을 채널당 1비트씩 입력 받아 LJ, RJ, I2S 모드와 비트 모드에 따라서 입력 데이터를 재구성한다. D/A 컨버터는 HBF(Half Band Filter)와 Hold, 5차 CIFB Sigma-Delta 변조기를 통과하여 원래의 아날로그 신호로 복원한다. 면적과 전력, 성능을 고려하여 곱셈 연산 대신 덧셈 연산을 반복 사용하였다. 또한, 비슷한 구조의 HBF 3개를 하나의 블록으로 구성하였고, sinc 필터 대신에 샘플-홀드 블록을 사용하여, 면적을 감소시키는 간략한 D/A 구조를 제안하였다. 블록안의 각 필터들은 매트랩 툴을 이용하여 특성을 평가하였다. 전체 블록은 Top-down 설계 방식을 사용하여, Verilog 언어로 설계하였다. 설계된 블록은 Samsung 0.35um CMOS 표준 셀 라이브러리를 사용해 칩으로 제작되었다. 칩의 면적은 1500 * 1500um 이다.

CRW 비행체 덕트 시스템 설계를 위한 CFD의 활용 (The Application of CFD for the Duct System Design of CRW aircraft)

  • The Canard rotor/wing (CRW) aircraft concepts offer great potential for application by allowing the use of a common propulsion system for high-speed cruise and low-speed powered lift. Using the rotor for lift in both flight modes increases its utility. In the hovering mode, the exhausted gas from an gas turbine engine is accelerated through the duct system and it provides the tipjet power for rotor system enough to lift the aircraft. In the cruise mode, the rotor is fixed and the exhausted gas is extracted through the main nozzle, such that the aircraft is able to flight with high speed. The duct system was designed using 1-D fanno line flow theory and empirical data. However, the empirical data of the pressure loss coefficient for various bending and dividing ducts were not enough to design our duct system adaptively. Therefore, using 3-D CFD analysis we obtained the pressure loss coefficient for our duct models and chose the appropriate bending or diving duct type. In this paper, we used the CFD-ACE+ software package for the CFD analysis and the modeling of duct system. Through the 3-D CFD analysis, we investigated also the pressure loss and the velocity distributions of the designed whole duct system as well as the blade duct. Comparing the 3-D CFD result with 1-D analysis result, we lessened the uncertainty of the designed duct system and speculated the problem that was not concerned in design state.

ZnO/3C-SiC/Si(100) 다층박막구조에서의 표면탄성파 전파특성

  • Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices have become more important as mobile telecommunication systems need h호-frrequency, low-loss, and down-sized components. Higher-frequency SAW divices can be more sasily realized by developing new h호-SAW-velocity materials. The ZnO/diamond/Si multilasyer structure is one of the most promising material components for GHz-band SAW filters because of its SAW velocity above 10,000 m/sec. Silicon carbide is also a potential candidate material for high frequency, high power and radiation resistive electronic devices due to its superior mechanical, thermal and electronic properties. However, high price of commercialized 6- or 4H-SiC single crystalline wafer is an obstacle to apply SiC to high frequency SAW devices. In this study, single crystalline 3C-SiC thin films were grown on Si (100) by MOCVD using bis-trimethylsilymethane (BTMSM, C7H20Si7) organosilicon precursor. The 3C-SiC film properties were investigated using SEM, TEM, and high resolution XRD. The FWHM of 3C-SiC (200) peak was obtained 0.37 degree. To investigate the SAW propagation characteristics of the 3C-SiC films, SAW filters were fabricated using interdigital transducer electrodes on the top of ZnO/3C-SiC/Si(100), which were used to excite surface acoustic waves. SAW velocities were calculated from the frequency-response measurements of SAW filters. A generalized SAW mode. The hard 3C-SiC thin films stiffened Si substrate so that the velocities of fundamental and the 1st mode increased up to 5,100 m/s and 9,140 m/s, respectively.

SIVCP용 BLE 모듈의 배터리 수명시험 (Lifetime test of batteries for BLE modules for site identification of vessel's crews and passengers (SIVCP))

  • 오늘날 선박 내 승선자의 위치인식과, 이를 모니터링을 하는 데 저 전력 근거리 통신시스템이 많이 개발되고 있으며, 이러한 저 전력 근거리 통신을 위해서 BLE, Zigbee 등과 같은 저 전력 통신 모듈이 이용되고 있다. 저 전력 통신 모듈은 1:N 통신이 가능하고, 휴대폰, 인체 등의 이동 물체에 탑재할 수 있어 각광을 받고 있다. 저 전력 통신모듈을 사용하는 데 있어서, 배터리의 용량이나 크기가 각각 시스템의 작동시간이나 통신모듈의 디자인에 중요한 요소가 된다. 따라서 모듈은 가급적 작게 만들어져야 하고, 배터리는 모듈의 크기보다 더 작게 선정되는 것이 바람직하다. 본 논문에서는 전송률 1/250 조건에서 데이터 시트와 방전특성 그래프를 참조하여 SIVCP용 BLE 모듈에 사용되고 있는 배터리의 이론 수명을 산출하고, 위와 동일한 전송률과 1/5000 전송률의 조건에서 각각 송전전류와 저속모드 전류를 검출하여 실험수명을 산출하며, 전송률을 1/25로 하여 수일 동안 고속 방전 장기 실험수명을 측정한다. 이와 같은 실험을 통하여, 배터리의 수명예측과 수명연장 방법을 실험적으로 검증하고, 이를 선박의 용도와 승객의 유형에 따른 적절한 배터리 선정에 활용하고자 한다. 모듈의 전송률과 배터리 크기 선정은 모듈의 설계비용의 감소, 배터리 유지관리 및 승객의 편의 등에 중요한 영향을 미치는 요소가 된다.

TASL: A Traffic-Adapted Sleep/Listening MAC Protocol for Wireless Sensor Network

  • In this paper, we proposed TASL-MAC, a medium-access control (MAC) protocol for wireless sensor networks. In wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes are usually deployed in a special environment, are assigned with long-term work, and are supported by a limited battery. As such, reducing the energy consumption becomes the primary concern with regard to wireless sensor networks. At the same time, reducing the latency in multi-hop data transmission is also very important. In the existing research, sensor nodes are expected to be switched to the sleep mode in order to reduce energy consumption. However, the existing proposals tended to assign the sensors with a fixed Sleep/Listening schedule, which causes unnecessary idle listening problems and conspicuous transmission latency due to the diversity of the traffic-load in the network. TASL-MAC is designed to dynamically adjust the duty listening time based on traffic load. This protocol enables the node with a proper data transfer rate to satisfy the application's requirements. Meanwhile, it can lead to much greater power efficiency by prolonging the nodes' sleeping time when the traffic. We evaluate our implementation of TASL-MAC in NS-2. The evaluation result indicates that our proposal could explicitly reduce packet delivery latency, and that it could also significantly prolong the lifetime of the entire network when traffic is low.

Cascaded Raman fiber amplifier operating at 1.3.mu.m using WDM couplers

  • We report effcient cascaded Raman generation and signal amplification at 1.3.mu.m achieved in a ring resonator constructed solely from fiber components, i.e. fusion WDM couplers. Low-loss single-mode fiber with moderate $GeO_2$ content (18 mole %) is used as an active medium and pumped by a Nd:YAG laser at 1.064.mu.m. In a resonant cascaded geometry, this generates the third Stokes line at 1.24.mu.m, which acts as a pump for signal wavelength around 1.3.mu.m. A DFB laser operating at 1.315.mu.m is used to provide an input signal. An output signal powers up to 20 dBm (100 mW) with a 28 dB Raman gain are attained, where the Nd:YAG pump power is 3.4 W. It is also shown experimentally that it is important to use optical filters to suppress feedback from the resonator, permitting high Raman gain and good signal quality.

초음파 플립칩 접합 모듈의 위상최적화 설계 및 성능 실험 (Design by Topology Optimization and Performance Test of Ultrasonic Bonding Module for Flip-Chip Packaging)

  • Ultrasonic bonding is the novel packaging method for flip-chip with high yield and low-temperature bonding. The bonding module is a core part of the bonding machine, which can transfer the ultrasonic energy into the bonding spot. In this paper, we propose topology optimization technique which can make new design of boding modules due to the constraints on resonance frequency and mode shapes. The designed bonding module using topology optimization was fabricated in order to evaluate the bonding performance and reliable operation during the continuous bonding process. The actual production models based on the proposed design satisfied the target frequency range and ultrasonic power. The bonding test was performed using flip-chip with lead-free Sn-based bumps, the results confirmed that the bonding strength was sufficient with the designed bonding modules. Also the performance degradation of the bonding module was not observed after the 300-hour continuous process with bonding conditions.

어븀 첨가 광섬유형 링 레이저와 광섬유 격자 기반 센서를 이용한 원거리의 온도 및 전류 측정 (Remote Measurement of a Distant Temperature and Current using Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors and Erbium-doped Fiber Ring Laser)

  • A long-distance remote sensing of temperature and current based on a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed and demonstrated. The thermal expanding effect of the epoxy and the Er-doped fiber ring laser (EFRL) are applied to the sensor system to enhance the temperature and current sensitivity. An EFRL with a 5 km-single-mode fiber and a FBG shows a high extinction ratio of more than 60 dB and a low power fluctuation of less than 1 dB. The metal wires are used to supply the current to the sensors. When the NOA65 puts on the FBG as a thermal expanding material, the temperature and current sensitivity of the lasing wavelength shift are about $30\;pm/^{\circ}C$ and 3pm/mA, respectively. The proposed sensing scheme is useful for measurement of current or temperature at a distant object of more than several km.

부유게이트를 이용한 코어스 플레쉬 변환기 설계 (Design of Corase Flash Converter Using Floating Gate MOSFET)

  • 8개의 N과 P채널 EEPROM을 이용하여 A/D 변환기를 설계하였다. 프로그래밍 모드에서 EEPROM의 선형적 저장능력을 관찰하기 위해 MOSIS의 1.2㎛ double-poly CMOS 공정을 이용하여 셀이 제작되었다. 그 결과 1.25V와 2V구간에서 10㎷ 미만의 오차 내에서 셀이 선형적으로 프로그램 되는 것을 보았다. 이러한 실험 결과를 이용하여 프로그램 가능한 A/D 변환기의 동작이 Hspice에서 시뮤레이션 되었으며, 그 결과 A/D 변환기가 37㎼의 전력을 소모하고 동작주파수는 333㎒ 정도인 것으로 관찰되었다.

  • Advantages of switched reluctance motor(SRM) drives make it an attractive candidate for replacing adjustable speed ac and dc drives in both industrial and consumer applications. Furthermore, a simple, low cost and robust SRM drive can be efficiently operated in the hostile environment of an automobile. Generally, the speed control of SRM has a large step change or large torque reference, the output of its PI controller is often saturated. When this happens, the integral state is not consistent with the SRM input, while may give rise to the windup phenomenon. This paper proposes anti-windup control method for SRM speed control system by hysteresis current controlled asymmetry bridge converter. The experimental results show that the speed response has much improved performance, such as a small overshoot and fast settling time at the acceleration and particulary deceleration period with braking mode.
