저압라인 EGR을 적용한 대형 디젤엔진의 EURO-4 규제 대응 전략에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on Strategy of Applying Low Pressure Loop EGR for a Heavy Duty Diesel Engine to Meet EURO-4 Regulation)

  • EGR system has been widely used to reduce NOx emission in light duty diesel engines, but its application to heavy duty diesel engine is not common yet. In this study, simulation model for EURO-3 engine was developed using commercial code WAVE and then verified by comparison with experimental results in performance and emission. Possibility to meet EURO-4 regulation using modified EURO-3 engine with LPL EGR system was studied. Each components of the engine was modeled using CATIA and WaveMesher. The engine test mode was ESC 13 and injection timing and quantity were changed to compensate engine performances, because applying EGR causes power reduction. As a results of the simulation, it was found that EURO-4 NOx regulation could be achieved by applying LPL EGR system to current EURO-3 engine even with some BSFC deterioration.

우수한 성능의 94 GHz 도파관 전압조정발진기의 개발 (Development of the High Performance 94 GHz Waveguide VCO)

  • 본 논문에서는 GaAs 기반의 건 다이오드(Gunn diode)와 버렉터 다이오드(varactor diode)를 사용하여 중심 주파수가 94 GHz인 도파관(waveguide) 전압조정발진기(VCO, voltage controlled oscillator)를 구현하였다. 94 GHz 신호는 동공(cavity)을 47 GHz에서 발진하도록 설계하여 2체배된 신호를 사용하였으며, 다이오드의 바이어스(bias) 포스트(post)가 저역통과필터(LPF, low pass filter) 및 공진기(resonator) 기능을 동시에 수행하도록 설계하였다. 제작된 도파관 전압조정발진기는 760 MHz의 대역폭과 12.61~15.26 dBm의 출력전력 특성을 나타내었다. 위상잡음은 -101.13dBc/Hz(at 1MHz offset)의 우수한 특성을 얻었다.

평면형 대기압 유전장벽방전장치의 제작 및 동작특성분석 (Fabrication of Atmospheric Coplanar Dielectric Barrier Discharge and Analysis of its Driving Characteristics)

  • The discharge characteristics of Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharge (SDBD) reactor are investigated to find optimal driving condition with adjusting various parameter. When the high voltage with sine wave form is applied to SDBD source, successive pulsed current waveforms are observed owing to multiple ignitions through the long discharge channel and wall charge accumulation on the dielectric surface. The discharge voltage, total charge between dielectrics, mean energy and power are calculated from measured current and voltage according to electrode gap and dielectric thickness. Discharge mode transition from filamentary to diffusive glow is observed for narrow gap and high applied voltage case. However, when the diffusive discharge is occurred with high applied voltage, the actual firing voltage is always lower than that with low driving voltage. The $Si_3N_4$, $MgF_2$, $Al_2O_3$ and $TiO_2$ are considered for dielectric protection and high secondary electron emission coefficient. SDBD with $MgF_2$ shows the lowest breakdown voltage. $MgF_2$ thin film is proposed as a protection layer for low voltage atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge devices.

450 Gbps Low-cost Intensity Modulation with Direct Detection (IM/DD) Wave Length Division Multiplexing (WDM-PON) for 5G Fronthaul

  • This work designs an eighteen-channel bidirectional Intensity Modulation with Direct Detection (IM/DD) Wavelength Division Multiplexing-Passive Optical Network (WDM-PON) system. The proposed system meets the requirement of the ITU-T 5G fronthaul link suggested design in G-series Recommendations-Supplement 66. The newly designed system, with a 25Gb/s/λ data rate (450Gbps as a system capacity), has been tested and simulated using OptiSystem V.19 software. The system has been evaluated by the BER with respect to variable the optical span and CW laser power. Based on the ITU-T recommendations, the simulation results demonstrate that this system might be used as an F1 and as an Fx 5G fronthaul link for functional split choices starting from options 1 to 7a. These options are required under 25Gbps/λ for each upstream and downstream link direction. Furthermore, the proposed system utilized a bidirectional single-mode optical fiber within short optical spans of up to 10 km. The proposed system is characterized by a low-cost, simple, DSP-free and amplifier-free system with a reasonable system capacity.

Low-Temperature Si and SiGe Epitaxial Growth by Ultrahigh Vacuum Electron Cyclotron Resonance Chemical Vapor Deposition (UHV-ECRCVD)

  • Low-temperature epitaxial growth of Si and SiGe layers of Si is one of the important processes for the fabrication of the high-speed Si-based heterostructure devices such as heterojunction bipolar transistors. Low-temperature growth ensures the abrupt compositional and doping concentration profiles for future novel devices. Especially in SiGe epitaxy, low-temperature growth is a prerequisite for two-dimensional growth mode for the growth of thin, uniform layers. UHV-ECRCVD is a new growth technique for Si and SiGe epilayers and it is possible to grow epilayers at even lower temperatures than conventional CVD's. SiH and GeH and dopant gases are dissociated by an ECR plasma in an ultrahigh vacuum growth chamber. In situ hydrogen plasma cleaning of the Si native oxide before the epitaxial growth is successfully developed in UHV-ECRCVD. Structural quality of the epilayers are examined by reflection high energy electron diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Nomarski microscope and atomic force microscope. Device-quality Si and SiGe epilayers are successfully grown at temperatures lower than 600℃ after proper optimization of process parameters such as temperature, total pressure, partial pressures of input gases, plasma power, and substrate dc bias. Dopant incorporation and activation for B in Si and SiGe are studied by secondary ion mass spectrometry and spreading resistance profilometry. Silicon p-n homojunction diodes are fabricated from in situ doped Si layers. I-V characteristics of the diodes shows that the ideality factor is 1.2, implying that the low-temperature silicon epilayers grown by UHV-ECRCVD is truly of device-quality.

난류 유동장 내에 놓인 탄성을 갖는 박판의 방사소음에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of Radiated So from Elastic Thin Plate in a Turbulent Boundary Layer)

  • The structural modes driven by the low wave-number components of smooth elastic wall pressure provide a relatively weak coupling between the flow and the wall motion. If the elastic thin plate has any resonant mode whose wave-number of resonance coincides with $\omega$/U$\sub$c/, the power will be transmitted to those modes of vibration by the flows. We examine the problem in which the elastic thin plate is subject to pressure fluctuations under turbulent boundary layer. Measurements are presented of the frequency spectra of the near- and far-field pressures and radiated sound contributed by the various wave modes of the thin elastic plate. Dispersion equation for wave motions of elastic plate is used to investigate the effect of bending waves of relatively low wave number on radiated sound. The low wave-number motion of elastic plate is observed to have much less influence on the low-frequency energy of wall pressure fluctuations than that of the rediated sound. High amplitude events of the wall pressure are observed to weakly couple with high-frequency energy of radiated sound for case of low tension applied to the plate. The sound source localization is applied to the measurement of radiated sound by using acoustic mirror system.

복합발전 가스터빈 연소기용 저선회 노즐의 연료 분사 위치에 따른 배기배출 및 연소진동 특성 (Emissions and Combustion Dynamics with Fuel Injection Position for Low-swirl Nozzles of Gas Turbine Combustor)

  • 본 연구에서는 SN(Swirl Number)는 같지만 코어부와 스월러부의 질량유량비(m)가 다른 저선회 노즐 2종을 설계하여 상압 연소성능 시험을 수행하였다. 각 노즐에 대해 단열화염온도에 따른 연소성능 실험을 수행하였고 화염구조 특성, NOx 배출 특성, 연소진동 모드를 파악하였다. 화염구조가 크게 차이가 있었지만 CO 배츨 특성은 유사하였고 NOx 배출 특성도 화염구조보다는 연소진동과 더 큰 관련성이 있음을 보였다. 연료노즐의 위치를 변경하여 대류지연시간을 조절하면서 연소진동 및 NOx 배출 특성을 파악하였는데 대류지연시간이 연소진동 주기의 (3+4n)/4±1/4 (n=0,1,2,...) 영역에 들어올 때 진소진동이 강하게 나타나고 반대의 경우는 연소진동이 아주 약하게 발생함을 확인하였다.

  • 상용계통과 연계한 PV 시스템은 인버터의 특성과 더불어 소형, 고 역률, 낮은 고조파 출력, 고 신뢰성, 최대출력 운전, 저비용 등의 장점이 요구된다. 태양광발전시스템의 PV 에너지를 계통과 부하로 전달하기 위해 양방향의 PCS가 요구되어 진다. 본 논문에서는 태양광 발전의 ESS를 고려한 PCS를 제안하여 부하평준화를 통한 전력의 안정적인 공급을 확인하고자 한다. 이를 위해 일사량과 부하량에 따른 5단계의 동작 모드 알고리즘을 제안하고, 충/방전 제어를 위한 제어기를 설계 하였다. 양방향의 효율적인 에너지 전달을 위해 DC-link단에 양방향 컨버터 및 배터리를 연결하고, 연계형 인버터를 통해 DC-link 전압 및 인버터 출력전압을 제어하였다. 제안된 시스템의 타당성을 입증하기 위해 PSIM을 사용한 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 타당성과 안정성을 검토하였으며, 이를 확인하기 위해 3[kW] PCS를 제작하여 실험하였다. 실험결과를 통해 제안된 시스템에 요구되어지는 특성을 검증하였으며 기존 시스템에 비해 강인한 시스템을 구성하였다.

Power Steering System의 구동력이 차량 모드주행연비에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Power Steering System Driving Torque on Vehicle Fuel Economy in a Passenger Car)

  • To improve the vehicle fuel economy, various technologies have been studied. Meanwhile it deteriorates fuel economy that the increased driving torque for Power Steering System (PSS) due to weighted vehicle and widened tire for low speed driving and parking. So the larger driving torque for PSS is, the lower fuel economy is. Therefore, the study about the effect of the driving torque for PSS and the engine total friction must be preceded to improve the vehicle fuel economy. In this study, a PSS module separated from the vehicle is used to measure the driving torque for PSS with respect to the pressure of PSS. The result shows that the driving torque for PSS was in direct proportion to the pressure of PSS 3 (N-m) driving torque for PSS vs. 10 (bar) pressure of PSS, and 8 (N-m) vs. 40 (bar). In addition, the driving torque and pressure for PSS was measured according to the engine speed in the component test condition which was in the vehicle condition. Measuring the driving torque for PSP in the vehicle condition was established by using the VeFAS which was a fuel economy analyzer developed in our lab and installing PSS By-pass line. The effect of the driving torque for PSS on the vehicle fuel economy was analyzed with FTP-75 cold start mode.

전기자전거 응용을 위한 배터리 충전 기능 내장형 부스트 컨버터 (Boost Converter Embedded Battery Charging Function for Application of E-bike)

  • In the conventional E-bike, a 42 V/10 A Li-ion battery drives a 24 V/10 A BLDC motor via a 6-switch PWM DC/AC inverter. The major problems of the conventional battery-fed motor drive systems are listed as follows. To charge the battery, an external battery charger (adapter) is required, which degrades the portability of E-bike users. In addition, given the high-frequency operation of the motor drive inverter, the switching losses are significant, which degrades the whole power efficiency. High-voltage batteries (42 V) require a complex battery management system (BMS), which degrades the reliability of the battery pack. In this paper, an embedded boost-converter battery charger for E-bikes is proposed. The variable output boost converter, which converts 16.8 V battery voltage to the required variable voltage of the inverter input, can use a low-voltage battery and thus improve the reliability of batteries. By varying the inverter input voltage via boost converter, a DC link voltage control method can be applied to reduce the switching frequency of the inverter, which improves the whole power efficiency. Given that the function of a flyback charger is integrated in the proposed boost converter, the portability of the E-bike user can be maximized by excluding an external adapter. The validity of the proposed circuit will be confirmed by operation mode analysis and simulation. Moreover, experimental results of integrative charger using Li-ion battery and 200 W motor test will be showed with a prototype sample as well.
