Output characteristics of ac excited $CO_2$ laser as a adjusting a phase angle and frequency (위상각와 주파수 제어에 따른 상용주파 AC 여기 방식의 펄스형 $CO_2$ 레이저 전원장치 개발에 관한 연구)

  • We propose pulsed $CO_2$ laser below 30W by the AC(60Hz) switching control of leakage transformer primary which has some advantage of cost and size compared to a typical pulsed power supply. Pulse repetition rate is adjusted from 5Hz to 60Hz to control laser output. In this laser, a low voltage open loop control for high voltage discharge circuit is employed to avoid the HV sampling or switching and high voltage leakage transformer is used to convert rectified low voltage pulse to high voltage one. A ZCS(Zero Cross Switch) circuit and a PIC one-chip microprocessor are used to control gate signal of SCR precisely. The pulse repetition rate is limited by 60Hz due to the frequency of AC line and a high leakage inductance. The maximum laser output was obtained about 23W at pulse repetition rate of 60Hz, total gas mixture of $CO_{2}/N_{2}$/He = 1/9/15, SCR gate trigger angle 90$^{\circ}$, and total pressure of 18Torr.

System Development of Precision Vision Measurement Using Fuzzy C-Means Algorithm (Fuzzy C-Means를 이용한 정밀 영상측정 시스템 개발)

  • The measuring systems of auto-parts are most of greater part very expensive. This paper tries to study to make a low-cost measuring equipment there's several kinds of parts in automobile. In this study, we take aircon-switch called magnet coil-housing as the object of measurements. The measurements of this product is currently in difficult situations at factory. In the case of the mesuring objects being big sizes and camera sensor having under 410000 pixels, the key point is the number of pixels not to be changed whenever the same object is measured under the same position. We modified and used fuzzy c-means algorithm to get mostly without the change of the numbers of pixels exactly. Also, the standardized ruler is necessary to measure the length of the object but it is not easy to get the precised ruler. Therefore, the standard length has been taken as the mean value of the pixels in the previous passed objects manually obtained at factory. The results are displayed on monitor and transferred these signals to the microprocessor through RSC-232 port to determine a good or bad of products.

  • This paper presents a PLD design of Gray Mode Graphic STN LCD drive circuit using PC interface. The proposed LCD drive circuit doesn\`t use microprocessor for the convenience of users. Thus, the LCD drive circuit can transfer efficiently image data created under PC to LCD. The LCD drive circuit which is modelled in schematic capture, AHDL and VHDL is simulated in functionally through the use of ALTERA MAX+PLUS II. Also, timing simulation is performed by ALTERA EPM7192SQC160-15 PLD implementation. The PC interface part have been programmed in MS-Visual C++ 6.0. The validity and efficiency of the proposed LCD drive circuit have been verified by test board. After comparing this LCD drive circuit to specify it was verified that the developed LCD drive circuit showed good performances, such as convenience of users, low cost.

  • This paper presents the design of acoustic resonance(AR) free and dimmable electronic ballast for 1kW Metal-Halide Lamp(MHL). The proposed Ballast consists of a Full-Bridge(FB) rectifier, a passive power factor correction(PFC) circuit, a full-bridge inverter, an ignitor using LC resonance and a control circuit for frequency modulation and dimming control. Whereas a passive PFC provides advantages in terms of high reliability and low cost for constructing the circuit, it is difficult to supply a stable voltage because of the output voltage ripple that occurs with a period of 120Hz. Although the ballast can be designed with a small size and a light weight if it is driven at a switching frequency between 1 and 100 kHz, AR will occur if the eigenvalue frequency of the lamp coincides with the inverter's operation frequency. The operation frequency was modulated in real time according to the output voltage ripple to compensate for the variation in power supplied to the lamp and eliminate AR. For dimming, the method, which modulated drive frequency of FB inverter using the control of DC level by microprocessor, was used. The Dimming ranged at least from 600W to 1kw as rated power of the lamp with 4 stages. Performance of the proposed technique was validated through numerical analysis, computer simulation using Pspice and by applying it to an electronic ballast for a prototype 1kW MHL.

  • According to the development of ubiquitous and computer techniques, the application fields of sensor network have been enlarged. We present the design and implementation of sensor node which is the most important component of sensor network techniques in this paper. The proposed sensor node is implemented with 8-bit microprocessor, and temperature and humidity sensing device to gather temperature and humidity data in real world. It achieves low production cost and user convenience, and also has the feature os existing commercial sensor node. Though our experiments, we show that deviation of temperature and humidity are $5^{\circ}C$ and 23.2% respectively, and the proposed sensor node is reliable in real applications.

  • Recently, the infrastructure to be connected to the internet is much provided, there is more and more need to connect electric or electronic products to the internet to monitor or control them remotely. However, most of the existing products lack the network interface, so it was very inconvenient to be connected to the internet. Therefore, this article designs and realizes the internet outlet allowing real-time scheduling that can control the power remotely on the internet by using the hardware TCP/IP processor. The realized product consumes low production cost because it can be realized by using the hardware TCP/IP processor and the 8-bit small microprocessor. In addition, the product can be used widely in both wired and wireless environments with a variety of user interface, including the dedicated control program which provides the environment configuration functions; embedded web service that enables the webpage to be saved on the external flash memory; Android smartphone application; motion recognition control environment that uses the OpenCV computer vision library, etc.

  • This paper presents a digital controller of the electronic ballast using high frequency modulation method for the metal halide lamp. The proposed controller includes the control algorithm for soft starting, no load protection, over current protection and power control. The proposed digital controller, moreover, has the high frequency modulation scheme and the tracking algorithm to avoid acoustic resonance phenomena. For the math production with the low cost using the ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuit), the proposed digital controller has been designed with the FPGAs(Field Programmable Gate array) only, without any microprocessor. In this paper, the detail digital control algorithms are described and the experimental results of prototype 150w metal halide electronic ballast are presented.

  • This paper describes a Gray Mode Graphic STN LCD drive circuit using USB interface. The drive circuit using USB interface can highly transfer image data created under PC t LCD. Hence, the LCD drive circuit doesn't use microprocessor for the convenience of users. The proposed LCD drive circuit part have been verified by simulation and by ALTERA EPF10K10TC144-3 FPGA implementation in VHDL. The USB interface part have been programmed in MS-Visual C++ 6.0. Terra-Scope - a MEMS-based vertical seismic array

  • The Terra-Scope system is an affordable 4-D down-hole seismic monitoring system based on independent, microprocessor-controlled sensor Pods. The Pods are nominally 50 mm in diameter, and about 120 mm long. They are expected to cost approximately $6000 each. An internal 16-bit, extremely low power MCU controls all aspects of instrumentation, eight programmable gain amplifiers, and local signal storage. Each Pod measures 3-D acceleration, tilt, azimuth, temperature, and other parametric variables such as pore water pressure and pH. Each Pod communicates over a standard digital bus (RS-485) through a completely web-based GUI interface, and has a power consumption of less than 400 mW. Three-dimensional acceleration is measured by pure digital force-balance MEMS-based accelerometers. These accelerometers have a dynamic range of more than 115 dB and a frequency response from DC to 1000 Hz with a noise floor of less than $30ng_{rms}/{\surd}Hz$. Accelerations above 0.2 g are measured by a second set of MEMS-based accelerometers, giving a full 160 dB dynamic range. This paper describes the system design and the cooperative shared-time scheduler implemented for this project. Restraints accounted for include multiple data streams, integration of multiple free agents, interaction with the asynchronous world, and hardened time stamping of accelerometer data. The prototype of the device is currently undergoing evaluation. The first array will be installed in the spring of 2006.
