Process capability indices are being used as indicators for measurements of process capability for SPC of quality assurance system in industries. In view of the enhancement of customer satisfaction, process capability indices in which loss functions are used to deal with the economic loss In the processes deviated from the target, are in an adequate representation of the customer's perception of quality In this connection, the loss function has become increasingly important in quality assurance. Taguchi uses a modified form of the quadratic loss function to demonstrate the need to consider the proximity to the target while assessing its quality. But this traditional quadratic loss function is inadequate to assessing the quality and quality improvement since different processes have different sets of economic consequences on the manufacturing, Thereby, a flexible approach to the development of the loss function needs to be desired. In this paper, we introduce an easily understood loss function, based on reflection of probability density function of the normal distribution. That is, the Reflected Normal Loss function can be adapted to an asymmetric loss as well as to a symmetric loss around the target. We propose that, instead of the process variation, a new capability index, CpI using the Reflected Normal Loss Function that can accurately reflect the losses associated with the process and a new capability index CpI Is compared with the classical indices as $C_{p}$ , $C_{pk}$, $C_{pm}$ and $C_{pm}$$^{+}$.>.+/./.

In implementing GCRA, well known as the representative user traffic policing algorithm for constant-bit rate service, it is essential to set proper values for delay variation tolerance in order to prevent network overload and excessive user data loss due to delay variation incurred inevitably during transmission process. In this paper, we investigate the performance of GCRA algorithm for various values of delay variation tolerance and suggest a guideline for setting proper delay variation tolerance values.

In this paper, a novel control algorithm to minimize the power loss of the induction generator for wind power generation system is presented. The proposed method is based on the flux level reduction, where the flux level is computed from the machine model for the optimum d-axis current of the generator. For the vector-controlled induction generator, the d-axis current controls the excitation level in order to minimize the generator loss while the q-axis current controls the generator torque, by which the speed of the induction generator is controlled according to the variation of the wind speed in order to produce the maximum output power. Wind turbine simulator has been implemented in laboratory to validate the theoretical development. The experimental results show that the loss minimization process is more effective at low wind speed and that the percent of power loss saving can approach to 25%. Experimental results are shown to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.
In this paper, a MW-Mvar investment technique focused on minimizing the system loss is presented. An optimization technique, in which the system loss is defined as the objective function and the power flow equations as the constraints, is introduced to obtain the Lagrangian multipliers λP and λQ. The Lagrangian multipliers imply the variation of the system loss with respect to incremental bus power and are used as MW-Mvar investment indices for minimizing the system loss. ΔP MW and ΔQ Mvar are invested, step by step, by the priority of λP and λQ index given for each bus. Derivation of the index uses the information from normal power flow calculation.
For the study on loss coefficients of turbine cascade with variation of incidence angle, the wind-tunnel tests were performed under the ranges in velocity of 10 m/s, 15 m/s, 20 m/s and incidence angles from $-20^{\circ}\;to\;20^{\circ}$ by intervals of $5^{\circ}$. Comparing our results with Soderberg's prediction, differences in loss coefficient were $2.5\%\;and\;2.8\%$ each for 10 m/s and 15 m/s. A large disagreement of $30.3\%$ was showed at 20 m/s freestream velocity. The comparisons of these test results with Ainley's prediction showed an $8\%$ difference in the case of 20 m/s freestream velocity. Test results were approximately comparable with Ainley's loss prediction's in incidence angles. Generally, averaged total pressure loss seemed to be decreased as Reynolds number increased. The total pressure loss coefficients were increased parabolically, as incidence angles were increased negatively and positively from $0^{\circ}$, in all speed ranges. At the far low freestream velocities, minimum loss accurred between $-5^{\circ}\;and\;+5^{\circ}$. But this minimum range narrowed the location of this range by shifting to the direction of the angle as freestream velocity was increased.
An HTS power cable is generally composed of 2 layers for conducting and 1 layer for shielding. For the analysis of AC loss of an HTS power cable, 2-dimensional magnetic field analysis is carried out. The magnetization loss in HTS cable core was calculated, and the transport current loss was obtained from the monoblock equation and the elliptical Norris Equation. And the total AC loss of the cable was expected by the sum of magnetization loss and transport current loss. The variation of ac loss with respect to the gap and uncertain factor between the superconducting tapes was investigated, and the ac loss of 22.9kV/50MVA high-Tc superconducting power cable was calculated. These results well agree with those of experiment.
We present the rst period variation study for the Algol eclipsing binary V346 Cyg by constructing the (O-C) residual diagram using all the available precise minima times. We conclude that the period variation can be explained by a sine-like variation due to the presence of a third body orbiting the binary in about $68.89{\pm}4.69$ years, together with a long-term orbital period decrease ($dP/dt=-1.23{\times}10^{-7}day/yr$) that can be interpreted to be due to slow mass loss from the ${\delta}$-Scuti primary component. The sinusoidal variation may also be explained by using the the Applegate (1992) mechanism involving cyclic magnetic activity due to star-spots on the secondary component. The present preliminary solution needs more precise photometric observations to be confirmed.
A cyclone design concept named Convex cyclone was developed to reduce pressure losses. Contrary to conventional cylinder-on-con type cyclone, inner wall of Convex cyclone are defined with a continuous curve and it has convex shape body. The discontinuity of inner diameter variation rate of cylinder-on-con type cyclone cause additional pressure loss. Continuous wall of Convex cyclone prevent additional pressure loss. In order to verify Convex cyclone design concept, we make a comparative experiments between Stairmand HE and Convex cyclone. Experimental Convex cyclone designed based on Stairmand HE model, and inner wall are defined with circular arch. The experimental result clearly shows that Convex cyclone can achieve maximum 50% pressure loss reduction with a few percent of collection efficiency drop. In addition, the experimental results indicated the existence of optimum convexity, minimum pressure loss, of cyclone wall.

The aim of this study is to suggest the method of measuring the dynamic stiffness and loss factor of materials used under floating floors in the dwelling by korea standard (KS F 2868). According to the results, the amplitude change of an impact source have no effect on the variation of the dynamic stiffness and loss factor. Comparing with the heating before, heating makes lower the dynamic stiffness except the EPS. In EVA material, the loss factor is increased by heating.

decrease in efficiency due to cavity fluid fluctuation. The purpose of this study is to examine erosion aspect on the SS400 specimen by cavitation and the effect of impact pressure generated from the demolition of the cavity of ultrasonic vibrator horn in the marine sludge oil environment. The erosion damage of specimen was investigated mainly on weight loss, weight loss rate and maximum erosion rate with variation of the vibration amplitude of $50{\mu}m, 24{\mu}m$ as well as the change of space between transducer horn and specimen. The experimental results showed that as the space between ultrasonic vibrator horn and specimen disk increased, the weight loss and weight loss rate decreased and the values were larger in SFO than in SLO. These findings would help interpret the aspect of cavitation erosion damage in metallic materials of different operating environment and material characteristics.
