  • There are about 22,000 national control points throughout this nation. However, in order to identify the location data of a national control point, a control point result table is needed. And although the control points are important national facilities, due to the fact that these points located at remote areas such as on top of mountains, the facilities are being maintained via on-site inspection without any protections around them. In this research, by taking the locations where the control points are placed into consideration, a specialized RFID tags that can be attached to the national control point's marker has been developed, and CDMA-ready PDA based mobile Web System and national control point control system are developed as well. With help of these systems, control point data can be checked at the seen, and national control point maintenance personnel can find out about maintenance status and keep track of usage record. When these systems are taken into effect, access to the national control point data becomes easy, fast response to the change in data can be possible, and management efficiency will go up. When the Ubiquitous society becomes reality, the importance of location information will be high. Therefore, national control points using above mentioned RFID tags will not only be useful to the control point users and maintenance personnels such as professional land surveyors, but also useful when providing location based services to people, and it will become an important national infrastructure in terms of providing absolute location information.

  • Recently, the need for LBS (Location Based Services) is increasing with the rapid growth of the location measurement units, mobile devices, and communication technologies. Especially, wireless carriers are concentrating on LBS since it is regarded as so-called 'killer application' among wireless data services. Although LBS give us convenience and useful information, its use also raises privacy issues. There are quite possibilities that the people's locations are tracked by location measurement units while people do not recognize the existence of the units. To protect a person's location information, lawful and technical aspects should be considered. In this paper, we explain issues, regulations, standards, and platforms related to the protection of the location information. Finally, we suggest the architecture of a platform complying with the regulations and standards. It considers various issues not covered in other studies.

  • Location-based services or LBS refer to value-added service by processing information utilizing mobile user location. With the rapidly increasing wireless Internet subscribers and world LBS market, the various location based applications are introduced such as buddy finder, proximity and security services. As the killer application of the wireless Internet, the LBS have reconsidered technology about location determination technology, LBS middleware server for various application, and diverse contents processing technology. However, there are fears that this new wealth of personal location information will lead to new security risks, to the invasion of the privacy of people and organizations. This paper describes a novel security approach on open LBS service to validate certificate based on current LBS platform environment using XKMS (XML Key Management Specification) and SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language), XACML (extensible Access Control Markup Language) in XML security mechanism.

  • Objective: This study focuses on the effects of pre-cues informing the location of upcoming visual stimulus on finger movement response in the context of control-on-display interfaces. Background: Previous research on pre-cues focus on attention allocation and motion studies were limited to indirect control conditions. The design of this study aimed to collect data on the exact landing point for finger-tap responses to a given visual stimulus. Method: Controlled visual stimuli and tasks were presented on a UI evaluation system built using mobile web standards; response accuracy and response time were measured and collected as appropriate. Among the 16 recruited participants, 11 completed the experiment. Results: Providing pre-cue on the location of stimulus affected response time and response accuracy. The response bias, which is a distance from the center of stimulus to the finger-tap location, was larger when the pre-cue was given during a one-handed operation. Conclusion: Given a pre-cue, response time decreases, but with accuracy penalized. Application: In designing touch-screen UI's - more strictly, visual components also acting as controllers - designers would do well to balance human perceptual and cognitive characteristics strategically.

  • This paper presents a method of independent pulse repetition frequency(PRF) generation and control for frequency phase calibration on mono-pulse radar at a remote location. In order to generate an independent PRF signal of 320[Hz], pulse width modulation(PWM) of 16-bit timer/counter was applied. For a precision control of PRF signal, 16-bit timer/counter interrupt was changed for each period. Therefore, average frequency of PRF could be controlled by 0.0001[Hz]. To calibrate a frequency phase of mono-pulse radar at a remote location, the proposed PRF generator with a precision control of frequency was used regardless of receiving PRF signal from a radar. For the verification of the proposed PRF generator, theoretical analysis and experimental results are included.

  • Recently, research on the self-healing of concrete using bacteria has been actively conducted. The self-healing method using bacteria has a low self-healing rate and the surrounding environment of the fracture site is very important. A previous study to solve this problem involves the manufacture of capsules using 3D printing. Fracture position control was an important topic in 3D printing-based capsules. In this study, to compensate for the shortcomings of existing studies, a capsule capable of selective destruction location control was produced using PDMS-based molds that are not restricted by the environment. Resin capsules were prepared for each part using several molds and a bonding surface was arranged. In order to verify this on the bonding surface, fracture strength and wave unit values were analyzed through a three-way compression experiment. It can be seen that as the curing time increases, the deviation between samples decreases. In addition, through experiments, it was confirmed that the junction surface and wave unit values coincide in all three directions. It can be used for self-healing research using various solutions.

  • UGVs(Unmanned Ground Vehicles) are robots that can substitute humans in reconnaissance operations of potentially dangerous and contaminated sites. Currently, there have been active research on utilizing UGVs in military environments. Much resrach has been focused on exploiting the weakness of topology-based routing and instead utilize location-based routing for the networking of UGVs. It is generally assumed that location-based routing methods can fully utilize the location information gained from GPS. However, this may not be possible in tactical environments due to enemy GPS jamming and LOS(Line of Sight) limitations. To solve this problem, we propose a location-based routing scheme utilizing low control message that can calibrate the location information using GPS information as well as location of neighboring UGV, movement direct and speed information. Also utilizing topology-based routing scheme to solve incorrect location information in GPS jamming region.

  • In the present study, we reduce the drag and lift fluctuations of the sphere by providing a linear proportional control. For this purpose, we measure the radial velocity along the centerline in the wake and provide blowing and suction at a part of sphere surface based on the measured velocity. Zero-net mass flow rate is satisfied during the control. This control is applied to the flow over a sphere at Re=300 and 425. We vary the sensing location at $0.8d{\leq}X_s{\leq}1.3d$ and find that the most effective sensing region coincides with the location at which minimum correlation between the lift and sensing-velocity directions occurs. As a result, the lift and drag fluctuations are significantly reduced.

  • In the raper, the noise involved on the active circuit is identified using correlation function. In order to identify the unknown noise source location, signals from each points on the system are detected and the location is identified by a concept calico Noise Source Surface. The fault diagnosis method is suggested for each element by identifying the noise source in active circuit using SVM. Experiment is conducted to confirm the validity of the proposed method. Also a method to reduce and control the noise in the system signal by using Matrix Pencil Method is introduced.
