We reconstruct the underlying dark matter (DM) density distribution of the local universe within 20Mpc/h cubic box by using the galaxy position and peculiar velocity. About 1,000 subboxes in the Illustris-TNG cosmological simulation are used to train the relation between DM density distribution and galaxy properties by using UNet-like convolutional neural network (CNN). The estimated DM density distributions have a good agreement with their truth values in terms of pixel-to-pixel correlation, the probability distribution of DM density, and matter power spectrum. We apply the trained CNN architecture to the galaxy properties from the Cosmicflows-3 catalogue to reconstruct the DM density distribution of the local universe. The reconstructed DM density distribution can be used to understand the evolution and fate of our local environment.

Owing to the proliferation of smart phone users, a proactive spectrum policy is needed in order to deal with increasing data traffic. Therefore, the prediction of frequency requirements for future wireless local area network (WLAN) as well as a licensed cellular communication is necessary. In this paper, we proposed a new prediction method for WLAN spectrum requirements. This method includes both a traditional prediction method and an offloading percentage from cellular network, Also, it can consider a frequency interference between access points using a statistical approach. Based on these approaches, we can predict the spectrum requirements of future domestic WLAN services considering the frequency interference. Finally, we suggest the spectrum policy for WLAN which can prevent spectrum shortage of future WLAN services.
We have identified local analogs of strong $H{\alpha}$ Emitters (HAEs) that dominate the z~4 Lyman-break galaxy population using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). At z<0.4, only 0.04% of galaxies are classified as HAEs with $H{\alpha}$ equivalent width larger than $500{\AA}$, comparable to that of z~4 HAEs. The $H{\alpha}$-to-UV luminosity ratio of local HAEs is consistent with that of z~4 HAEs, indicating relatively large specific star formation rate in these galaxies compared to traditionally studied UV-selected Lyman break analogs. Local HAEs are young, less evolved galaxies with low metallicity. It is still difficult to constrain whether the star formation in local HAEs is powered by minor mergers or by cosmological cold gas accretion. However, the stacked optical spectrum of local HAEs shows several strong ionization lines, for example HeII 4686 emission line, which are shown in Wolf-Rayet galaxies. Thus it is highly likely that local HAEs are galaxies with an elevated ionization parameter, either due to a high electron density or large escape fraction of hydrogen ionizing photons.
With a long sensing period, the inter-frame spectrum sensing in IEEE 802.22 standard is vulnerable to the effect of the traffic of the primary user (PU). In this article, we address the two degrading factors that affect the inter-frame sensing performance with respect to the random arrival/leaving of the PU traffic. They are the noise-only samples under the random arrival traffic, and the PU-signal-contained samples under the random leaving traffic. We propose the model in which the intra-frame sensing cooperates with the inter-frame one, and the inter-frame sensing uses the time-of-arrival (ToA), and time-of-leave (ToL) detectors to reduce the two degrading factors in the inter-frame sensing time. These ToA and ToL detectors are used to search for the sample which contains either the ToA or ToL of the PU traffic, respectively, which allows the partial cancelation of the unnecessary samples. At the final stage, the remaining samples are input into a primary user detector, which is based on the energy detection scheme, to determine the status of PU traffic in the inter-frame sensing time. The analysis and the simulation results show that the proposed scheme enhances the spectrum-sensing performance compared to the conventional counter-part.
In this paper, we propose an effective method for cooperative spectrum sensing in cognitive radios where cognitive user(CR) with the highest reliability sensing data is only selected and allowed to report its local decision to FC as only decision making node. The proposed scheme enables CR users to implicitly compare their sensing data reliabilities based on their likelihood ratio, without any collaboration among cognitive radio users. Due to the mechanism, the proposed cooperative scheme can achieves a high spectrum sensing performance while only requiring extremely low cooperation resources such as signaling overhead and cooperative time in comparison with other existing methods such as maximum ratio combination (MRC) based, equal gain combination (EGC) based and conventional hard combination based cooperative sensing methods.

Safety-related cabinets and their electrical parts, such as relays and switches in nuclear power plants, should maintain continuous functioning, as well as structural safety according to the nuclear regulatory guidelines. Generally, an electrical part is qualified if its functioning is maintained without abnormality during excitement by motion compatible with the test response spectrum, which is larger than its in-cabinet response spectrum (ICRS). ICRS can be determined by shake-table test or dynamic analysis. Since existing cabinets in use can hardly be stopped and moved, dynamic analysis is preferred over shake-table test in determining ICRS. The simple method, suggested by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to determine ICRS, yields conservative or non-conservative results from time to time. In order to determine that the ICRS is better than EPRI method in a simple way, Ritz method considering global and local plate behaviors was suggested by Gupta et al. In this paper, the Ritz method is modified in order to consider the rocking and frame behaviors simultaneously, and it is applied to a simple numerical example for verification. ICRS is determined by Ritz method and compared with the results by finite element method (FEM). Based on this numerical example, recommendations for using Ritz method are suggested.
This paper analyzes the structures and issues of 2018 Korean local elections based on the author's observations on the electoral processes. Even if this paper does not follow a traditional statistical method, it provides the interpretative meanings of 2018 local elections by utilizing an expert's observations of campaign processes. This result of 2018 election can be summarized into two analytical frames. In terms of electoral competition structure, three key factors, such as presidential approval rating, party competition structure, ideological spectrum, tend to affect the winning of governing party. In the light of election issue, the inter-Korean summit, the Washington-Pyeongyang summit, Incheon deprecating remark were positive to the vote gains of governing party, but the negative campaign, the drucking scandal and the swing voters were found not to be significant. The local election in Korea tends to show dual meanings, a proxy war of national-level politics and a composition process of local government. This paper found that the 2018 election has dual meanings at the same time, in a sense that it is the punishment of the ex-governing party's wrongdoing and the power change of local government.

In the recent years, femtocell technology has received a considerable attention due to the ability to provide an efficient indoor wireless coverage as well as enhanced capacity. However, under the spectrum sharing between femtocell user equipment (FUEs) and the owner of spectrum macrocell user equipment (MUEs), both may experience higher uplink interference to each other. This paper proposes a novel distributed power control algorithm for the interference management in two-tier femtocell networks. Due to the assignment of licensed radio frequency to the outdoor macrocell users, the access priority of MUEs should be higher than FUEs. In addition, the quality of service (QoS) of MUEs that is expressed in the target signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) must always be achieved. On the other hand, we consider an efficient QoS provisioning cost function for the low-tier FUEs. The proposed algorithm requires only local information and converges even in cases where the frontiers of available power serve the target SINRs impossible. The advantage of the algorithm is the ability to implement in a distributed manner. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm based on our cost function provides effective resource allocation and substantial power saving as compared to the traditional algorithms.

In this paper, we proposed a concept of interference load to analyze the performance of spectrum sharing technologies in unlicensed frequency bands. The interference load can quantitatively compare the technical properties of various spectrum sharing technologies, such as frequency hopping(FH), duty cycle(DC), listen-before-talk(LBT). Therefore, it can help to evaluate whether a local regulation about spectrum sharing is reasonably established or not. In order to verify the suggested concept, we applied it to 2.4 GHz frequency bands. Also, we demonstrated a real-time test-bed. Two bit error rate(BER) curves for FH with 10 random channels and DC of 10 %, show such good agreement that our proposed concept is expected to be widely used to assess various spectrum sharing technologies.

On September 12, 2016, Gyeongju earthquake occurred. Its local magnitude was announced to be $M_L=5.8$ by Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Ground motion data recorded at KMA, EMC and KERC stations was obtained from their data bases. From the data, horizontal and vertical response spectra, and V/H ratio were calculated. The horizontal spectrum was defined as geometric mean spectrum, GMRotI50. From the statistical analysis of the geometric mean spectra, a mean plus one standard deviation spectrum in lognormal distribution is obtained. Regression analysis is performed on this curve to determine the shape of spectrum including transition periods. Applying the same procedure, the shape and transition periods of vertical spectrum was obtained. These results were compared with the Korean standard design spectra, which were developed from domestic and overseas intraplate earthquake records. The response spectra of Gyeongju earthquake were found to be almost identical with the newly proposed design spectra. Even the V/H ratios showed good agreement. These results confirmed that the method adopted when developing the standard design spectra were valid and the developed design spectra were reliable.
