Abstract A decision support system(DSS) commonly requires fast access to tremendous volume of information. A data warehouse is a database storing the information that is extracted, filtered and integrated from several relevant local databases to reply upon aggregated queries. The information stored in the data warehouse can be regarded as materialized views. The materialized view has to be modified according to the change of the corresponding local databases to preserve the data consistency. In this paper, we propose a data warehousing system architecture allowing information sharing (DAWINS), and a non-compensating materialized view maintenance algorithm(NCA). DAWINS architecture allows relevant information to be shared by individual view managers with local data manager for each local database. Unlikely to the pre- or post-compensating algorithms, which are required to remove the effects of some events to other view in the process of view maintenance, NCA does not require any additional query processing, since a local data manager in DAWINS already maintains the effects of update events occurring in local systems.

  • As applications of GIS technology have grown in local governments, the wider and integrated use of spatial information is demanded more than before. Particularly because 70-80% of administrative information in local governments are related spatial, it becomes a key issue to connect and integrate non-spatial information with spatial information for more advanced use of GIS applications in local governments. The purpose of this study is to establish an advanced Implementation model by analyzing obstacles in existing GIS applications and suggesting implementation strategies. The strategy, as an important part of the model, includes efficient information sharing, establishment of commonly usable GIS Database, architectural improvement for Enterprise GIS in terms of database and system implementation, standardization far the model, and establishment of spatial infrastructure in the local governments. The study concludes that administrative collaboration in a horizontal and vertical perspective has a highest priority for the implementation of the model.

  • In the 5G era, the communication networks tend to be ultra-densified, which will improve the accuracy of indoor positioning and further improve the quality of positioning service. In this study, we propose an indoor three-dimensional (3D) dynamic reconstruction fingerprint matching algorithm (DSR-FP) in a 5G ultra-dense network. The first step of the algorithm is to construct a local fingerprint matrix having low-rank characteristics using partial fingerprint data, and then reconstruct the local matrix as a complete fingerprint library using the FPCA reconstruction algorithm. In the second step of the algorithm, a dynamic base station matching strategy is used to screen out the best quality service base stations and multiple sub-optimal service base stations. Then, the fingerprints of the other base station numbers are eliminated from the fingerprint database to simplify the fingerprint database. Finally, the 3D estimated coordinates of the point to be located are obtained through the K-nearest neighbor matching algorithm. The analysis of the simulation results demonstrates that the average relative error between the reconstructed fingerprint database by the DSR-FP algorithm and the original fingerprint database is 1.21%, indicating that the accuracy of the reconstruction fingerprint database is high, and the influence of the location error can be ignored. The positioning error of the DSR-FP algorithm is less than 0.31 m. Furthermore, at the same signal-to-noise ratio, the positioning error of the DSR-FP algorithm is lesser than that of the traditional fingerprint matching algorithm, while its positioning accuracy is higher.

  • There is a wide range of agreement for reorganization of administrative units. It is expected that regionalization of city governments and city-county consolidation would contribute to enhance efficiency of extension services and weaken citizen accessibility, responsiveness, and participation. Therefore, it is suggested that branch office of extension center should be provided to the isolated rural areas in order to maintain the appropriate level of services. Also, the relationship and linkage between the national/regional government and local extension centers should be reshaped by making current linkage system such as monthly Provincial Meeting and central-local association more effective. Establishment of agricultural database of each local region is needed to strengthen local extension center's role. Finally, extension service agency needs to consider to expand its function from the traditional extension services to a variety of 'rural issues.'

  • For the activation of the Sanhakyeon Consortium, the role of local universities is critical. It is necessary for the university professionals to bring forth detailed alternative plans to upgrade the technological power of the inferior local small & medium enterprises. This means that the local self-governing bodies must database local universities and professional personnel. As a result, the professionals that are needed by enterprises must be designated to those businesses. Also, the regional small and medium enterprises must develop research personnel to enhance their power of technology. To make this possible, the participating companies of Sanhakyeon Consortium should support the students who are participating in the Consortium with research funds, and also should consider how these students can work for those companies after graduation. Finally, the local self-governing bodies must support Sanhak's cooperative research on locally specialized Industries, by forming a technology-human power network between local universities and small Sl medium enterprises.

  • Many bioinformatics sites have managed local bio-databases, including major databases such as GenBank and PIR with update load. We have developed several programs to monitor the update status of these databases and to FTP them automatically. These programs can be used for maintaining local bio-databases as recent versions and providing up-to-date databases through FTP sites. Currently, the program serves major bio-databases and will extend to accommodate many more bio-databases.

  • We must have a schema conflict resolution method for integrating local schema on content integration and management system. But The Past method is inconsistent and depends on local and global databases. In this paper, we propose the management method of schema confilct using XML that can represent and interchange the structual information of schema.

  • The most important issue in database security is correct concurrency control under the restrictive security policy. The goal of secure transaction management is to keep security and provide many concurrent users with the high availability of database. In this paper, we consider the security environment of multidatabase system with replicated data. The read-from relationship in the existed serializability is improper in security environment. So, we define new read-from relationship and propose new secure 1-copy quasi-seriailzability by utilizing this relationship and display some examples. This security environment requires both the existed local autonomy and the security autonomy as newly defined restriction. To solve covert channel problem is the most difficult issue in developing secure scheduling scheme. The proposed secure 1-copy quasi-serializability is very proper for global transactions in that this serializability not violates security autonomy and prevents covert channel between global transactions.

  • In distributed databases, file replication and workload allocation are important design issues. This paper solves these two issues simultaneously, The primary objective is to minimize the system response time that consists of local processing and communication overhead on a local area network. Workload (query transactions) is assigned among any sites in proportion to the remaining file request service rate of the each server The problem is presented in the form of a nonlinear integer programming model. The problem is proved to be NP-complete and thus an efficient heuristic is developed by employing its special structure. To illustrate its effectiveness, it is shown that the proposed heuristic is based on the heuristic of a non-redundant allocation that was provided to be effective. The model and heuristics are likely to provide more effective distributed database designs.
