  • Since the Industrial Age, economic activities have raised environmental concerns, emphasizing the importance of biodiversity conservation areas. However, a fundamental contradiction exists between conservation and utilization, leading to conflicting interests. In light of these issues, the aim of this study was to propose efficient operational strategies for future urban biodiversity conservation areas, while also promoting local community economic development. Accordingly, the focus was the Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve as a case study. The findings reveal the following. First, all local residents recognize the importance of the biosphere reserve and hold a high regard for its direct role in conservation. Second, developing and promoting brands appears to have a more positive impact on local economic activation than activating projects linked to the biosphere reserve. Simultaneously, local residents have expressed negative evaluations of indiscriminate facility development, fearing reckless expansion. Third, if governance is promoted in the future, community participation will likely increase, leading to a strengthening of conservation awareness and the establishment of a framework among local residents and those in adjacent areas. Findings of this study are expected to serve as fundamental data for establishing effective communication among local residents in protected areas facing similar challenges, thus facilitating efficient decision-making processes.

  • Purpose - This thesis aims to increase the success of Korean fashion brands in the Chinese consumer market by providing basic items in fashion colors preferred by women in their twenties and thirties, having the highest purchasing power, in Beijing and Seoul, in the summer of 2012. Research Methodology - The street fashion color data were retrieved for the case study by taking pictures and recording videos at the famous fashion streets in Beijing and Seoul. The WINDOWS SPSS 18.0 program was applied, to determine the frequency of street fashion colors. Results - The results might be ascribed to the tendency of Chinese women to favor the symbolism of traditional colors. Conversely, women in Seoul have more attachment to international fashion color trends than to the traditional color symbolism. Conclusions - This study suggests that Korean companies should consider the differences in street fashion color preferences when planning to launch a fashion brand in the Chinese consumer market. To gain the long-term perspective, further research on the local Chinese area might be essential to help Korean fashion companies and brands launch into the Chinese consumer market.

  • Rapid change of the era has caused change to consumption. New concept of consumer means not consumer who is simply provided a product, but a consumer who lays emphasis on value. That is to say, it indicates a consumer who values both on service and information as well as a product itself when they purchase. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to analyze the changes of POPs and objets at domestic and foreign fashion lingerie shops in different periods, and to encourage the effective introduction of POPs and objets for display at fashion lingerie shops in the future. I have used 100 pictures of 6 domestic brands and 80 of 6 foreign brands to analyze, and the periods were divided into 2000-2003, 2004-2007, and after 2008. The result of analyzing is as follows. First, give much information and great satisfaction to customers through the various types of POP, which convey the image and the concept of the products. If current POP was used only for sales, there ! should be various kinds and types of POPs to present not only basic information of products but also the value beyond it. Second, advance the products value by the presentation of diverse object. Furniture, fixtures, Lighting, Gift Box, Poster and mannequins should be used not to show simple props and presentation of product in the past, but to show brand images and Design concept of products.

  • One noticeable thing about the recently opened 'Starfield Hanam' and 'Hyundai Department Store (Pangyo)' is consumer's interest and positive response to their hosted food brands ranging from restaurants, dessert cafes and coffee shops. Department store and shopping complex, so-called aggregation of lifestyle are making the most out of food brands as a differentiation strategy and consumer's interest on it act as a barometer for current consumption trend. Along with the high interest on food market, changes in lifestyle, such as increasing ratio of two or less households, advent of multiple communication channels as SNS, deluge of information and gradually developing individualism, are creating needs for convenient but high quality eating culture. This need contributed in transforming the product family which was once famous as 'Instant Food' into a 'Home Meal Replacement (HMR)'. Since local food companies are striving to keep pace with the trend and actively penetrating HMR market, regardless of long-term recession, the Korean domestic food market is steadily growing with a bright future.

  • For clothing items that combine the top with the bottom, such as a jumper suit, it is necessary to design original forms to develop clothes in various styles that can satisfy aesthetic and functional needs. Therefore, to determine the original forms of women's jumper suits, this study aimed to analyze the patterns of women's jumper suits being sold in the market comparatively and evaluate their fitness. For the study method, this researcher obtained five types of women's jumper suits from local brands and compared the patterns' measured sizes, then conducted exterior evaluation on the surplus according to five different movements and analyzed the values of distortion of clothing pressure comparatively. According to the results, in the basic posture, brands A and C received favorable results, while in the other movements, brand B, which had the biggest surplus on the bottom, was evaluated favorably. In conclusion, in the patterns of women's jumper suits, a bigger surplus is added to either the crotch length or crotch girth rather than the top length, and the top and the bottom tend to have a different surplus according to the design. In addition, based on the values of body surface lengths according to the range of movements, this study suggests that an additional surplus be added to the length.

Four communities/local designers are selected from the countries through the method of purposive sampling. Qualitative analysis is the basis of the research as we performed personal interviews and in-depth analysis of the communities to diagnose the problems and subsequently devise the solutions. In this research, we have studied and analyzed the problems faced by hereditary communities and ethnic designers in small and medium scale enterprise sector from two emerging economies. • This study evaluated the grain quality of local brand rice from 6 major rice exporting countries which are anticipated to export their rice to Korea. Recently, with the end of the postponement of rice import tariffs in 2014, Korea is in a very easy environment to import foreign rice. Therefore, the quality evaluation of local brand rice in those countries is needed to secure the quality competitiveness of Korean rice, also to protect the rice industry in Korea. We provided total 38 local brand rice from USA(7), China(16), Australia(4), Thailand(3), Vietnam(5) and India(3), and 2 imported brand rice through MMA from USA and China to find out the status of the grain quality for each country. For the quality evaluation, we analyzed the physicochemical properties, milling and palatability-related characteristics. The amylose content on country average ranged from 24.4(India)~16.2%(Thailand). The protein content was 6.66% by overall average, and was higher in order of India(7.86), Australia(6.80), Vietnam(6.61), Thailand(6.59), China(6.28), USA(5.82). In Toyo glossiness value, it ranged from 75.7~45.2, and the figures in USA and China were the highest level. The head rice ratio ranged from 95.2~72.4%, and the figures in Thailand, USA and China were distinctly high. When we analyze the palatability of boiled brand rice with Chucheongbyeo as check variety by expert panelists, several rice brands from USA and China showed equal or better scores in shape, smell, taste, stickiness, texture and overall score, although most rice brands showed a tendency to decrease significantly in the taste characteristics compared with Chucheongbyeo. From the above results, it can be seen that the grain quality of USA and China rice is very competitive when imported into Korea. The results will provide basic information for the quality control of foreign rice which will be imported into Korea in the near future, also for the quality information which could be applied on the development of high-quality Korean rice varieties. Continuous monitoring about the foreign brand rice is advisable to improve the quality competitiveness of Korean rice.
