The role of local government is no longer having to refer to the central government those matters related to local issues, but having the autonomy to make to make decisions that aHect the cOi1lmunity, taking into consideration the particular characteristics of its locality, community opinions, funds and local eHorts to build a better local environment to live in. From this point of view, the role of industrial design is steadily increasing in each local communities. However, at present it appears that no concrete measures have yet been formulated for esigners' participation in the local community development. This is partially due to the lack of awareness by the local government and the lack of eHorts by designers. The primary consideration of recent local development in the form of industrial complex construction appears to be the revenue-orientated aspect of its development. Similarly, the staging of international events in local areas seem to bring out the negative side-eHects of administration. Thus, local problems and revitalization issues should be redirected from local government to local community initiated solutions. Similarly, local governments should instead encourage the development of small and medium-sized rprises than large coporations. And the subject of local development should proceed with the 'software-concept' as its core constituent. Based on these current situations, this study examines the important role of industrial design and proposes a new direction for revitalization of a local area.

As interest in private records began to develop in the research of archivists, discussions began about the value of private records and how to collect and manage private records from the standpoint of archivists. After that, the conceptual discussion on community archives, from the point of view of the community, collecting and preserving their own records, and the democratization of records and the sovereignty of records are discussed. As a result of this trend, maeul making projects were started in each region, and citizen archivists appeared who do archives activities. and research on the role and system of public institutions to support them and community archives. Recently, as research on regional record activities has begun, the current status of education and activities in each region is being announced. in addition archives education programs are being actively conducted nationwide to train citizen archivists. The purpose of this thesis is to find out their identity of their, in order to cultivate sustainable citizen archivists and to suggest the direction the citizen archivists training program should pursue. First, we consider that the educational goal of citizen archivists training program is to train citizen archivists who practice the knowledge learned through education, and examine the identity of 'citizen archivist', the goal of training education. In this study, local archivists are regarded as local members who engage in archiving activities based on their locality, and they are judged to be the main actors and core beings in building community archives. Also the activities of citizen archivists are viewed as active and subjective beings that realize 'Archival autonomy' by implementing 'Archival autonomy'. In addition, it analyzes the cases of researchable citizen archivist training programs in Korea that were conducted to foster local archivists and examines the current situation. Finally, the direction of citizen archivists training program for cultivating citizen archivists is presented. In this paper, I think that the citizen archivists training program should be designed as a curriculum to parctice the education goal, not as public program.

Recently many countries have established data platforms to disclose government-owned data that include administrative data-sets and provide free access to the public via Web. This research analyzes the "Socrata" and "CKAN", the most popular representative open data platforms in the world, and reviews functions and their practical cases in operation in several cities of various nations. It also examines the current status of the data-set services in the City of Seoul to provide conceptual bases for management and service of the local governments' data-sets using open data platform. Then it suggests measures that ensure the long-term preservation and management of data-sets as archives for services, which includes the aspects of preparing systems, creating and managing data, providing services, and selecting platforms.

The various esters of 20R and 20S-dihydroprednisolonic acid were prepared and evaluated for their local and topical anti-inflammatory activities in rats, including systemic effects. It was demonstrated that the size of the substituent at C-21 and configurational arrangement at C-20 have significant effects on local and topical activity. It was also found that all the derivatives did not show systemic effects as accessed by thymus weight and adrenal weight at the dose level used, while prednisolone showed profound effects on thymus weight.

Purpose: Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a rare tumor, accounting for 0.1% of all malignant tumors. Although metastasis is very uncommon, local recurrence occur frequently. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans occurring in children is even more rare; this is the first case report of congenital dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans in Korea. Methods: The patient is a 14-month-old male infant with a lesion that was first thought to be a birthmark. The lesion grew larger, and a punch biopsy revealed dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. A wide local excision was performed with a 2 cm peripheral resection margin beyond the gross tumor lesion. Deep fascia and a portion of muscle underneath the central part of the lesion were also taken. The surgical defect was covered by a split-thickness skin graft. Results: There has been no clinical sign of recurrence over one year after the surgery. Conclusion: A patient with congenital dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans detected at an early stage underwent a wide local excision of the tumor after accurate diagnosis was carried out by biopsy and immunohistochemical studies. There was no clinical evidence of tumor recurrence during over a 1-year follow-up.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the issues of archival contents development for documenting local histories and to suggest the directions of contents development based on case studies. The study begins with analysing four cases of archival contents; two foreign cases for benchmarking, and two domestic cases of the Encyclopedia of Korean Local Cultures, and the local contents of National Archives of Korea. Based on these analyses, it discusses the critical issues of the contents development and suggests the directions of archival contents development for documenting localities.

For evaluating the cytolytic effects on the mouse thymocytes, four typical antiinflammatory steroids (dexamethasone, triamcinolone acetonide, prednisolone, hydrocortisone) were selected in this study. When steroids were treated to the mouse thymocytes in vitro cytolysis occurred with dose-dependent fashion and the activities were found to be paralle with the known local anti-inflammatory activities. In vivo thymus atrophogenic activities appeared by the treatment of topical and subcutaneous applications of the derivatives were also found to dose-dependent, but not coincided with the thymocyte cytolytic activities in vitro and local anti-inflammaatory activity in the case of triamcinolone acetonide. Triamicinolone acetonide induced potent thymocyte cytolysis in vitro, but showed less thymus atrophy.

The microviscosites of the lipid bilayers of liposomal membranes of phospholipids were measured by the intermolecular excimer, formation method employing pyrene as a fluorescence probe, and the effects of n-alkanols and other local anesthetics on the microviscosity were investigated. The results showed that the n-alkanols and the ohter local anesthetics effectively lowered the microviscosity of the lipid bilayer of the dipalmitoyl phosphatidycholine liposomal membrane in proportion to the concentration of the additives. Moreover, there was a fairly good correlation between the ocal anesthetic activities and the microviscosity-lowering activities of these drugs. This results suggests that the nerve blocking activity of local anesthetics might have some relation with their activity fluidizing the lipid bilayer of biomembrane.

Laminated films composed of drug-containing reservoir layer and drug-free membrane were prepared. Zero-order drug release with lag time was achieved by laminating drug-free film onto the reservoir layer, while burst effect was observed on cast-on film. The rate controlling membrane was either attached to or cast directly into the reservoir. The release rate was independent on the reservoir composition but dependent on the composition of rate-controlling membrane. In growth inhibitory test of cephalexin from Eudragit RS film to Streptococcus Mutans, the disk even after release test for 72 hours showed more bacterial growth inhibition than that of control. Permeation of drug through rat skin was proportional to the HPC fraction in the film. We could control the release of cephalexin from the film by changing the fraction of Eudragit RS, HPC and DEP content. Consequently, Eudragit RS/HPC film was found to be very effective system for local delivery of drugs.

Repairing surgical defects of the nose is still challenging due to its tridimensional shape and its aesthetic concern. Difficulty in reconstructing nasal subunits lies in their contour, skin texture and limited availability of adjacent skin. For lower nasal dorsum and supra-tip regions, we design a new combined local flap as existing local flaps may give disappointing results. This combination flap was performed on two patients for reconstruction of the lower nasal dorsum area after basal cell carcinoma excision. Size of the excision ranged from 20 to 25 mm diameter and safe margins were obtained. The defects were reconstructed with a local flap that combined a rotation nasal flank flap and a V-Y advancement nasolabial flap. Excision and reconstruction were performed in a one-stage surgery under intravenous sedation and local anesthesia. There were no postoperative complications and no flap loss occurred. Aesthetic and functional results after 6 months postoperatively were satisfying without modification of nasal shape. This flap is reliable and offers interesting functional and aesthetic outcomes. It can be considered as a new reconstruction alternative for supra-tip and lower nasal dorsum skin defects performed in a one-stage procedure under local anesthesia.
