Coupled Motion Simulation of the Mobile Harbor and Anti-Rolling Devices in Waves

  • The Mobile Harbor(MH) is a new transportation platform that can load and unload containers to and from very large container ships in the sea. This loading and unloading by crane can be performed with only very small movements of the MH in waves because MH is operated outside of the harbor. For this reason, an anti-rolling tank(ART) and an active mass driving system(AMD) were designed to reduce MH's roll motion, especially at the natural frequency of MH. In the conceptual design stage, it is difficult to confirm the design result of theses anti-rolling devices without modeling and simulation tools. Therefore, the coupled MH and anti-rolling devices' dynamic equations in waves were derived and a simulation program that can analyze the roll reduction performance in various conditions, such as sea state, wave direction, and so on, was developed. The coupled equations are constructed as an eight degrees of freedom (DOF) motion that consists of MH's six DOF dynamics and the ART's and AMD's control variables. In order to conveniently include the ART's and AMD's control dynamics in the time domain, MH's radiated wave force was described by an impulse response function derived by the damping coefficient obtained in the frequency domain, and wave exciting forces such as Froude-Krylov force and diffraction force and nonlinear buoyancy were calculated at every simulation time interval. Finally, the roll reduction performances of the designed anti-rolling devices were successfully assessed in the various loading and wave conditions by using a developed simulation program.

Prediction of the welding distortion of large steel structure with mechanical restraint using equivalent load methods

  • The design dimension may not be satisfactory at the final stage due to the welding during the assembly stage, leading to cutting or adding the components in large structure constructions. The productivity is depend on accuracy of the welding quality especially at assembly stage. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to decide the component dimension during each assembly stage considering the above situations during the designing stage by exactly predicting welding deformation before the welding is done. Further, if the system that predicts whether welding deformation is equipped, it is possible to take measures to reduce deformation through FE analysis, helping in saving time for correcting work by arresting the parts which are prone to having welding deformation. For the FE analysis to predict the deformation of a large steel structure, calculation time, modeling, constraints in each assembly stage and critical welding length have to be considered. In case of fillet welding deformation, around 300 mm is sufficient as a critical welding length of the specimen as proposed by the existing researches. However, the critical length in case of butt welding is around 1000 mm, which is far longer than that suggested in the existing researches. For the external constraint, which occurs as the geometry of structure is changed according to the assembly stage, constraint factor is drawn from the elastic FE analysis and test results, and the magnitude of equivalent force according to constraint is decided. The comparison study for the elastic FE analysis result and measurement for the large steel structure based on the above results reveals that the analysis results are in the range of 80-118% against measurement values, both matching each other well. Further, the deformation of fillet welding in the main plate among the total block occupies 66-89%, making welding deformation in the main plate far larger than the welding deformation in the longitudinal and transverse girders.

  • In order to improve the operation of energy systems, it is necessary for the urban communities to have reliable optimization routines, both computerized and manual, implemented in their organizations. However, before a production plan for the energy system units can be constructed, a prediction of the energy systems first needs to be determined. So, several methodologies have been proposed for energy demand prediction, but due to uncertainties in urban community, many of them will fail in practice. The main topic of this paper has been the development of a method for energy demand prediction at urban community. Energy demand prediction is important input parameters to plan for the energy planing. This paper presents a energy demand prediction method which estimates heat and electricity for various building categories. The method has been based on artificial neural networks(ANN). The advantage of ANN with respect to the other method is their ability of modeling a multivariable problem given by the complex relationships between the variables. Also, the ANN can extract the relationships among these variables by means of learning with training data. In this paper, the ANN have been applied in oder to correlate weather conditions, calendar data, schedules, etc. Space heating, cooling, hot water and HVAC electricity can be predicted using this method. This method can produce 10% of errors hourly load profile from individual building to urban community.

A Mathematical Approach to Allocate the Contributions by Applying UPFCs to Transmission System Usage

  • Competitive electricity markets necessitate equitable methods for allocating transmission usage in order to set transmission usage charges and congestion charges in an unbiased and an open-accessed basis. So in competitive markets it is usually necessary to trace the contribution of each participant to line usage, congestion charges and transmission losses, and then to calculate charges based on these contributions. A UPFC offers flexible power system control, and has the powerful advantage of providing, simultaneously and independently, real-time control of voltage, impedance and phase angle, which are the basic power system parameters on which sys-tem performance depends. Therefore, UPFC can be used efficiently and flexibly to optimize line utilization and increase system capability and to enhance transmission stability and dampen system oscillations. In this paper, a mathematical approach to allocate the contributions of system users and UPFCs to transmission system usage is presented. The paper uses a dc-based load flow modeling of UPFC-inserted transmission lines in which the injection model of the UPFC is used. The relationships presented in the paper showed modified distribution factors that modeled impact of utilizing UPFCs on line flows and system usage. The derived relationships show how bus voltage angles are attributed to each of changes in generation, injections of UPFC, and changes in admittance matrix caused by inserting UPFCs in lines. The relationships derived are applied to two test systems. The results illustrate how transmission usage would be affected when UPFC is utilized. The relationships derived can be adopted for the purpose of allocating usage and payments to users of transmission network and owners of UPFCs used in the network. The relationships can be modified or extended for other control devices.

  • 스쿼트와 런지운동은 다양한 프리웨이트운동 중 몸통과 하체강화를 위한 중요한 운동으로 운동자세에 대한 이론적 근거 및 운동기준 동작의 확립을 통해 안전하고 효과적인 운동이 이루어져야 한다. 따라서 옵티멀 운동동작을 통한 부상 예방과 오류 동작에 대한 과학적 대응방안을 마련하기 위해 운동모형의 개발이 필요한 현실이며 이러한 목적으로 오류동작에 따른 자세교정을 위해 다양한 보조기구를 활용하는 방법이 효과적이다. 본 논문에서는 프리웨이트운동의 동적분석을 위해 지면반발력에 대응한 로드셀을 이용한 4포인트 하중검출을 통해 동적동작에 기반한 운동모형 분석시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 프리웨이트운동의 모형개발을 위해 동적 움직임을 단순화하여 구분동작에 따른 운동 모델링을 확립하고 동적인 동작분석을 통해 오류동작을 분석하고 보정하기 위한 수치정량화 데이터를 확보하였고 이를 활용할 수 있는 분석방법에 대한 타당성을 검증하였다.

하이브리드 강섬유 보강 초고강도 콘크리트 보의 휨강도 (Flexural Strength of Hybrid Steel Fiber-Reinforced Ultra-High Strength Concrete Beams)

  • 이 논문에서는 하이브리드 강섬유로 보강된 콘크리트의 부재의 휨강도를 예측하기 위한 수치해석기법을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 휨을 받는 하이브리드 강섬유 보강 콘크리트 실험과 수치해석연구를 수행하였다. 부피비 1.5%의 하이브리드 강섬유 보강 초고강도 콘크리트의 휨거동 특성 실험을 수행하였다. 강섬유보강 콘크리트의 인장연화특성은 구조적 거동에 매우 중요한 역할을 하며, 하이브리드 강섬유 보강 초고강도 콘크리트의 하중-균열개구변위 실험결과를 반영하여 가상균열모델에 근거한 역해석에 의해 인장연화모델링을 수행하였다. 제안기법에 의한 콘크리트 보의 모멘트-곡률 수치해석결과를 실험결과와 비교하였으며, 수치해석결과와 실험결과는 전반적으로 잘 일치하고 있다. 따라서, 제안기법에 의해 강섬유 보강 초고강도 콘크리트 보의 휨강도를 합리적으로 예측할 수 있다고 판단된다.

경로의존형 체적제어법을 이용한 철근콘크리트 중공 기둥의 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Hollow Columns Using Path-dependent Volume Control Method)

  • 철근콘크리트 적층 쉘 요소에 압력 증분을 추가 자유도로 갖는 압력 절점을 추가하여 쉘 구조물의 체적 제어를 통해 비선형해석을 하는 체적제어법은 기존의 유한요소해석 기법인 하중제어법과 변위제어법이 갖는 한계를 극복하기 위해 개발된 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 개선된 체적제어법을 통해 다양한 하중을 받는 철근콘크리트 중공형 기둥 구조물의 경로의존적 거동을 효과적으로 분석하기 위해 역반복하중을 받는 철근콘크리트 중공형 기둥 구조물과 횡하중과 축력을 동시에 받는 철근콘크리트 중공형 기둥 구조물 등에 대한 비선형해석을 수행하였으며, 실험 결과 및 해석 결과와의 비교를 통해 유한요소해석 기법으로서의 체적제어법의 적용성 및 타당성을 입증하였다.

수치모형을 이용한 금호강 수계 내 4-Nitrophenol의 거동 모의 및 잠재 오염원의 영향 분석 (Simulation of the Route of 4-Nitrophenol in the Geumho River and Analysis of the Impact of Potential Contamination Sources using a Numerical Model)

  • For areas with the diverse contamination sources, the change of 4-nitrophenol contamination and impact of potential contamination sources have been evaluated using monitoring data and a numerical model (HydroGeoSphere). The model considered several parameters including land cover, precipitation, and flow rate. And, the model has been performed to investigate the effect of decay rate of 4-nitrophenol. The results of the simulations showed that the influence on 4-nitrophenol in downstream was mainly greater than that in upstream, and the tributaries did not significantly affect the mainstream because of their low flow rates. In addition, the effect of contamination sources was simulated for each section, then the measured data were higher than the corresponding simulated data in most sections of the Geumho river. In particular, the impact of the potential contamination sources in the upstream area was much higher than that in the other area, thus more monitoring data for the upstream area is required.

빠른 조류 환경에서의 재킷식 해양구조물 시공 중 및 운영 중 장기 변형률 계측 및 분석 (Long-Term Measurement of Static Strains of Jacket Type Offshore Structure under Severe Tidal Current Environments)

  • 이 연구에서는 빠른 조류 환경에서의 재킷식 해양구조물인 울돌목 시험조류발전소 구조물에 대한 시공 중 및 운영 중 변형률을 장기 계측하여, 계측 자료를 다양하게 분석하였다. 우선 구조물 시공 단계별 변형률 응답의 변화를 분석하여, 양중, 블록재하, 파일 인발 및 근입 등의 작업 시 변형률에 큰 변화가 발생함을 제시하였다. 또한 재킷 레그 절단과 같은 구조변경 후의 고정하중 및 조류하중에 의한 변형률 변화를 분석하여, 조류하중보다는 고정하중에 의한 변형률의 변화가 크게 발생함을 확인하였으며, 운영 중 계측 결과로부터 주요 변동 주기 성분을 분석하여, 변형률 계측 자료에 M2 및 M4 조석 성분과 동일한 주기를 갖는 장주기 성분이 가장 크게 존재함을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 변형률 기반의 구조 건전성 모니터링에 있어 중요한 변형률 예측 모델을 신경망 기반으로 작성하여, 조류 유속 및 조위에 따른 변형률을 합리적인 수준에서 예측할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

요소 절단법을 사용한 섬유강화 복합재료의 대규모 통계적 체적 요소 모델 개발 (Development of the Big-size Statistical Volume Elements (BSVEs) Model for Fiber Reinforced Composite Based on the Mesh Cutting Technique)

  • 본 논문에서는 섬유강화복합재의 멀티스케일 해석을 위해 필요한 대규모/소규모 통계적 체적요소 모델을 개발하였다. 미시영역모델의 크기효과를 최소화하기 위해서 섬유를 최대한 포함한 거대모델을 구성하였다. 이를 위해 국부 영역의 요소 절단법을 이용하여 전체 유한요소 크기에 상관없이 신속한 격자 섬유/기지의 모델링이 가능한 요소생성기를 구성하였다. 이를 통해 대규모 통계 체적 모델을 도출하여 체적모델의 크기에 따른 국부하중 공유의 차이를 고찰하고, 섬유방향의 연속체손상역학모델을 BSVEs 모델 해석으로부터 도출 하였다. BSVEs 모델을 보편적인 RVE모델과 비교 검증하였다.
