Experimental Method for Durability Evaluation of a Chisel Mounted on a Composite Working Implement

  • Purpose: A chisel mounted on working implement, such as agricultural machinery used in irregular farming conditions, is subjected to highly variable fatigue loading during work. To ensure the safety of the chisel on a working implement for the duration of its service life, fatigue testing must be performed with the proper fatigue test load conditions. In this study, working loads for a chisel were developed by reconstructing loads from strain gage data collected during field tests and used to conduct fatigue tests on the chisel component. Methods: FE analysis with nCode software was utilized to select the proper quantity and locations of strain gages for load measurements. A fatigue test was performed to experimentally verify the fatigue strength of the chisel and to evaluate the validity of the load history developed with the load reconstruction technique. Results: A strain history for the chisel was obtained from data collected during field tests. The data was filtered for the 14-16 km/h speed range, connected, and merged. The chisel load history was developed using the load reconstruction technique. The resulting load history was expressed as a load spectrum using the rain-flow counting method. Conclusions: A fatigue test was conducted on a chisel under a constant load condition with an equivalent load amplitude and number of cycles, as calculated by Miner's Rule for linear damage accumulation. During the fatigue test, there were no cracks at any position. It is concluded that the fatigue test method proposed in this study can be utilized successfully as a durability evaluation method for the chisel.

TCN 딥러닝 모델을 이용한 최대전력 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Peak Load Prediction Using TCN Deep Learning Model)

  • 안정적으로 전력을 공급하고 전력계통을 운영하기 위해서는 최대전력을 정확히 예측해야 한다. 특히, 최대전력이 높게 발생하는 겨울과 여름에는 그 중요성이 매우 커진다. 최대전력을 실제 수요보다 높게 예측하면 발전소 기동 비용이 증가하여 경제적 손실이 발생하고, 최대전력을 실제 수요보다 낮게 예측하면 기동이 가능한 발전소가 부족하여 정전이 발생할 수 있다. 최대전력의 예측 오차를 최소화함으로써 경제적 손실과 정전을 예방할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 최대전력 예측의 오차를 최소화하기 위하여 최신 딥러닝 모델인 TCN을 이용한다. 딥러닝 모델은 하이퍼 파라미터를 어떻게 설정하느냐에 따라 성능 차이가 발생하므로, TCN의 하이퍼 파라미터를 최적화하는 방법을 제안한다. 2006년부터 2021년까지의 데이터를 입력하여 모델을 훈련하고, 2022년의 데이터를 이용하여 예측 오차를 실험하였다. 실험을 수행한 결과 본 논문에서 제안한 최적화 방법을 이용한 TCN 모델의 성능이 다른 딥러닝 모델보다 성능이 우수한 것을 확인하였다.

Prediction of total sediment load: A case study of Wadi Arbaat in eastern Sudan

  • Prediction of total sediment load is essential in an extensive range of problems such as the design of the dead volume of dams, design of stable channels, sediment transport in the rivers, calculation of bridge piers degradation, prediction of sand and gravel mining effects on river-bed equilibrium, determination of the environmental impacts and dredging necessities. This paper is aimed to investigate and predict the total sediment load of the Wadi Arbaat in Eastern Sudan. The study was estimated the sediment load by separate total sediment load into bedload and Suspended Load (SL), independently. Although the sediment records are not sufficient to construct the discharge-sediment yield relationship and Sediment Rating Curve (SRC), the total sediment loads were predicted based on the discharge and Suspended Sediment Concentration (SSC). The turbidity data NTU in water quality has been used for prediction of the SSC in the estimation of suspended Sediment Yield (SY) transport of Wadi Arbaat. The sediment curves can be used for the estimation of the suspended SYs from the watershed area. The amount of information available for Khor Arbaat case study on sediment is poor data. However, the total sediment load is essential for the optimal control of the sediment transport on Khor Arbaat sediment and the protection of the dams on the upper gate area. The results show that the proposed model is found to be considered adequate to predict the total sediment load.

효율적 데이터 스트림 분석을 위한 발생빈도 예측 기법을 이용한 과부하 처리 (Load Shedding via Predicting the Frequency of Tuple for Efficient Analsis over Data Streams)

  • 근래 들어 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 및 센서 네트워크 환경 등과 같은 다양한 응용 분야에서 데이터 스트림 형태의 정보를 발생시키고 있으며, 이들 정보를 효율적으로 처리하기 위한 다양한 방법들이 활발히 제안되어 왔다. 대부분의 이들 방법들은 주로 처리 과정에서의 공간 사용량 및 데이터당 처리 시간을 줄이는데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 하지만 이들 방법들에서 데이터 발생량이 급격히 증가되는 경우 일부 데이터는 실시간으로 처리되지 못하며 해당 방법의 성능 저하를 초래한다. 따라서, 데이터 스트림 처리의 효율성을 높이기 위해서는 효율적인 과부하 처리 기법을 필요로 한다. 이를 위해서 본 논문에서는 발생빈도 예측법을 이용한 과부하 처리 기법을 제안한다. 즉, 해당 기법에서는 처리 대상 데이터의 현재 시점까지의 발생빈도를 고려하여 해당 데이터의 향후 발생 상황을 예측하며, 이를 통해서 해당 데이터 스트림에서 과부하가 발생했을 때 효율적으로 대처할 수 있도록 지원한다. 또한, 제안되는 방법에서는 데이터 스트림의 변화를 고려하여 튜플 선별을 위한 임계값을 적응적으로 조절함으로써 불필요한 과부하 처리 수행을 최소화한다.

  • This paper presents the development of an Artificial Neural Networks(ANN) for Short-Term Load Forecasting(STLF). First, used historical load data is divided into 5 patterns for the each seasonal data using Kohonen networks. Second, classified data is used as inputs of Back-propagation networks for next day hourly load forecasting. The proposed method was tested with KEPCO hourly record (1994-95) and we obtained desirable results.

  • Ice storage system stores cold energy using ice, which is used for cooling on next day. Ice storage system is the effective cooling system that uses cheep electric energy during a night, and also suppresses the peak load of electricity. In this study, the normalized temperature, relative humidity and specific humidity are analyzed using the weather data for past five years in order to estimate the cooling load for the control of ice storage system. The calculated cooling loads show fairly good agreement with the measured data of model hospital, especially at the outdoor design temperature of $25^{\circ}C$.

  • In the context of increasing electric energy consumption in a data center, energy efficiency improvement is strongly emphasized. In a data center, electric energy is largely consumed by DC power supply system, which is based on a rectifier composed by multiple parallel converters. Therefore, rectifier efficiency must be improved for minimizing loss of DC power supply system. Rectifier efficiency can be modulated by load allocation to converters because converter efficiency depends on input AC power. In this paper, we propose a new control method to maximize rectifier efficiency. The method can control load allocation to converters by introducing active power converter control scheme and start-and-stop of converters. In order to illustrate optimal load allocations in a rectifier, a maximization problem of rectifier efficiency is formulated as a nonlinear optimization one. The problem is solved by Lagrangian relaxation method and the computation results provide the validity of proposed method.

  • Load analysis software enables to design wind turbines effectively and exactly. In this paper, Bladed software developed by Garrad Hassan and Partners is used for load analysis. When using Bladed software, many time is requested to input data which is called by pre-processing. So in this paper, pre-processing Is automated by in-house software(BX) With this BX software, we can reduce the total time for pre-processing about 90%.

  • The electric power load during the peak time in summer is strongly affected by cooling load. which decreases the preparation ratio of electricity and brings about the failure in the supply of electricity in the electric power system. The ice-storage system and heat pump system etc are used to settle this problem. In this study, the method of estimating temperature and humidity to forecast the cooling load of ice-storage system is suggested. And also the method of forecasting the cooling load using neural network is suggested. For the simulation, the cooling load is calculated using actual temperature and humidity. The forecast of the temperature, humidity and cooling load are simulated. As a result of the simulation, the forecasted data approached to the actual data.

  • Live load data in domestic office buildings have been collected in a systematic manner. Based on surveyed data, equivalent uniformly distributed load intensities, which produce the same load effect as the actual spatially varying live load, have been obtained for various structural members(such as slab, beam, column, etc.). Influence surface method has been employed to compute load effects under real live load, inclucing beam moment, slab moment as well as axial force and moments in column. The results have been examined to find probabilistic characteristics and relationship between influence area and load intensity(or coefficient of variation). The results were also compared with other survey results and found to be reasonable.
