  • On February 18, 2019, the Chinese government officially released the Outline of the Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which will lead the country in a new round of reform and opening-up. The Greater Bay Area will become a dynamic world-class city cluster, an international scientific and technological innovation center with global influence, an important support for the development of the "One Belt And One Road", a demonstration area for in-depth cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, and a high-quality living area for living, working and traveling. Non-Pearl River Delta(Non-PRD) cities in Guangdong Province are adjacent to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, so it is of practical significance to promote the high-quality development of urban tourism from an international perspective. Based on the panel data released in Guangdong Yearbook 2019, this paper uses the envelopment data analysis (DEA) method to explore ways to promote the high-quality tourism development of Non-PRD cities in Guangdong Province based on the perspective of international development.

  • The typical Japanese house has the characteristics of open dwellings to make them cool in the hot and humid summer. And then the traditional town house 'Machiya', being built very closely to each other and walled up both sides, it has taken the open-oriented characteristics in itself. The purpose of this study is to clarify that the open-oriented of traditional 'Machiya' has been succeeded to the new 'Machiya' in the latest. The new 'Machiya' shows the open-oriented, taking the ventilative 'Huki-nuke' space of traditional 'Machiya' as the new spatial formal elements, in the changes such as scale material space organization. The characteristics of 'Huki-nuke' space are represented as follows ; 1. The facade of the traditional 'Machiya', which has taken on a semitransparent qualty, has been generally changed to the closing qualty except for the open parts of shop and garage. This facade of the new 'Machiya' has been taken to be in keeping with the existing town as much as possible. 2. A series of three rooms, composed of shop/living dining kitchen/room from the road, have been dispersed to every floors in a building with a very extensive scale. But this serial and linear type remains as the loosefit space, and the long dwellings of the upper stories are divided by type each dwelling unit. 3. 'Tori-niwa', which is a consecutive and penetrating space, connects the road with the rooms of dwelling and functions as the circulation of man thing energy, The new 'Machiya' changed to the multi-story, the corridor and the stair have been fumed up as the elements in the place of 'Tori-niwa' The 'Huki-nuke' space was locted in the hall, stairwell, living dining kitchen room, and so on. 4. The small court yard 'Tsubo-niwa' and back yard 'Ura-niwa' at the both ends of living spaces would be made a hole in a series of rooms and enclosed by the neighboring 'Machiya'. On the contrary the new 'Machiya' at present takes in the private and closing organization enclosing the innercourt. 5. The open-oriented ${\ulcorner}$In${\lrcorner}$ or ${\ulcorner}$Out${\lrcorner}$ is not brought out because of the delicate spatial formal configuration in the traditional 'Machiya'. But the open-oriented ${\ulcorner}$In${\lrcorner}$, all sides being closed by walls, is well brought out in the new 'Machiya'.

  • Beyond the millennium industrial development affects all of our life, and the growth of the automobile among them provides us with convenience of the living. One, however, was regarded as important to recognize the safety of the parking rather today than any past, getting together with the increasing auto population into the popularization gradually. It was needed to develope an active system and safety equipment in order to protect against an accident because there were so many accidents during the parking about which one felt relief. The objectives of this study was to develop a supporting structure with high static friction, adapt to various road environments, such as an unpaved road, a wet paved road, controling an angle, considering a portable and moveable device in order to prevent an accident during parking. As it mentioned above, the novel supporting structure had four strengths rather than a previous supporting structure, a practical new design (1998 084336 B60C) The implication of the study was the inspiration from warning of the parking accident almost 10 % of the total traffic accident in Korea, tries to find a solution to a problem in order to decrease the parking accident, in addition, makes it regulation ,and it was implied to the orientation about the popularization and the practical use of the new supporting structure which was developed

  • Recently, traffic congestion in the city is continuously increasing due to the expansion of the living area centered in the metropolitan area and the concentration of population in large cities. New road construction has become impossible due to the increase in land prices in downtown areas and limited sites, and the importance of efficient data-based road operation is increasingly emerging. For efficient road operation, it is essential to classify appropriate scenarios according to changes in traffic conditions and to operate optimal signals for each scenario. In this study, the Dynamic Time Warping model for cluster analysis of time series data was applied to traffic volume and speed data collected at continuous intersections for optimal scenario classification. We propose a methodology for composing an optimal signal operation scenario by analyzing the characteristics of the scenarios for each data used for classification.

  • Cormac McCarthy's The Road depicts a post-apocalyptic future in which the time and reason of catastrophe are not specified, but it can be seen to project the contemporary social and ethical concerns in the dismal setting. In this respect, the journey the man and boy depart for to the South is on one hand a journey to seek a warmer place to support their lives in the literal sense and, on the other hand, a journey to seek 'what a human being is' in the devastated world in a metaphorical sense since they face extremely harsh and tremendously poignant conditions in which their creed as human beings is tested. This paper aims to explore the hazards of the current society that the text criticizes and the morality and ethical values to be preserved and pursued. The second chapter examines how the text describes the contemporary crisis through the dark and coldness of the land and its sterility. The land produces almost nothing as the entire surface was scorched and is now covered with thick ashes. It shows perfectly a destroyed and irrecoverably frozen land. Throughout this desolate and ruined land, the atrocity and violence of the survivors goes beyond the limit. Ravaging strangers and plundering villages are widely spread. These conditions mirror the apparent selfishness and immorality of the recent society. The third chapter analyzes the man's inconsistent or dualistic narrative on the good. He knows what the good is but doesn't allow the boy to demonstrate the good behavior on others. His conflict is rooted in his hope to protect his son from being attacked by others. Therefore it can be interpreted that the meaning and orders of living in this post-apocalyptic period are uncertain and indecisive. The fourth chapter examines the belief the man and the boy clings to. Unlike the man's contradictory decisions, he shows definite firmness to be 'the good' by not eating people and carrying 'the fire.' Until he dies, the man endeavors to protect his son and have him acquire the moral conviction and strength to carry the fire in the world. In conclusion, the text reads the current society critically and highlights the importance of the humanity that must not be discarded throughout the generations.

  • Schistosoma mansoni is highly endemic in Tanzania and affects all age groups at different degrees. However, its control approach does not include adult individuals who are equally at risk and infected. To justify the inclusion of adult individuals in MDA programs in Tanzania, the present study focused on determining the prevalence of S. mansoni infection and its related morbidities among adult individuals. This was a cross sectional study conducted among 412 adult individuals aged 18-89 years living in selected villages of Rorya and Butiama districts located along the shoreline of the Lake Victoria. A pretested questionnaire was used to collect socio-demographic and socio-economic information of participants. Ultrasonographic examinations were conducted for all study participants using the Niamey protocol. A single stool sample was obtained from all study participants and examined for S. mansoni using the Kato-Katz technique. The study revealed a high prevalence of S. mansoni (56.3%), and the majority of infected individuals had a light intensity of infection. Ultrasonographic findings revealed that 22.4% of adult individuals had periportal fibrosis (PPF) (grade C-F), with 18.4% having grade C and D and 4% having grade E and F. Males had the highest prevalence of PPF (31.7% vs 10.8%, P<0.001). Organomegaly was common with 28.5% and 29.6% having splenomegaly and hepatomegaly, respectively. S. mansoni infection and its related morbidities included PPF, hepatomegaly, and splenomegaly were common among adult individuals. To reduce the level of transmission of S. mansoni infection, planned mass drug administration campaigns should include adult individuals living in these villages.

  • This study examines the locational characteristics and change of business type in the residental areas that have commercial gentrification issues in Seoul, Korea, using the logistic regression model. The analysis results indicate that the gentrification occurrence areas are strongly associated with low-density and old residential areas. In addition, those areas are more likely to have great accessibilities to highway ramp, subway station, colleges, and other facilities that attract people. Regarding the characteristics of the road, gentrification occurrence areas are associated with longer road length, lower rate of road areas, higher local integration of road network, and higher rate of three-way intersections. This finding indicates that low-density and old residential areas with organic road networks have strong links with commercial gentrification. This study also finds that the business type has been substantially changed from 2006 to 2014 in the commercially gentrified residential areas. While the coffee shops and drinking places have been increased, but neighborhood-living facilities have been decreased. This study also shows that the business life-cycles of drinking places or Korean restaurant are getting short. Finally, this study discusses the commercial gentrification issues and policy implications in the residential districts in Seoul, Korea.
