Bridgman법에 의한 금속급 다결정 Si의 결정성장 및 특성평가에 관한 연구 (Crystal Growth and Characterization of Metallurgical-grade Polycrystalline Silicon by the Bridgman Method)

  • Metallurgical-grade polycrystalline silicon was directionally solidified at growth rates of $0.2{\sim}1.0mm/min$ by using split type, reusable graphite molds which were coated with $Si_3N_4$ powder. The resultant grain sizes of the silicon ingots and the shapes of the solid/liquid(S/L) interfaces were investigated. X-ray diffraction was used to determine the preferred orientation in each of the silicon ingots. The impurity content of the silicon was analyzed and the resistivities of the ingots were measured. During the growth of an ingot, the shape of the S/L interface was concave to the silicon melt, and the resistivity decreased. The presence of Al which can be acting as a carrier, is thought to be the main factor causing such a decrease in resistivity. When a growth rate of 0.2㎜/min was used, the preferred orientation was found to be (111).

  • Ternary blend fibers (TBFs) based on melt blends of PEN, PET, and TLCP were prepared by melt blending and spinning to achieve high performance fibers. The reinforcement effect and the TLCP fibrillar structure resulted in the improvement of mechanical properties for TBFs. Molecular orientation was an important factor in determining the tensile strength and modulus of TBFs. Another part of this research is silica nano-particle filled PEN composites were melt-blended to improve mechanical and physicalproperties, and processability. The tensile modulus and strength were improved adding silica nano-particles to the PEN. The decreased melt viscosity by the fumed silica resulted in the improvement of the processability. The fumed silica may act as a nucleating agent in the PEN matrix.

배향막의 극성이 a-TN-LCD의 전기광학특성에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Polarity of the Orientation Film for Electro-optical Characteristics on a-TN-LCD)

  • We investigated the electro-optical characteristics of amorphous (a) - twisted nematic (TN) - liquid crystal display (LCD) on polyimide (Pl) films with different polarity. It was found that the threshold voltage of a-TN-LCD is decreased with increasing the polarity of the Pl film. We considered that the threshold voltage in a-TN-LCD is affected to the surface anchoring strength with polarity of the Pl films. Also, we observed the response time of a-TN-LCD on medium polarity of the Pl film is fast compared to high polarity of the Pl film. Finally, we obtained that the viewing angle of a-TN-LCD are almost same on different polarity of the PI films.

  • We have studied the optically compensated splay (OCS) mode using reactive mesogen monomer to reduce critical voltage, setting voltage and phase transition time from initial bend to splay state. The high pretilt angle from vertical alignment was formed through the polymerization of UV curable RM monomer at the surfaces. In this way, orientation of the LC with OCS can be achieved without setting voltage.

  • 광 정보 처리 특성을 극대화하기 위해 실시간 동작이 가능한 공간 광 변조기를 사용하며 그중 액정 화면은 기존의 공간 광 변조기에 비해 가격이 저렴하고 특히 꼬인 네마틱 액정 화면 공간 광 변조기는 전기 신호에 따라 광을 변조 할 수 있다는 원리에 의해 여러 가지 이론과 설계 방법이 연구되었으며 기본 매개 변수들을 효과적으로 계산하는 방법이 계속 발표되었다. 본 논문에서는 원형 편광 된 광을 꼬인 네마틱 결정을 갖는 공간 광 변조기에 투사 시켜서 검광기에 통과한 세기 분포를 관찰하여 이상 굴절 축의 회전 방향을 결정하는 방법을 제안하였으며, 존스 행렬을 사용하여 수학적 타당성을 부여하였다.

  • YBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$ thin films for coated conductor application were deposited on a MgO single crystalline substrate by a metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) system of a vertical type using a single liquid source. The film uniformity was enhanced by controlling the gas shower head structure, the distance between the shower head and substrate, and the rotation of the substrate. The source mole ratio of Y(thd)$_3$: Ba(thd)$_2$: Cu(thd)$_2$ was changed for obtaining stoichiometric film. The phase formation, crystal orientation, surface morphology and film composition were investigated with different source mole ratios, and the critical temperature (T$_{c}$) was measured.red.

  • The molecular reorientations and surface morphologies of rubbed films formed from atactic polystyrene (PS) samples with various molecular weights were investigated in detail. Previously unknown surface topography features were newly discovered in rubbed films, depending on molecular weights: submicroscale groove-like meandering structures composed of fine-grooves like pebbles in tens nanometers are present, oriented perpendicular to the rubbing direction. The vinyl main chains, however, were preferentially reoriented along the rubbing direction and the planes of the phenyl side groups were preferentially reoriented perpendicular to the rubbing direction with para-directions that were positioned nearly normal to the film plane. Nematic liquid crystal (LC) molecules were found to always align on the rubbed PS surfaces along the orientation direction of the submicroscale grooves generated by rubbing.

  • 본 논문은 매트릭스 수지로 LCP(Liquid crystal polymer)를 사용하였으며, 기계적 특성 및 화학적 특성을 증대시키기 위해 주 첨가제로 synthetic graphite, expanded graphite와 보조 첨가제로는 carbon black을 사용하여, 함량 별로 복합소재를 제조하였다. 사출성형 전 CAE 프로그램으로 해석을 하였으며, 유동성과 섬유 배향을 예측 했다. 복합 소재는 전동식 사출기를 이용하여 ASTM 복합 시편으로 사출성형 하였으며, 시편을 four point probe 장치를 사용하여 전기전도도를 측정/비교 하였으며, 기계적 강도는 굴곡강도, 굴곡탄성률, 충격강도를 측정하였다. 첨가제가 증가할 수록 전기전도도는 증가하나 첨가제의 brittle한 특성으로 인해 기계적 강도는 감소하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

가공온도에 따라 다이업셋한 Nd-Fe-B-Cu 합금의 응력과 결정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stress and Crystal in Die-Upsetted Nd-Fe-B-Cu Alloys as a Function of Working Temperature)

  • This study is to investigate the stress distributions, crystal orientations and magnetic properties during die-upsetting according to working temperature of Nd-Fe-B-Cu alloys. The stress distributions in the specimens during compressing process were calculated by a finite element method program(SPID). The calculated stresses were effective stress (${\sigma}_{eff}$), compression stress(${\sigma}_z$), radial direction stress(${\sigma}_r$) rotational direction stress(${\sigma}_e$) and shear stress(${\tau}_{rz}$). The stress distributions of ${\sigma}_z$, obtained by a computer simulation showed that the stress components causing the magnetic alignment during die-upsetting of the cast magnets were very high at the center-part of a specimen, and decreased toward the periphery-part of a specimen. In view of the above results the magnetic properties should be better at the center-part of a specimen than any other parts. But the measured magnetic properties were better at the mid-part. These results should be due to the fact that the specimens were casted. Normally the magnetic properties are affected by the casting process as well as by the stress levels. ${\sigma}_r$, ${\sigma}_e$ are thought to affect the liquid phase flowing and domain patterns, respectively. The influence of ${\tau}_{rz}$ was trivial, ${\sigma}_{eff}$ distributed similar throughout the specimen. The Nd-rich phase appeared at the peripheral of the specimen where the stress level of ${\sigma}_r$, ${\sigma}_z$, was low or the stress level of ${\sigma}_e$ was high. The Nd-rich phase was squeezed out during die-upsetting. This phase had an effect on the crystal orientation and grain growth. The stress distributions of alloy were irregular at the parts of the specimen where the die contacted with specimen.

견 Monofilament의 연신과 가수분해에 의한 특성변화 (Changes in Properties of Silk Monofilament Caused by Drawing and Hydrolysis)

  • 견단백질을 구성하는 액상견사막인 중부견사막을 추출한 후, 약3배로 급속히 연신하여 견 monofilament를 제작하였다. 이 시료를 연화시켜 분자간의 수소결합능을 저하시키기 위해 비등상태의 증류수에 팽윤시킨 다음 연신처리를 행한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 열분석과 X선회석의 결과로부터 견사막건조물시료은 Silk I형의 결정영역 및 random 무정형분자로 구성되어 있었으나 monofilament시료에서는 부분적으로 Silk II형결정이 발현하기 시작하여 더욱더 연신한 62.5% 연신시료에서는 거의 완전한 Silk II형결정으로 전이하는 것을 알 수 있다. 2. 복굴절율 및 밀도는 monofilament시료에 비해 연신율의 상승과 함께 증가하는 경향을 나타내어 견 fibroin분자의 배향은 초기에 급격히 증가하여 fibroin분자의 배향이 완성되었다. 3. 가수분해처리에 의한 복굴절율은 연신율의 상승에 따라서 증가하는 경향이었다. 또, 가수분해의 처리시간과의 관계에서는 연신율이 증가함에 따라 복굴절율도 거의 일정하게 나타나 배향결정화가 진행되어 배열이 좋게 되어진 무정형이 결정으로 전이하는 것이 시사되었다. 4. 62.5% 연신시료를 가수분해한 경우의 X선회절은 가수분해에 의해 배향의 흐트러짐은 생기나 결정풍괴는 일어나지 않았다. 열분석에서도 가수분해의 처리시간이 증가함에 따라 최대흡열 peak 온도는 저온측으로 이동하여 가수분해처리에 의해 고배향의 무정형부분이 유출로 인하여 결정부분의 배향이 흐트러진다는 것이 X선분석 결과로부터 추측되어진다.
