  • In this paper, we propose the image encryption using LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Register) and 2D CAT(Two-Dimensional Cellular Automata Transform). First, a LFSR is used to create a PN(pseudo noise) sequence, which is identical to the size of the original image. Then, the created sequence goes through a XOR operation with the original image to convert the original image. Next, the gateway value is set to produce a 2D CAT basis function. Using the created basis function, multiplication is done with the converted original image to process 2D CAT image encipherment. Lastly, the stability analysis verifies that the proposed method holds a high encryption quality status.

  • In this paper, we propose a Linear Prediction (LP) analysis-based feature for detecting Snapping Shrimp (SS) Noise (SSN) in underwater acoustic data. SS is a species that creates high amplitude signals in shallow, warm waters, and its frequent and loud sound is a major source of noise. The proposed feature takes advantage of the characteristic of SSN, which is sudden and rapidly disappearing, by using LP analysis to detect the exact noise interval and reduce the effects of SSN. The error between the predicted and measured value is large and results in effective SSN detection. To further improve performance, a constant false alarm rate detector is incorporated into the proposed feature. Our evaluation shows that the proposed methods outperform the state-of-the-art MultiLayer-Wavelet Packet Decomposition (ML-WPD) in terms of receiver operating characteristic curve and Area Under the Curve (AUC), with the LP analysis-based feature achieving a higher AUC by 0.12 on average and lower computational complexity.

  • A state feedback controller and an observer have been developed and analyzed for an aircraft's safe landing in the windshear called microburst. The observer estimates the ambient wind field as well as the full-order longitudinal state vector. The controller uses the wind and state estimates for guiding the control inputs for safe landing. For the observer and controller gains, the design methodologies of linear quadratic estimation and linear quadratic regulation have been exploited. Analysis shows that some of the microburst-induced aircraft accidents in the past might have been avoided with the designed autopilot.

  • In this paper, the radiated sound pressure induced by low velocity impact is obtained by solving the Rayleigh integral equation. For structurally radiated noise, the sound field is directly coupled to the structural motion. Therefore the impact response should be analyzed. It is well known that the presence of the delamination in a composite laminate introduces a local flexibility which changes the dynamic characteristic of the structure. The 2-D simplified delamination model is used to analyze the impact response. And the 3-D non-linear finite element model is developed using gap element to avoid the overlap and penetration between the upper and lower sub-laminates at delamination region. Predicted impact response using 2-D equivalent delamination model are compared with the numerical ones from the 3-D non-linear finite element model.

  • In this paper, we propose a modified median filter for impulse noise reduction. The proposed method based on multi-step finds noisy pixels from the corrupted image and applies filtering on the noisy pixels. Neighbor pixels for filtering are filtered by linear filter which adjusts filtering direction according to an edge. Thus, our proposed method not only preserves edge, but also reduces noise in uniform region. Experimental results show that our proposed method has better quality than those by existing modified median filtering method.

  • In order to control a LTI(Linear Time Invariant) system subjected to system noise and measurement noise, first of all, it is necessary to estimate the state of system with reliability. Kalman filtering technique has been widely used to estimate the state of the stochastic LTI system with stationary noise characteristics because of its estimation ability versus algorithm simplicity. However, it often fails to estimate the state of the LTI system of which system parameter uncertainty exists partly and/or input uncertainty exists. In this paper, a new estimation technique based on Kalman filter is suggested for stochastic LTI system under parameter uncertainty and/or input uncertainty. A fuzzy estimation algorithm against uncertainties is introduced so as to compensate the state estimate filtered by Kalman filter. In order to verify the state estimation performance of the suggested technique, several simulations are accomplished.

  • In this paper, we propose a residual echo and noise reduction scheme for hands-free telephony applications. The proposed algorithm uses a noise robust modified AP algorithm which estimate well echo path in noisy and whitens residual echo signal using linear prediction at non double-talk duration. It is confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance from acoustic interference cancellation (AIC) viewpoint.

  • Filtered-x LMS algorithm maybe the most popular control algorithm used in DSP implementations of active noise and vibration control system. The algorithm converges on a timescale comparable to the response time of the system to be controlled, and is found to be very robust. If the pure tone reference signal is synchronously sampled, it is found that the behavior of the adaptive system can be completely described by a matrix of linear, time invariant, transfer functions. This is used to explain the behavior observed in simulations of a simplified single input, single output adaptive system, which retains many of the properties of the multichannel algorithm.

  • The paper deals with the Kalman stochastic filtering problem for linear continuous-time systems with both instantaneous and time-delayed measurements. Different from the standard linear system, the system state is corrupted by multiplicative white noise, and the instantaneous measurement and the delayed measurement are also corrupted by multiplicative white noise. A new approach to the problem is presented by using projection formulation and reorganized innovation analysis. More importantly, the proposed approach in the paper can be applied to solve many complicated problems such as stochastic $H_{\infty}$ estimation, $H_{\infty}$ control stochastic system with preview and so on.

  • In this paper we deal with a design of the integral sliding mode controller to suppress the disturbance force acting on the suspension system of the magnetically levitated train system. One of the important factors that cause the disturbance force acting on the suspension system comes from the low propulsion speed of linear induction motor. In this paper integral sliding mode controller is employed to reject the disturbance force produced by the propulsion system of the linear induction motor. In order to show the effectiveness of the designed controller a dynamic simulation is utilized and the sliding mode controller without integral compensator is compared with the proposed integral sliding mode controller to suppress the disturbance force.
