Semantic interpretation of image is incomplete without some mechanism for understanding semantic content that is not directly visible. For this reason, human assisted content-annotation through natural language is an attachment of textual description to image. However, keyword-based retrieval is in the level of syntactic pattern matching. In other words, dissimilarity computation among terms is usually done by using string matching not concept matching. In this paper, we propose a method for computerized semantic similarity calculation In WordNet space. We consider the edge, depth, link type and density as well as existence of common ancestors. Also, we have introduced method that applied similarity measurement on semantic image retrieval. To combine wi#h the low level features, we use the spatial color distribution model. When tested on a image set of Microsoft's 'Design Gallery Line', proposed method outperforms other approach.

In this study, image analysis and surface roughness measurements using an optical microscope are presented as a method to quantitatively evaluate the results of screen printing. Using this method, the squeegee speed, which is the printing process condition, and the printability of the electrode according to the screen mesh were evaluated. Increasing the squeegee speed in the printing process acts as a process element that increases the line width precision of the printed electrode and lowers the surface roughness of the printed surface. Furthermore, the edge roughness, which indicates the clarity of printing, was not significantly affected by the speed of the squeegee during printing. The print thickness increases in proportion to the squeegee speed, but is largely dependent on the screen thickness.

In this paper, we design and fabricate a disk sector antenna fed by CPW fur UWB communications. Also, we insert a rectangular slit on the arc-edge of the disk sector antenna. Then, the antenna has the directivity of E-면. In order to design the antenna, the input impedance is matched with the feed line of $50{\Omega}$ as varying the physical antenna parameters, which are the radius, the flare angle of disk sector, the length of ground, and the length of ground comer near by feed tine. Dimension of the antenna designed for UWB communication is $72mm{\times}26mm$ and bandwidth through computer simulation is $3{\sim}13GHz$. From the measured results, the bandwidth is $1.98{\sim}11GHz$. Return loss and gain of the fabricated antenna are -50.38dB, 1.34dBi at 3.5GHz, -12.27dB, 3.35dBi at 5.5GHz, -23.2dB, 3.8dBi at 8GHz and -16.17dB, 5.2dBi at 10GHz, respectively.

The present work investigates the behavior of the embankment models resting on soft soil reinforced with ordinary and stone columns encased with geogrid. Model tests were performed with different spacing distances between stone columns and two lengths to diameter ratios (L/d) of the stone columns, in addition to different embankment heights. A total number of 42 model tests were carried out on a soil with undrianed shear strength $${\sim_\sim}10kPa$$. The models consist of stone columns embankment at s/d equal to 2.5, 3 and 4 with L/d ratio equal 5 and 8. Three embankment heights; 200 mm, 250 mm and 300 mm were tested for both tests of ordinary (OSC) and geogrid encased stone columns (ESC). Three earth pressure cells were used to measure directly the vertical effective stress on column at the top of the middle stone column under the center line of embankment and on the edge stone column for all models while the third cell was placed at the base of embankment between two columns to measure the vertical effective stress in soft soil directly. The performance of stone columns embankments relies upon the ability of the granular embankment material to arch over the 'gaps' between the stone columns spacing. The results showed that the ratio of the embankment height to the clear spacing between columns (h/s-d) is a key parameter. It is found that (h/s-d)<1.2 and 1.4 for OSC and ESC, respectively; (h is the embankment height, s is the spacing between columns and d is the diameter of stone columns), no effect of arching is pronounced, the settlement at the surface of the embankment is very large, and the stress acting on the subsoil is virtually unmodified from the nominal overburden stress. When $(h/s-d){\geq}2.2$ for OSC and ESC respectively, full arching will occur and minimum stress on subsoil between stone columns will act, so the range of critical embankment height will be 1.2 (h/sd) to 2.2 (h/s-d) for both OSC and ESC models.
The purpose of this study was not only to develop models for teaching and learning that can guide teachers to utilize FASTEL effectively, but also to investigate the actual effectiveness of the models developed. According to a survey on satisfaction with FASTEL in rural public schools, it is not utilized as anticipated in classroom instruction despite students' high satisfaction with it and teachers' positive perceptions on its effectiveness in teaching and learning. Along this line, this study categorized rural public schools into two types and proposed a model for each type to facilitate FASTEL utilization: one for schools equipped with both FASTEL and the cutting-edge technologies like interactive whiteboard, tablet, and Wi-Fi; the other for schools equipped with FASTEL only. Eventually, the models for teaching and learning developed in this study are expected to revitalize FASTEL by providing the foundation of utilizing FASTEL in general public schools as well as rural public schools.
In this paper, we will show that a control search methodology is a alternative method of a sequential search which is difficult in finding books for arrangement at library or a bookstore when books are out of place. To solve the problem of the sequential search, we apply a edge operator and the Hough Transform to boundary of a taken photograph image book. We generate histogram by a projected image from boundary range of selected books and select title areas from this and possible areas which are a character number of title, authors, a publishing company and an array sequence. Finally, we can select the final possible area of a book location by a curve fitting and a regression line extraction, and show utility through experiment.
In this paper, a new method for finger vein recognition is proposed. Researchers are recently interested in the finger vein recognition since it is a good way to avoid the forgery in finger prints recognition and the inconveniences in obtaining images of the iris for iris recognition. The vein images are processed to obtain the line shaped vein images through the local histogram equalization and a thinning process. This thinned vein images are processed for matching, using a new matching algorithm, named HS(HeeSung) matching algorithm. This algorithm yields an excellent recognition rate when it is applied to the curve-linear images processed through a thinning or an edge detection. In our experiment with the finger vein images, the recognition rate has reached up to 99.20% using this algorithm applied to 650finger vein images(130person ${\times}$ 5images each). It takes only about 60 milliseconds to match one pair of images.

We studied chemical reactio of Eu metal on the in situ cleaved CdTe(110) surface by pphotoemission sppectroscoppy using synchrotron radiation. The chamber was maintained with base ppressure $\leq$2${\times}$10-10 mb during the expperiment. The expperiment was carried out in pphoton Factory in Jappan. Core level pphotoemission sppectroscoppy was carried out with Al K${\alpha}$ Line. The CdTe simiconductor was determined to be pp-typpe with low dopping concentration from Hall measurement. We found that there are two reacted pphases of Te with Eu (related to divalent Eu and trivalent Eu, resppectively) from least square fitting of Te 4d sppectra, but three is no indication of Cd reaction. Trivalent Eu exists after roughly one monolayer depposition (600 sec. depposition time is considered as one monolayer), which is also observed at Eu 3d core level sppectra. Overlayer Eu is metallized after roughly 2 monolayers depposition, as can be deduced from the fact that metallic edge near Fermi level begins to appear. The intensity of core-level of Te decreases expponentially at the initial stage (near one monolayer) and after one monolayer depposition it decreases more slowly due to Te out-diffusion. We categorized the growth mode of Eu on CdTe as S-K growth mode (cluster formation after one monolayer deppisition) from the relative intensity pplot of Te 4d normalized to the cleaved surface. At cleaved surface band bending is already established due to surface defects. At first 100 sec. depposition time the shift toward lower binding side by 0.6 eV is found at all core level sppectra of all elements in semiconductor. This shift is considered as the re-adjustment of surface Fermi level to the pposition induced by Eu metal (0.2 eV above the valence band maximum).
Korean export of fashion products to the U.S. has fallen off sharply after 2001. Now, Korean fashion companies have to develop higher value-added business. In the U.S., Korean-American fashion companies are taking a primary role in up-stream of the fashion industry. To cut the edge over the U.S. fashion companies, one of the solutions could be to build the business relationship with Korean fashion companies which reflect the recent trend rapidly and have high quality production. On this study, we investigated the marketing strategies of Korean-American fashion companies to seek to start business with Korean fashion companies and make suggestions for Korean fashion companies who want to enter into the U.S. market effectively. To analyze current situation of Korean export to the U.S. and the U.S. fashion industry, we considered various kinds of statistic data, publications and studies. And we performed in-depth interviews with 9 Korean-American fashion companies in LA from $9^{th}$ to $21^{st}$ of July. The results are as follows. first, Korean fashion companies should aim for high-end market with the products of high quality and design. Second, there should be professional agents who manage Korean small-medium fashion companies and connect them with Korean-American fashion companies. Third, Korean fashion companies who want to enter into the retail market of the U.S. have to decide the target market clearly and plan strategic and differentiated merchandising. Fourth, Korean fashion companies can specialize in product developing service like proposing a product or a merchandising line as a package including designs, fabric swatches, trims, production information, etc.

Steel bridges, which have been damaged by load and corrosion, need repair or strengthening. In general, before the repair welding procedure, cutting procedure carry out. Therefore, the investigating of the behavior of stress generated by cutting is so important for safety of structure. Residual stress produced by gas cutting was analyzed using 2D and 3D thermal elasto plastic FEM. According to the results, the magnitude of temperature was analyzed by 2D FEM is smaller than that was analyzed using the 3D FEM program at the start and end edge of flange. And the magnitude and distribution of residual stress of perpendicular to the cutting line was analyzed by the 2D FEM program was similar to that was analyzed by the 3D FEM program. Therefore, it is possible to predict of cutting stress by 2D and 3D FEM.
