간의 파골세포모양 거대세포 종양의 세침흡인 세포학적 소견 (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology of Osteoclast-like Giant Cell Tumor of the Liver)

  • Osteoclast-like giant cell tumor of the liver is an extremely rare malignancy with poor prognosis. To our knowledge, 5 cases have been reported in English literatures, but there was no report about fine needle aspiration cytologic(FNAC) features. We experienced a case of osteoclast-like giant cell tumor of the liver obtained by computed tomography(CT)-guided FNAC and needle biopsy. The cytologic findings mimicked slant cell tumor of the bone. A large hepatic mass of the left lobe with abdominal wall invasion was found by CT in a 46- year-old female complaining of epigastric pain. The FNAC showed moderately cellular smears consisting of osteoclast-like giant cells and mononuclear cells, which were individually scattered or intermingled in clusters. The osteoclast-like giant cells had abundant cytoplasms and multiple small round nuclei with fine chromatin and distinct nucleoli. The mononuclear cells had moderate amount of cytoplasm and relatively bland-looking oval nuclei with single small nucleoli. All of the cytologic features recapitulated the histologic findings of bland-looking osteoclast-like multinucleated giant cells evenly dispersed throughout the background of mononuclear cell. The immunohistochemical study showed positive reaction for CD68 and vimentin, but negative for cytokeratin in both osteoclast-like slant cells and mononuclear cells.

수치모의를 통한 유사제트-파랑의 상호작용 해석 (Analysis of Interaction of Jet-like Current and Wave using Numerical Simulation)

  • The effect of wave and current interactions on jet-like current flowing against waves was investigated based on numerical simulations. The numerical simulations are conducted by a combined model system of REF/DIF(a wave model) plus SHORECIRC(a current model) and a Boussinesq equation model, FUNWAVE. In the simulations, regular and irregular waves refracted due to the jet-like opposing current were focused along the core region of current, and the jet-like current was earlier spreaded when the waves had larger wave heights. The numerical results show that the rapid change of wave height distribution in transverse direction near current inlet plays a significant role to spread the jet-like current. In other words, the gradients of radiation stress forcing in transverse direction have a more significant effect on the jet-like current than its relatively small gradients forcing in flowing direction, which tend to accelerate the current, do. In conclusion, it is indispensible to take into account the interaction effect of wave transformation and current characteristics when waves meet the opposing jet-like current such as river mouth.

A primo vessel-like structure in a dog with inflammatory pseudotumor

  • Inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) is a term defining a mass characterized microscopically by a proliferation of bland mesenchymal spindle cells infiltrated by diffuse mixed inflammatory cells with a predominance of plasma cells and lymphocytes. Here, we show the primo vessel-like structure of the primo-vascular system (PVS) in a dog with IPT. A 6-years old male Mongrel dog was diagnosed with an abnormal mass (diameter 5.5 cm, weight 22 g) near left preputial area. The dog was submitted to the surgical detectomy of the mass. During the surgical operation, we observed primo vessel-like material. After fixations, the masses appeared macroscopically as lipoid-like, firm, white to grey masses, measuring $5{\times}8cm$. Histologically, cellular infiltration into the muscular layers was frequently seen. The mesenchymal proliferation remained the main component of the mass and was composed of myofibroblastic-like spindle cells characterized by globular, irregular nuclei containing open chromatin and a prominent nucleolus. On the basis of the histopathologic lesions, the subcutaneous mass was diagnosed as IPT. Also, we detected a primo vessel-like structures in some areas of the IPT tissues. These were observed as novel thread-like structures and bundle of tubular structures. To our knowledge, this report is the first case of primo vessel-like structure in a dog with IPT.

Recognizing F5-like stego images from multi-class JPEG stego images

  • To recognize F5-like (such as F5 and nsF5) steganographic algorithm from multi-class stego images, a recognition algorithm based on the identifiable statistical feature (IDSF) of F5-like steganography is proposed in this paper. First, this paper analyzes the special modification ways of F5-like steganography to image data, as well as the special changes of statistical properties of image data caused by the modifications. And then, by constructing appropriate feature extraction sources, the IDSF of F5-like steganography distinguished from others is extracted. Lastly, based on the extracted IDSFs and combined with the training of SVM (Support Vector Machine) classifier, a recognition algorithm is presented to recognize F5-like stego images from images set consisting of a large number of multi-class stego images. A series of experimental results based on the detection of five types of typical JPEG steganography (namely F5, nsF5, JSteg, Steghide and Outguess) indicate that, the proposed algorithm can distinguish F5-like stego images reliably from multi-class stego images generated by the steganography mentioned above. Furthermore, even if the types of some detected stego images are unknown, the proposed algorithm can still recognize F5-like stego images correctly with high accuracy.

치주낭 탐침깊이와 치은연하치태내 Trypsin-like activity와의 관계 (RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROBING POCKET DEPTH AND TRYPSIN-LIKE ACTIVITY IN SUBGINGIVAL PLAQUE)

  • In order to determine the relationship between probing pocket depth and trypsin-like activity in subgingival plaque, probing pocket depth and loss of attachment were measured by Michigan-O probe on mandibular incisors of 30 patients with adult periodontitis. And the trypsin-like activity of Treponema denticola, Porphyromonas gingivalis, and Bacteroides forsythus was evaluated by the hydrolysis of N-Benzoyl-DL-Arginine-2-Naphthyla-mide (BANA) using PerioScan reagent cards(Oral-B Laboratories, Redwood City, CA). The obtained data were statistically analyzed by Microstat program. The results were as follows. 1. The number of teeth showing negative trypsin-like activity was more in shallow periodontal pocket groups, but the number of teeth showing positive trypsin-like activity was more in deep periodontal pocket groups. 2. There was a significant positive correlation between probing pocket depth and trypsin-like activity in subgingival plaque(y=0.413X - 0.955, r = 0.7024, p<0.001). 3. There was no consistent relationship between loss of attachment and trypsin-like activity in subgingival plaque(p>0.01).

  • Volatile compounds in salt fermented anchovy on the market were analyzed by vacuum simulta neous distillation solvent extraction/gas chromatography/mass spectrometry/olfactometry(V SDE/ GC/MS/O) and aroma extract dilution anlaysis(AEDA). Predominant odorants(Log3FD$\geq$8) in sample were ethyl methylbutanoate(candy like/sweet) and 2 ethyl 3,5 dimethylpyrazine(nutty/baked potato like). Besides these compounds, 6 odorants such as ethyl 3 methylbutanoate(sweet/floral/ candy like), 3 methylbutanal(dark chocolate like), (Z) 4 heptenal(rancid/fish like), (methylthio) propanal(soy sauce /baked potato like), (E,Z) 2,6 nonadienal(melon /cucumber like) and (E,E) 2,4 decadienal(fatty/cooked soybean like) were potent in odor value of salt fermented anchovy. Seven amino acids having high taste value in sample were glutamic acid, aspartic acid(sour and umami taste), lysine, alanine(sweet), histidine, valine, and methionine(bitter).

연산자 LIKE의 새로운 한글 탐색 패턴 (A New Korean Search Pattern of the Operator LIKE)

  • 데이타베이스 언어인 SQL의 연산자 LIKE는 문자열을 탐색하기 위한 연산자로서 문자열 양식을 설정함으로써 그에 부합하는 칼럼값들을 식별할 수 있게 한다. 표음문자인 한글의 각 음절은 초성과 중성으로 구성되거나 초성, 중성, 그리고 종성으로 구성된다. 본 논문은 연산자 LIKE의 한글 음절의 탐색 양식으로서 한글 음절로 표현되는 기존 양식에 추가하여 한글의 초성과 중성에 기반한 새로운 양식을 제안한다. 제안하는 한글 탐색 양식은 특정 초성을 가지는 한글 음절들, 특정 중성을 가지는 한글 음절들, 또는 특정 초성과 중성을 가지는 한글 음절들을 탐색할 수 있게 한다. 제안하는 한글 탐색 양식을 SQL의 기존 연산자들로 표현하는 것은 실질적으로 많은 불편을 수반하며 DBMS의 문자 집합에 따라 응용 프로그램의 호환성 문제를 초래할 수 있다. 본 논문은 제안하는 한글 탐색 양식을 고려한 연산자 LIKE의 수행 알고리즘을 한글과 한자에 대한 정보 교환용 부호계의 국가 표준인 KS X 1001로 표현된 문자들을 기반으로 제시한다.

둥근성게(Strongylocentrotus nudus)의 Smad3와 Estrogen Receptor-related $Receptor\;{\beta}$ like 1 유전자 발현 (Gene Expression of Smad3 and Estrogen Receptor-related $Receptor\;{\beta}$ like 1 in Sea Urchin, Strongylocentrotus nudus)

  • Transforming growth $factor-{\beta}(TGF-{\beta})$ 신호의 매개자 역할을 하는 Smad 계열 단백질은 발생과정에 중요한 역할을 한다고 알려져 있다. Estrogen receptor(ER)와 구조적으로 유사한 estrogen receptor-related receptor(ERR)은 포유동물에서 후기 배발생기에 외배엽 형성과 관련이 되어 있는 고아핵수용체이다. 본 연구에서는 해양무척추동물의 초기발생과정과 계절번식기 동안에 Smad3와 ERR의 유전자 발현이 발생과정과 성숙에 어떠한 연관성을 갖고 있는지 알아보기 위하여, 동해안 연안에 주로 서식하는 극피동물문 둥근성게과 둥근성게(Strongylocentrotus nudus)를 재료로 하여 계절별 및 배발생 과정중에 Smad3와 $ERR{\beta}$ like 1의 mRNA 농도를 real-time PCR 방법으로 조사하였다. Smad3 mRNA는 샘플링을 시작한 2004년 2월의 생식소와 비교하면 4월부터 그 농도가 증가하기 시작하여 6월까지 증가하였으며, 산란기인 8월에 감소하였다가 10월부터 12월까지 높은 수준을 유지하였다. $ERR{\beta}$ like 1 mRNA는 6월까지 낮은 수준이었으나, 산란기인 8월에 급증한 후 다시 감소하였다. 수정란부터 초기 유생기까지 발생과정을 분석한 결과, Smad3 mRNA는 8세포기 및 16세포기에 높은 발현이 관측되었다. 한편, $ERR{\beta}$ like 1 mRNA는 포배기, 낭배기, 초기 유생기에 현저하게 높은 발현패턴을 보였다. 이상의 결과로부터 둥근성게의 산란기 및 발생배의 발생후기에 $ERR{\beta}$ like 1이 중요한 역할을 담당할 것으로 추정되며, 초기 난할시기에는 Smad3의 관련성이 시사되었다.

최근 3년 부산지역에서 분리한 인플루엔자바이러스의 특성 및 발생 양상 (Characterization and Outbreak Pattern of Isolated Influenzavirus in Busan, 2000-2002 Years.)

  • 2000-2002년 사이 최근 3년간 부산지역 급성 호흡기 감염증 환자를 대상으로 인플루엔자 바이러스를 분리하여 그 특성을 조사하였다. 2000년도에 분리된 바이러스는 총 39주의 인플루엔자 바이러스이었으며, A형이 23주 그리고 B형이 16주이었다. 분리된 인플루엔자 바이러스의 항원적 특성을 관찰한 결과 A/Sydney/05/97(H3N2)-like, A/Beijing/ 262/95(H1N1)-like, 및 B/Harbin/07/94-like임을 알수 있었다. 2001년도에는 총 56주의 인플루엔자바이러스가 분리되었다. 항원적 특성을 분석한 결과 A/Panama/2007/99(H3N2)-like 및 A/Newcaledonia/20/99(H1N1)-like임을 알수 있었고, 2002년도에는 총 114주가 분리되었으며, 이 중 A/Panama/2007/99(H3N2) 유사주가 61주이고, A/Newcaledonia/20/99(H1N1) 유사주가 22주이었다. 그리고 B/Beijing/243/97, B/HonKong/22/2001, B/Sichuam/379/00 유사주가 31주 분리되었다. 분리된 바이러스의 성별 발생분포는 2000년에 남성환자 13명(33.33%), 여성환자 If면(66.67%), 2001년에 남성환자 23명(41.07%), 여성환자 33명(58.93%)이 발생하여 2000년과 2001년 모두 여성환자의 발생율이 비교적 높게 나타났다. 2002년도에는 남성환자 57명(50%), 여성환자 57명(50%)으로 남녀 발생분포가 같았다. 연령별 발생분포는 2000년에는 0-10세 사이에서 48.84%로 대부분을 차지하였으나, 2001년에는 11-20세 사이에서 33.93%로, 비교적 높은 발생율을 나타내었으며, 그 외 연령별로는 비슷한 발생율을 나타내었고, 2002년도에는 10세이하 환자가 72명으로 63.16%를 차지하였다. 월별 발생분포는 2000년에는 1월에 한차례 높았다가 다시 4월에 다소 높은 발병율을 나타내었으며, 6월까지 낮은 비율이지만 다양한 바이러스가 출현하였다. 반면 2001년에는 2월과 3월에 집중적으로 발생하였으며 H3N2가 강력한 발병율은 나타내면서 주로 이른봄에 발생하였고, 2002년도에는 3월과 11월에 두 번이나 높은 발생율을 나타내었다. 이상의 결과는 급성호흡기증후군이 세계적으로 유행하고 있는 현 시점에서 인플루엔자 백신 개발 및 유행예측을 위한 역학자료로 유용하게 이용될 것으로 사료된다.

Static and Dynamic Instability Characteristics of Thin Plate like Beam with Internal Flaw Subjected to In-plane Harmonic Load

  • This paper deals with the study of buckling, vibration, and parametric instability characteristics in a damaged cross-ply and angle-ply laminated plate like beam under in-plane harmonic loading, using the finite element approach. Damage is modelled using an anisotropic damage formulation, based on the concept of reduction in stiffness. The effect of damage on free vibration and buckling characteristics of a thin plate like beam has been studied. It has been observed that damage shows a strong orthogonality and in general deteriorates the static and dynamic characteristics. For the harmonic type of loading, analysis was carried out on a thin plate like beam by solving the governing differential equation which is of Mathieu-Hill type, using the method of multiple scales (MMS). The effects of damage and its location on dynamic stability characteristics have been presented. The results indicate that, compared to the undamaged plate like beam, heavily damaged beams show steeper deviations in simple and combination resonance characteristics.
