  • Photoelectric UBV light curves of AR lacertae made in one season during 1981-82 are presented. Although the shape of the light curves in the outside eclipses shows a strong distortion, the scatter of observations as well as phase coverage are better than those previously available. Fourier coefficients are derived from the V-light curve and the observed curve successfully rectified to the Russell model. Light curve solutions are computed and the geometrical and physical parameters of AR Lac are derived as $a_s$=0.182, $a_g$=0.341, j=$86^{circ}$3, $L_s$=0.372, $L_g$=0.628, k=0.53, $X_s$=0.85, $X_g$=0.4.

  • We have analyzed collected photoelectric light curves for light variations of SW Lac. The method of Fourier analysis was adopted to quantify the light variation from season to season. We found the linear relation between the Fourier coefficient, B1 and the magnitude difference between two maxima. The total light of the system has been decreased as much as 0m.04 during approxiamately 20 years time interval. Photoelectric parameters including spot parameters for all light curves were obtained by the method of the Wilson and Devinney differential correction in order to secure the variations of parameters from season to season. SW Lac, not like RS CVn type stars, required to adjust all parameters as well as spot parameters for a reasonable fit to the observations of each epoch. A surface temperature of cooler star is one of the most sensitive parameters to affect a shape of light curve of SW Lac. We conclude that the shape of light curve of SW Lac varies even during one season as well as season to season. The light curve is mainly caused by inhomogeneous surface temperature due to strong chromospheric activity of the system.

  • A total of 1088 observations (272 in B, 272 in V, 272 in R, and 272 in I) were made from January to February in 1995 at Chungbuk National University observatory(CbNUO). We constructed BVRI light curves with our data. The photometric solution of these light curves was obtained by means of the Wilson-Devinney method. Our result was compared with those by previous investigators.

  • We have analyzed times of minima for of 6 binary systems. Three binary systems show period decrease at rate $3.19{\times}10-5$ yr -1 for SV Cen, $1.35{\times}10-7$ yr -1 for RT Scl and $1.14{\times}10-7$ yr -1 for AD Phe. Two systems show period increase $5.696{\times}10-8$ yr -1 for SX Aur and $6.93{\times}10-8$ yr -1 for GO Cyg. One system shows cyclic period variation. We estimated the mass transfer rate for 5 binary systems. Four systems show asymmetric light curves. Two asymmetric light curves (SV Cen and RT Scl) are due to hot spot caused by mass transfer. And two asymmetric light curves (AD Phe and TY Boo) are due to cool spot caused by magnetic activities on the cooler component. We also obtain absolute dimensions from photometric solution and spectroscopic solution by analyzing their light curves and radial velocity curves, which are collected from literatures, using 2007 version Wilson and Deviney computer code.

  • We have analyzed times of minima for six eclipsing binary systems which show asymmetric light curves. We found that five binary systems show period decrease and one system shows cyclic period variation. Three asymmetric light curves (SV Cen, RT Scl and VW Boo) are due to hot spot caused by mass transfer. Other three asymmetric light curves (AD Phe,, EZ Hya and TY Boo) are due to cool spot on the cooler component caused by magnetic activities. We also obtain absolute dimensions from photometric solution and spectroscopic solution by analyzing their light curves and radial velocity curves, collected from literatures, using 2007 version Wilson and Devinney computer code.

  • In order to apply the photocatalytic decomposition of aromatic VOCs, adsorbent prepared from MSWI fly ash was coated by $TiO_2$ solution to endow with photo-catalytic function. The effects of coating number, existence of light source and the type of $TiO_2$ solution used for coating were examined. Adsorbent coated with amorphous $TiO_2$ solution showed higher adsorptivity than adsorbent coated with crystal $TiO_2$ solution. Without light source, breakthrough curve of photo -catalyst absorbent for VOCs removal was similar to that of absorbent made from MSWI fly ash. On the other hand, breakthrough time was enlarged with light source and total removal efficiency of benzene and toluene was also increased. It can be explained as photo-decomposition effect of $TiO_2$ photo-catalyst. Total removal efficiency of benzene and toluene was increased according to the increase of coating number with light source. It was due to the effect of adsorption and photo reaction of photo-catalytic adsorbent. But total removal efficiency of benzene was lower than that of toluene. Because benzene was removed more effectively than toluene by adsorption, but photo - decomposition effect oi toluene was more high than benzene.

  • The UBV observations of the close binary system CW Cephei were made from August 198:3 to December 1984 during 25 nights using the 61cm Boller and Chivens reflector at the Sobaeksan Astronomy Observatory. The new UBV light curves were analyzed with the recent Wilson-Devinney binary model. Our photometric solution for CW Cep were well consistent with those of Clausen &. Gimenez (1991). Using our photometric solution and Popper & Hill (1991) spectroscopic one, each absolute masses and radii of components for CW Cep were derived as 13.63 M$\bigodot$ and 5.83 R$\bigodot$ for the primary, and 12.18 M$\bigodot$ and 5.14 R$\bigodot$ for the secondary, respectively.

  • The modeling and parameter estimation of a damped one-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system is examined. This paper presents a method for estimating the system parameters (damping coefficients and natural frequency) from measured free-vibration motion of a system that is modeled to include both subcritical viscous damping and kinetic Coulomb friction. The method applies a commercially available least-squares curve-fitting software function to fit the known solution of the equations of motion to the measured response. The method was tested through numerical simulation, and it was applied to experimental data collected from a laboratory mass-spring apparatus. The mass of this apparatus translates on linear bearings, which are the primary source of light inherent damping. Results indicate that the curve-fitting method is effective and accurate for both perfect and noisy measurements from a lightly damped mass-spring system.
