The purpose of this study was to investigate the curing effect of visible light through tooth substance, 0.5mm, 1.0mm thickness of enamel and dentin were prepared. Experimental specimen were made by Bisfil M & Silux packing into cylindrical brass mold 6.0mm in diameter, 2.0mm and 3.0mm, in height. All specimen were irradiated by visible light (Grip type) model No. SDL-50 Shofu Co.) for 30 seconds through tooth substance. Experimental groups were classified into enamel group (group 1) and dentin group (group 2) according to the thickness of tooth materials and then were divided into 2 subgroups (0.5mm group and 1.0mm group). In experimental groups, visible light irradiated to the specimen through either 0.5mm in thick or 1.0mm in think of tooth material. In Control group specimen were prepared by direct irradiation on the specimen surface of visible light without through tooth substance. The hardness was measured with a Barcol hardness tester (Barber-Colman Co. U.S.A.) for each prepared specimen. The results were as follows: 1. In control group, there were higher hardness values than those of in experimental group. 2. In experimental groups, 0.5mm groups had higher hardness values than 1.0mm groups did. 3. The hardness value at top surface of the specimen were higher than the hardness of bottom surface in each group. 4. Bisfil M had higher hardness values than Silux. 5. In all specimen of 3.0mm height polymerization effect was not occurred at bottom surface except Bisfil M in control group.

Microstereolithography has evolved from the stereolithography technique, and is also based on a light-induced layer-stacking manufacturing. Integral microstereolithography is proposed for building a 3D microstructure rapidly, which allows the manufacture of a complete layer by one irradiation only. In this study, we developed the integral microstereolithography apparatus based on the use of $DMD^{TM}$ as dynamic pattern generator. It is composed of Xenon-Mercury lamp, optical devices, pattern generator, precision stage, controllers and the control program. Also, we estimated curing characteristics in photopolymer. The relationship between the viscosity of diluent-oligomer solutions and curing width, irradiation time and curing property has been studied.
Conventional pad- dry-cure(thermo-fixation) process usually produces functional performance on both sides of a fabric. UV curing technique was applied to impart water- and oil-repellent finish effective only on the face of a PET knitted fabric. The preferential one-side coating, by virtue of the limited penetration of UV light, was achieved by W curing after padding of a fluorocarbon agent without special coating or printing equipments. The difference in the functional property of face and back sides was examined by measuring water and oil repellency at each side of the treated fabric. The influence of pre/post-irradiation dose and agent concentration on the performance of the finished fabrics were investigated. While increase in both resin concentration and post-irradiation did not have significant effect on the finish, UV pre-irradiation of PET fabrics caused remarkable influence presumably due to appropriate surface modification of PET fabrics required for facile wetting of the resin. The dimensional stability and color change of the UV cured fabrics measured by FAST and reflectance spectrophotometry showed significantly decreased color difference and increased percent extension compared with the samples pre-irradiated without agent application.

Concrete placed under hot weather condition suffers from larger slump loss, rapid moisture evaporation due to high air temperature. Proper measures for material, transportation and curing should be taken to prevent the quality deterioration of the concrete under hot weather condition. In Korea, Although the period of hot weather concrete in Korea occupies only 2 months, there are a lot of quality problems including plastic, drying shrinkage and cold joint. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to investigate and compare the temperature history and crack occurrence of the concrete, which was placed in the actual apartment house construction field under hot weather condition, in response to the application of surface covered curing blankets including PE film, single layer clear bubble sheet, white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet. Test results indicated that the application of white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet showed most favorable results in terms of reduction in temperature rise and crack occurrence as well as easiness in handling. But, due to light reflection by aluminum metalized bubble sheet, it is believed that white colored bubble sheet is preferable.

The purpose of this study was to develop a practical caries activity test by fluorescence using laser, plasma light and halogen light. The subjects of study were 45 children of 7-8 years old Argon laser, plasma light and halogen light were irradiated to buccal or labial surface of all teeth. Fluorescence of initial carious lesion from teeth was observed through barrier filter and the number of teeth showing lesion was counted. Visual examination for the dDfFtT, mutans streptococci screening test and Lactobacilli colony counting were also done. Data analysis was accomplished by Axelsson's method. The result from the present study can be summarized as follows. 1. Laser, plasma light and halogen light could detect the initial carious lesions better than visual examination(p<0.05). 2. There was positive correlation between laser(r=0.42), plasma light(r=0.41), halogen light(r=0.39) and dBfFtT rate(p<0.01). 3. The specificity sensitivity and predictive value was showed highest value in laser, but was showed favorable value in plasma light and halogen light. In regard to above results, laser, plasma light and halogen light all considered to be reliable method for determining individual caries activity. And they were also considered to be practical method because it would be simple, inexpensive, and time saving method.
This study was performed to compare the shear bond strength of orthodontic adhesive to amalgam according to different light sources (halogen-based light and light emitting diode (LED)) and amalgam surface treatments. Ninety extracted human premolars were randomly divided into 6 groups (4 experimental and 2 control groups) of 15 by light sources and surface treatments. Orthodontic brackets were bonded and shear bond strength was measured with an Instron universal testing machine. The findings were as follows: The bond strength of adhesive to amalgam surface was 3-5.5 MPa which was lower than that of acid-etched enamel (19 MPa) control. In the sandblasted amalgam surface, the shear bond strength of the halogen light group was higher than that of the LED group (p < 0.05) but. in the non-treated amalgam surface. there was no significant difference in the shear bond strength according to the light sources (p> 0.05). Within the same light source. sandblasting had no significant effect on the shear bond strength of the adhesive bonded to amalgam surface (p > 0.05). There was no significant difference in shear bond strength according to the light sources in acid-etched enamel control groups. This results suggest that there can be a limit in using light curing adhesives when brackets are bonded to an amalgam surface. Additional clinical studies are necessary before routine use of halogen light and LED light curing units can be recommended in bonding brackets to an amalgam surface.

The purpose of present study was to determine whether different kinds of curing lights can alter microtensile bond strength(MTBS) of class I cavity pulpal and axial wall specimens in primary molar. Thirty clean mandibular 2nd primary molar's occlusal enamel were removed and class I cavity, size of $2{\times}4{\times}2mm$ was prepared. Dentin bonding agent was applied according to manufacturer's manual. Each group was cured with Halogen Curing Unit, Plasma Curing Unit and LED Curing Unit. Composite resin was bulk filled and photo cured with same curing unit. MTBS specimens which size is $0.7{\times}0.7{\times}4mm$ were prepared with low speed saw. Specimens were coded by their curing lights and wall positions (Halogen - Axial wall group, Halogen - Pulpal wall group, Plasma - Axial wall group, Plasma - Pulpal wall group, LED - Axial wall group, LED - Pulpal walt group). MTBS were tested at 1 mm/min cross Head speed by Universal Testing Machine. Fractured surface and bonding surface was observed with SEM. T-test between axial and pulpal specimens in each curing lights, one-way ANOVA among different curing light specimens in each wall positions were done. Weibull distribution analysis was done. The results were as follows : Mean MTBS of pulpal wall specimens were significantly greater than that of axial wall specimens at each curing units(p<.05). There was no significant difference in the MTBS among three curing units at axial wall and pulpal wall. In Weibull distribution, pulpal wall specimens were more homogeneous than axial wall specimens.
In this study we measured the amount of light energy that was projected through the tooth material and analyzed the degree of polymerization by measuring the surface hardness of composites. For polymerization, Optilux 501 (Demetron, USA) with two types of light guide was used: a 12 mm diameter light guide with 840 nW/$cm^2$ light intensity and a 7 mm diameter turbo light guide with 1100 nW/$cm^2$. Specimens were divided into three groups according to thickness of penetrating tooth (1 mm, 2 mm, 0 mm). Each group was further divided into four subgroups according to type of light guide and curing time (20 seconds, 40 seconds). Vickers' hardness was measured by using a microhardness tester. In 0 mm and 1 mm penetrating tooth group, which were polymerized by a turbo light guide for 40 seconds, showed the highest hardness values. The specimens from 2 mm penetrating tooth group, which were polymerized for 20 seconds, demonstrated the lowest hardness regardless of the types of light guides (p < 0.05). The results of this study suggest that, when projecting tooth material over a specified thickness, the increase of polymerization will be limited even if light intensity or curing time is increased.
Purpose of this research is estimating polymerization depth of different source of light. XL 3000 for halo-gen light, Apollo 95E for plasma arc light and Easy cure for LED light source were used in this study. Different shade (B1 & A3) resin composites (Esthet-X, Dentsply, U.S.A.) were used to measure depth of cure. 1, 2, and 3 mm thick samples were light cured for three seconds, six seconds or 10 seconds with Apollo 95E and they were light cured with XL-3000 and Easy cure for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, or 40 seconds. Vicker's hardness test carried out after store samples for 24 hours in distilled water. Results were as following. 1. Curing time increases from al1 source of lights, oui$.$ing depth increased(p<0.05). 2. Depth (that except 1mm group and 2mm group which lighten to halogen source of light) deepens in all groups, Vickers hardness decreased(p<0.05). 3. Vicker's hardness of A3 shade composite was lower in all depths more than B1 shade composites in group that do polymerization for 10 seconds and 20 seconds using halogen source of light(p<0.05), but group that do polymerization lot 40 seconds did not show difference(p>0.05). 4. Groups that do polymerization using Plasma arc and LED source of light did not show Vicker's hardness difference according to color at surface and 1mm depth(p>0.05), but showed difference according to color at 2mm and 3mm depth(p<0.05). The results showed that Apollo 95E need more polymerization times than manufacturer's recommendation (3 seconds), and Easy cure need polymerization time of XL-3000 at least.
