World wheat production is now under threat due to the wheat blast outbreak in Bangladesh in early March 2016. This is a new disease in this area, indicating the higher possibility of this pathogen spreading throughout the Asia, the world's largest wheat producing area. Occurrence of this disease caused ~3.5% reduction of the total wheat fields in Bangladesh. Its economic effect on the Bangladesh wheat market was little because wheat contributes to 3% of total cereal consumption, among which ~70% have been imported from other countries. However, as a long-term perspective, much greater losses will occur once this disease spreads to other major wheat producing areas of Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan due to the existing favorable condition for the blast pathogen. The wheat blast pathogen belongs to the Magnaporthe oryzae species complex causing blast disease on multiple hosts in the Poaceae family. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the Bangladesh outbreak strains and the Brazil outbreak strains were the same phylogenetic lineage, suggesting that they might be migrated from Brazil to Bangladesh during the seed import. To protect wheat production of Bangladesh and its neighbors, several measures including rigorous testing of seed health, use of chemicals, crop rotation, reinforcement of quarantine procedures, and increased field monitoring should be implemented. Development of blast resistant wheat varieties should be a long-term solution and combination of different methods with partial resistant lines may suppress this disease for some time.

Eugene O'Neill portrays Puritan values of the Mannon family inherited from their family past. Since Puritan values of the Mannons suppress the normal way of life and love, they retain only rigidity, without the charity which is the core element of the teaching of Christianity. With Puritan repression and its dissociation from the vital spring of life, the Puritan Mannons live in a world drained of life and in a world of hypocrisy between outer beauty and inner ugliness. Ironically, they think more of death itself, neglecting to feel the vitality of life. Working as a fate, Puritan values of the Mannon as 'Force Behind' in O'Neill's own term are the cause of suffering and destruction of the Mannons throughout the whole play. The mask-like house and faces are effectively used as a dramatic technique to express the distorted Puritan values.

Life Science or Home Economics has its own history of scholarship. In South Korea, the School of Home Economics was regarded as the best school of 'producing best brides' in the early stage of its academic history. Since the 1980s when South Korean society went through a speedy economic growth with development of culture and service industry, the school was transformed to educating highly professional career women in the field of industry which deals with everyday lives. As an applied science in nature, the school of Home Economics has had a heavy emphasis on engineering the familial and social life. It also has heavily depended on imported theories and statistical researches. In the crisis of familial and social disintergration, the role of School of Home Economics needs to be redefined. Reexamination of the premises of Home Economics and methodology is necessary. Decolonializaton of the scholarship in the changed condition of global capitalism is particularly urgent in the late modern era of reflexion.

김치는 살균공정 없이 유통되기 때문에 유통과정에서도 발효가 진행되는 특성을 가지고 있어 김치의 산도가 계속 증가하여 김치의 상품성이 저하되는 문제점을 안고 있다. 본 연구에서는 김치발효과정 중 과도한 산생성에 관여하는 균주선발과 더불어 이들 균주의 성장을 억제할 수 있는 항균활성을 지닌 균주를 김치로부터 선발하고자 하였다. 우선 김치과숙 관련 균주를 선발한 결과 Lb. plantarum 20-10, Lb. plantarum A-1, P. pentosaceus A-2, P. pentosaceus A-5, Lb. plantarum A-6, P. pentosaceus B-11로 동정이 되었다. 이들 균주를 억제할 수 있는 항균활성을 지닌 균주를 적숙기 김치로부터 선발한 결과 Lc. lactis, Lb. brevis 두 균주가 항균활성이 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 이들 균주의 김치 종균으로서의 적용 가능성을 살펴본 결과 모든 균주가 PH 3.5에서의 내산성, 3% NaCl에서의 내염성, $4^{\circ}C$에서의 생육가능성을 나타내었다.
