행동교정요법이 비만아동의 신체지수, 습관 및 자아존중감에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Behavior Modification on Physical Variables, Habit and Self-esteem in Obese Elementary School Children)

  • Behavior modification is an approach to decrease degree of obesity through changing maladaptive eating habit and life style. It produces small amount of weight loss but it has few side effects and low dropout rate. It also has great effectiveness on maintenance of decreased weight. This study was performed to investigate effects of behavior modification on physical variables, fat and thin habit, and self-esteem in obese elementary school children. Sixty two students of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade were selected from two elementary schools located in the suburbs of Seoul. Thirty four children in one school were assigned to experimental group and twenty eight children in another school were assigned to control group. All subjects were healthy and were not on any type of obesity control. Behavior modification, in this study, was consisted of introduction, self-monitoring and stimuli control, education about diet and physical activities, individual counseling and reinforcement, requesting personal assistance, cognitive restructuring, and closing and long-term planning. Experimental group was received 60~70 minutes of behavior modification once a week for 8 weeks from October 16 to December 22, 2000. Control group was not received any intervention. Data were collected before and after intervention by measuring physical variables, fat and thin habit, and self-esteem. Physical variables consisted of obesity index, skinfold thickness, body fat(percentage of body fat, fat mass, fat free mass), serum lipids(total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C, triglyceride) and serum leptin. The results were as follows ; 1. physical variables 1) Obesity index of the experimental group was significantly decreased after behavior modification. But there was no significant difference between two groups. 2) The increase of skinfold thickness was significantly low in the experimental group compared to the control group. 3) Percentage of body fat and fat mass were significantly decreased in the experimental group. Fat free mass was significantly increased in the experimental group. 4) Total cholesterol, HDL-C, triglyceride and serum leptin between the experimental group and control group showed no significant difference. LDL-C was significantly decreased in the control group. 2. Thin habit score was significantly increased in the experimental group. In subcategories of habit, thin scores of life style, attitude, social relationship, nutrition were signifi- cantly increased in the experimental group. 3. Self-esteem score was significantly increased in the experimental group. These results indicate that behavior modification is effective in decreasing percentage of body fat and fat mass, in less increasing skinfold thickness and in increasing fat free mass, thin habit, and self-esteem. In conclusion, behavior modification can be used as safe and effective strategy for managing obesity in elementary school children.

전북지역 성인의 연령별 닭 메뉴 인지도와 기호도 연구 (A Study on the Recognition and Preference of a Chicken Menu in Adults in the Jeonbuk Area)

  • This study investigated the recognition and preference of a chicken menu according to the age of adults in the Jeonbuk area. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from 394 adults (male 55.3%, female 44.7%) residing in the Jeonbuk area. Descriptive and comparative statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS v. 12.0. The frequency of consumption of chicken-containing foods for the younger group (20~30 years old) was significantly higher than the frequency of older groups (over 40) (p<0.001). The younger group also consumed chicken food through a delivery service, whereas the older group consumed chicken through delivery and self-cooking. Approximately 50.0% of the older group preferred the chicken leg whereas 38.1% of the younger group preferred the chicken breast (p<0.001). The most highly recognized chicken menu items, among 36 chicken menus, were Samgyetang (2.93), chicken dori-tang (2.93), and fried chicken (2.93). The older group knew about a chicken menu made by traditional cooking much more than the younger group. The most highly preferred chicken menu item was spicy fried chicken (4.18). The preference for Western-style chicken menu (e.g. Cajun chicken salad, chicken sandwich) was significantly higher in the younger group than the older group (p<0.001, p<0.05). Therefore, to develop a new chicken menu, the consideration of favorite chicken parts and an age-based menu is necessary.

경북지역 일부 초등학생의 비만도에 따른 생화학 검사치와 식습관 (The Differences of Biochemical Status and Dietary Habits according to the Obesity Degree among Obese Elementary School Students in the Gyungbuk Area)

  • The prevalence of obesity in children has steadily risen during recent years in developed countries. Child obesity has become a major concern to health providers since it has grown to epidemic proportions over the past few decades. This study was conducted to investigate the biochemical status, dietary habits and life styles according to the obesity degree among obese children residing in the Gyungbuk area. The subjects were 148 elementary school students (boy 103, girl 45) and classified as mildly obese (n = 56), moderately obese (n = 61) and severely obese (n = 31) by the obesity index. The average body weight and height increased significantly according to the obesity degree (p < 0.05, p < 0.001). Serum cholesterol concentration came under the normal level in all groups. Serum AST activity increased according to the obesity degree but it was not significant. Serum ALT activity increased according to the obesity degree (p < 0.05). Dietary habit score was lower significantly according to the obesity degree (p < 0.01). Life style of the subjects was significantly different for the level of 'healthy state (p < 0.05)', 'body perception (p < 0.01)', 'watching TV and video (p < 0.05)', 'normal sleeping hour (p < 0.05)' and 'degree of stress (p < 0.05)' according to the obesity degree. A positive relationship between obesity index and blood pressure, ALT has been shown in the subjects. Obesity index and dietary habit scores were negatively associated. Therefore, these results suggest that a practical nutrition-exercise education program for the prevention of child obesity should be provided to elementary school children. Obesity and its association with diets and sedentary life style among school children in Seoul, Korea: Compliance with Dietary References Intakes for Koreans food guides

  • This study compared obese children's food group intakes with the new Dietary References Intakes for Koreans (KDRIs) food guides for 5th-6th grade school children. This study also determined the extent of sedentary life styles related with obesity in this area of children. This is it cross-sectional study of 799 school children. The dietitian sent a survey form describing the project and a questionnaire to the subject's family. The questionnaire included child demographics, family history of chronic diseases, the daily servings of five food groups, such as grains, meat and beans, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables. The daily or weekly hours of physical activity, television viewing, and computer usage were also surveyed. Obesity index (%) of the subjects was calculated, and children with an obesity index (%) equal to or greater than 20 were classified as the obese. Among the 799 participants, 50.7% were female. The percentages of the normal and the obese were 691 (86.5%) and 108 (13.5%) respectively. Obese children reported eating less vegetables (p<0.05), more high sugar snacks (p<0.05), and high fat snacks (p<0.05) than normal children. No significant differences in food servings of grains, meats and beans, and fruits, and dairy products between the normal and the obese were shown. Obese children reported fewer hours of physical activities (p<0.05) and more hours of computer usage (p<0.05) than normal children. Girls showed less likelihood of being obese (odds ratio, 0.575, CI (0.38, 0.87), p<0.05). More hours of physical activity significantly decreased the likelihood of being obese (odds ratio, 0.572, CI (0.35, 0.92), p<0.05). Family history of obesity almost doubled the likelihood of obesity in children (odds ratio, 2.653, CI (1.660, 4.241), p<0.05). In conclusion, frequent snacking, inadequate vegetable consumption, and sedentary lifestyle increased significantly the likelihood of obesity in children, which suggest that obesity intervention in this age group should focuse more on those variables.

초등 예비교사와 경력교사의 좋은 수업 관점 비교 (A Comparison of Viewpoints on the Good Lesson between Elementary School Pre-service Teachers and Experienced Teachers)

  • Through the criticism and evaluation of different classes teaching the same lesson topic, this study compared the viewpoints by two ways between two groups including pre-service and experienced teachers. Through free-style criticism, this study analyzed the differences between pre-service and experienced teachers' areas of attention. Through criteria-based analysis, the study analyzed the judgement of each area and the criteria of each judgement. The results of the study found that pre-service teachers criticised more limited areas, but somewhat more positive than their experienced teacher counterparts. Also, pre-service teachers did not observe thoroughly whether or not the teacher was well-informed of the science content, the sequence of curriculum, and whether or not meaningful interaction had occurred. As well as, pre-service teachers were not actually feel importance of student-oriented lessons, and they could not look room and materials are useful to students on students' sides. Additionally, pre-service teachers thought highly of lessons which were connected to other subjects rather than connected to daily life. Therefore, to notice diverse areas in the class, pre-service teachers need to criticise lessons using a diverse criterion. Also, pre-service teachers realized simple questions and that mechanical group activities are not always effective and that they need to think how to improve meaningful interaction. Moreover, they have to perceive that an inquiry-oriented student-lead approach is very important. Lastly, pre-service teachers have to closely consider the room efficiency and materials available to the students, and they must internalize that science class has to be connected with daily life.

파스큐라의 미술론 (PASKYULA's Theory of Art)

  • PASKYULA was formed in September, 1923 through the union of artists involved in two art groups: Kim Ki-Jin, Kim Bok-Jin, Yeon Hak-Nyeon who had previously participated in the ToWolHoi, and Park Young-Hi, Lee Sang-Hwa, An Seok-Ju, former members of the BaeckJo. After its founding, the PASKYULA artists had been searching for the social function of art to reform the harsh reality of Minjung and the nation with criticism toward society as well as art world. Their art theory for MinJung could grow relatively ease in relation to changing social and political conditions in the early 1920s. In August, 1925, PASKYULA organized the Korea Artista Proletaria Federatio with the YeomGunSa, and laid the groundwork for Proletariat art movement which was regularized in the late 1920s. From PASKYULA up to the early state of KAPF, the theory of art advocated by Kim Bok-Jin and An Seok-Ju could be summarized as "art for MinJung". At that time, widely ranging discourses on MinJung, however, was spawned in art theory, because many intellectuals-including artists and writers-begun to pay more attention to MinJung, who emerged as one of the social forces after the Samil Independent Movement. Sometimes, MinJung was construed as the target of enlightenment from a negative viewpoint. On the other hand, several intellectuals under the influence of individualism asserted that the discussion itself on MinJung exerted an evil influence on art. In contrast of these cases, the PASKYULA artists including Kim Bok-Jin, An Seok-Ju perceived that MinJung had the potential to change society, and regarded them as "a creator of genuine civilization and art". In the PASKYULA artist's writings, the concept of MinJung was often overlapped with the meaning of the Choson nation suffering under colony. Although their concept of MinJung was transformed gradually into the proletariat as they were under the strong influence of socialism, it did not change that they grasped the realities of the whole Choson Peninsula through the proletarian consciousness. In the early state of PASKYULA, the methodology for social function of art was presented in a twofold manner. First of all, Kim Bok-Jin emphasized on the necessity of education to improve MinJung's way of life through art, and it was embodied by the organization of ToWol Art Workshop and public lecture. Also, he championed "the popularization of art", which was one of methods to distribute art to MinJung. According to the PASKYULA artists, art should be not art for art' sake but art for MinJung. That was why they advocated the convergence of art and MinJung's life. Especially Kim Bok-Jin affirmed a link between art and industry because he considered industry the field inextricably linked with MinJung's life. In this context, his idea could be read as the generalization and equalization within the framework of possession. Kim Bok-Jin thought that the social ramifications of capitalism deprived MinJung of their right to enjoy art, and emphasized the artist' social role to return the right to them. That is, the even distribution of art was mainly discussed than the contents of art in the half of 1920s. By 1925, the contents of art itself became an issue in the PASKYULA art theory, and it was based in realism. Kim Bok-Jin and An Seok-Ju insisted that art should be reflection of real life. At that time, realism acquired the representation of MinJung and the nation's realities not realistic style. In fact, the various Western art styles including Futurism, Constructivism, Cubism etc. were exploited in the PASKYULA's visual images. Western art, target of criticism on theory, was selectively adopted in the works which were produced by Kim Bok-Jin and An Seok-Ju. Kim Bok-Jin's MoonYeUnDong cover design was conceived of as the example in which Western art was adopted with it's ideology under the influence of MAVO, while Western art shown in An Seok-Ju's illustrations served as a decorative function in many cases. Especially, An Seok-Ju attempted the various styles of Western art simultaneously, which may be seen as representing that PASKYULA did not have a firm ideology for their style. Also, it can be read as showing his hasty zeal to overcome Western art rapidly. The wish to establish "art for MinJung" as soon as possible was accompanied with the will to jump over the all steps of Western art though it was superficial. This aspiration of PASKYULA was expressed through the mass media, which had the potential for communicating to MinJung. At this point, there was a significant disparity between PASKYULA and another art groups in the first half of 1920s. However, the PASKYULA's method on the basis of the mass media could not but have a certain limitation because of the medium's properties. Nevertheless, PASKYULA' attempts may be considered to be valuable in sense that they expended the boundaries of Korean modern art into the commercial art questioning the matter of the distribution for art.

비만도와 체력이 비만 아동의 자기 효능감, 삶의 질, 자아개념에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of BMI and Physical Ability on Self-efficacy, Quality of Life, and Self-esteem in Overweight and Obese Children)

  • 본 연구에서는 초등학교 4-6학년을 대상으로 첫째, 비만도에 따른 아동의 심리사회적 적응과 체력 수준의 차이를 밝히고, 둘째, 비만도와 체력이 과체중 이상 아동의 심리사회적 적응에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 과체중 이상 아동은 '한국 비만 아동의 신체 활동과 건강(KOCPA)' 연구의 비만 캠프 프로그램에서, 대조군 아동은 서울 시내 초등학교에서 표준 성장도표의 체질량지수를 기준으로 모집되었다. 심리사회적 변인으로 자아 효능감 검사(식이 자아 효능감, 체중 조절 효능감, 신체 효능감), 자아개념검사, 소아용 삶의 질 검사가 사용되었으며, 신체 계측 및 체력은 직접 측정되었다. 연구 결과, 비만도가 증가할수록 심리사회적 적응과 체력 수준이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 과체중 및 비만 아동은 정상체중 대조군에 비해 유의하게 낮은 효능감 및 자아개념, 삶의 질을 보고하였다. 과체중 및 비만 아동을 대상으로 심리사회적 적응에 비만도와 체력, 두 변인의 상호작용이 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과, 체력이 좋을수록 높은 체중조절 효능감, 신체 효능감, 삶의 질이 예측되었다. 또한 비만도와 체력의 상호작용 효과가 비만 아동의 자아개념 수준을 예측하였는데, 이는 비만도가 그리 높지 않은 아동들은 체력 수준의 향상이 자아개념을 유지할 것이라고 예측 가능하지만 비만도가 상대적으로 매우 높을 경우에는 우선적으로 비만도의 감소가 우선적으로 이루어져야 함을 시사한다. 본 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 함의와 한계점에 대해 논의하였다.

초기진단 고지혈증 환자의 식습관 조사와 양파가루 섭취가 혈중지질에 미치는 영향 연구 (Study on Dietary Habit and Effect of Onion Powder Supplementation on Serum Lipid Levels in Early Diagnosed Hyperlipidemic Patients)

  • 본 연구에서는 고지혈증 판정을 받은 $40{\sim}50$대 남성 14명에게 12주 동안의 양파가루 섭취가 고지혈증의 완화에 영향을 주는지 알아보기 위해 양파섭취 전과 후의 식이조사, 식생활조사, 식습관 조사 및 혈 중 지질의 변화를 비교 고찰하였다. 고지혈증 환자의 대부분이 식사 시에 ‘콜레스테롤’, ‘지방’을 주의한다고 하였다. 건강유지 방법으로는 주로 ‘운동’을 생각하고 있었다. 지방 식품의 섭취빈도는 ‘기름이 많은 고기 버터, 생크림’은 ‘1주일에 $3{\sim}5$일(12명)’, ‘계란노른자, 어육류 내장, 오징어’는 ‘1주일에 $3{\sim}5$일’(9명), ‘기름이 많은 음식, 마요네즈’는 1주일에 $3{\sim}5$일’(8명)로 나타났다. 열량영양소의 섭취비율은 고지혈증 치료지침에 비하여 당질은 낮게, 지방과 콜레스테롤은 다소 높게 섭취하고 있었다. 조사요인들 간의 상관관계에서는 외식 빈도의 증가에 따라 알코올 섭취량이 증가하는 것(p<0.01)으로, 알코올 섭취량은 BMI에도 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 운동의 경우 HDL-콜레스테롤에는 양의 상관성(p<0.01)을, AI에는 음의 상관성(p<0.05)을 보이면서 영향을 주었다. 양파가루 섭취 후의 건강의 느낌 변화 및 기대에서는 대부분의 환자들 (12명)이 건강이 좋아질 것이라고 응답하였으며, 앞으로도 양파가루를 계속 섭취하겠다고 응답한 환자는 8명이었다. 양파가루 섭취로 환자의 체성분에서 어떤 유의적인 변화도 유발시키지 못하였다. 양파가루 섭취로 총 콜레스테롤 (p<0.01)과 LDL-콜레스테롤(p<0.01) 및 동맥경화지수 (p<0.05)가 유의적으로 감소하였고, GOT와 GPT는 변화가 없었다. 본 연구에서는 양파가루의 보충 섭취가 고지혈증 환자들에서 혈중 지질수준과 동맥경화지수를 유의적으로 감소시키는 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다만 비록 정상 범위의 값을 보이고 있었으나 중성지방의 농도가 유의적으로 증가한 것은 유의해야 할 점이며 앞으로 더 많은 연구가 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 일부 환자들만을 상대로 12주간의 중재기간을 통한 실험을 하였으나 짧은 기간이었고, 위약군을 실시하지 못하여 양파의 충분한 효과를 논하기에는 부족한 점이 분명히 있다. 다만 다른 식생활의 변화나 약물의 사용 없이 양파가루의 섭취만으로 혈중 지질 값이 유의적으로 감소한 것은 양파의 기능성식품으로서의 가능성은 보여준 것으로 생각된다. 앞으로 더 많은 실험대상자들을 상대로 대조군과 실험군의 비교를 통한 장기간의 임상실험을 통하여 좀 더 깊이 있는 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

The Effect of Probiotic on Constipation in Rats

  • 변비는 우리나라나 서구국가에서 가장 흔한 질환중의 하나로서 생활 습관, 식이, 육체적 활동, 스트레스등과 밀접한 관련이 있다고 한다. 그리고 가임기의 여성에서 남성보다 빈도가 높으며 그 이유는 여성호르몬에 의한 대장운동성 저하때문이라고 한다. 본 연구는 로페라미드 투여에 의한 변비 쥐에서 프로바이오틱스가 장운동과 변비에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 시행되었다. 로페라미드 투여는 쥐에서 변량은 감소시킨 대신에 변 pellet수는 증가시켰다. 변의 수분함량은 로페라미드 투여에 의하여 감소하였으나 건조 변량은 실험군간의 유의한 차이는 없었다. 따라서 로페라미드는 장 운동 감소에 의하여 변비를 유발하는 것으로 생각되었다. 프로바이오틱스의 투여는 로페라미드에 의하여 발생한 장 운동 저하와 변비를 완화시켜 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과로 미루어 보아 프로바이오틱은 로페라미드에 의한 장 운동 감소 및 변비발생을 예방 또는 치료해 줄수 있는 것으로 생각되었다.

녹차 섭취기간에 따른 질병 발현 연구 (A Study of Disease Prevalence According to Green Tea Consumption)

  • 본 연구는 녹차의 섭취기간에 따른 질병 발현 정도를 조사하기 위하여 경상남도 하동군에 거주하는 주민 92명을 대상으로 설문조사를 통하여 이루어졌다. 조사대상자들의 녹차 섭취기간에 따라 녹차를 마시지 않는 대조군과 10년 미만 녹차 섭취군 및 10년 이상 녹차 섭취군의 3분위로 나누어 녹차의 장기간 섭취가 건강관련 변인과 식습관에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 조사대상자의 일반적 특성은 전체 대상자 중 남자가 41명, 여자가 51명이었으며, 평균연령은 대조군이 62.0세, 2분위 60.1세, 3분위 57.2세로 나타났다. 건강관련 생활습관으로 음주여부는 1분위에서 45.5%, 2분위 36.1%, 3분위 37.5%가 음주를 하는 것으로 나타나, 녹차를 마시는 집단에서의 음주비율이 낮게 나타났다. 마시는 술의 종류로는 소주가 가장 많은 비중을 차지하였으며, 음주의 빈도는 1, 3분위에서 주 5~6회 마신다가 50%이상, 2분위는 주 1~2회가 53.8%로 가장 많이 차지하였다. 흡연여부는 80%정도가 거의 담배를 피우지 않는 것으로 조사되어 바람직한 흡연행동을 나타내었다. 신체활동정도는 모든 집단이 농사일에 직접 참여함으로써 왕성한 활동정도를 보였으며, 건강보조식품은 잘 섭취하지 않는 것으로 조사되었다. 질병유병률을 조사한 결과, 충치는 1분위 9%, 2분위 27%, 3분위 36%가 충치가 없다고하여 녹차의 장기간 섭취가 충치 예방에 다소간의 영향을 미쳤음을 알 수 있었다. 감기는 각 분위에서 77%, 87%, 76%로 감기를 잘 앓지 않는 것으로 조사되었으나 유의성은 없었다. 골다공증에 관한 문진 결과 29%, 64%, 100%순으로 정상이라고 응답하였다. 그러나 골다공증 검사율이 저조하여 녹차의 효과를 비교하기는 힘들었다. 식습관 점수는 녹차를 장기간 섭취할수록 유의적으로 좋은 점수를 나타내었다. 본 연구의 대상자들은 녹차를 접할 기회가 많고 주로 질병의 예방 및 개선을 목적으로 마시고 있었기에 녹차의 기능성에 대해서 많은 관심과 기대를 보여주고 있었다. 게다가 본 조사의 결과, 녹차의 장기간 음용이 충치, 골다공증과 같은 질병의 예방 및 식습관 향상에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었고 나아가 녹차의 섭취를 증가시키기 위해서는 차 이외의 다양한 음식과 생활용품으로의 개발이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.
