As the attracting foreign student has become a very important strategy, detailed researches on their college selection and their satisfaction with college life are needed. Especially it is necessary to distinguish ordinary international students and those who take classes in Local Education Centers (LEC) before coming to Korea. The central purpose of this study is to identify how the two types of students differ in their perception of college selection factors and what factors affect their satisfaction with college life. A total of 186 international students participated in the study. It was found that the most important college selection factor of the pre-educated LEC students was 'obtaining academic ability through online classes and transfer of credit hours'. Second, these students reported that the two influential factors for their satisfaction with college life were 'quality of education' and 'cultural experience program'. Third, it was found that the major college selection factors influencing ordinary international students' college life satisfaction were 'expertise of faculty', 'transfer of credit through curriculum links', and 'recommendation from teachers at home country'. Fourth, the major factors affecting the pre-educated LEC students' satisfaction with college life were 'KSL classes at LE's', 'expertise of faculty', and 'financial aid system'.
The purpose of this study is to review Chinese policy on internet game addiction, and understand the level of internet game addiction, anxiety, and life satisfaction levels, and examine how game addiction affects life satisfaction with anxiety as a medium among male university students in China. In order to achieve the goals of the study, a survey was conducted on 240 male university students in Harbin, China. The research results are as follows. First, the internet game addiction level of male university students was at a relatively low level. Only 2.9% scored over 36 points, the litmus test for the category of clinical criterion, whereas the majority belonged to the general user group. Meanwhile, anxiety was at an intermediate level, along with a relatively high level of life satisfaction. Next, internet game addiction showed a positive correlation with anxiety, and a negative correlation with life satisfaction level. A negative correlation was found between anxiety and life satisfaction level. Lastly, anxiety was found to play a complete mediation role, as a mediator variable between internet game addiction and life satisfaction level. Based on the above results, policy and practical suggestions are proposed to improve the mental health of university students and to prevent and treat game addiction within China.
The purposes of this study were to find the correlation of family abuse experience, social maladaptation, ego resilience and daily life satisfaction in university students, and to explore the mediating role between ego resilience between family abuse experience, social maladaptation and daily life satisfaction. The subjects were 265 university students. The data were analyzed with frequency, Pearson's correlation and structural equation modeling by SPSS and AMOS. Instruments were Bradburn(1969)'s The Structure of Psychological Well-being, Olson and Barnes(1982)' Quality of Life, Straus(1988)'s CTSPC(Parent-Child Conflict Tactics Scales), Shin(2001)'s social maladaptation of Korean General Health, and Block and Kremen(1996)'s ego resilience. The major findings were as follows; Family abuse experience and social maladaptation were negatively correlated with ego resilience and daily life satisfaction. Ego resilience was positively correlated with daily life satisfaction. Ego resilience mediated the effects of family abuse experience, social maladaptation and daily life satisfaction. Family abuse experience and social maladaptation negatively influenced ego resilience and daily life satisfaction. Ego resilience positively influenced daily life satisfaction. Thus special education program and counseling should be provided to increase university students' daily life satisfaction through in order to built ego resilience.
The purpose of this study was to examine the life satisfaction of adolescents in the ecological contexts of their individual, family, school, and social-cultural experiences. The participants were 1,099 middle and high school students in Chungnam-do. The purposes of this study were to examine the general levels of family strength, self-determination and life satisfaction perceived by university students. Also, this study aimed to verify the mediating effect of self-determination between family strength and life satisfaction. The subjects of this study were 350 university students in Korea and surveyed by self-reported questionnaires. The data was analysed by descriptive statistics, correlation, regression analysis, and Sobel test using SPSS 20.0. The results of the analysis were as follows. First, the levels of family strength, self-determination, life satisfaction perceived by university students were found to be higher than the middle score. Second, in the process of verification for seeking mediating effect of students' self-determination between family strength and life satisfaction, step1 showed that family strength revealed significant effects on life satisfaction level(${\beta}=.62$, p<.001). And in step2, family strength affected students' self-determination significantly(${\beta}=.47$, p<.001). Step3 which used family strength(${\beta}=.33$, p<.001) and self-determination(${\beta}=.62$, p<.001) together showed that self-determination had mediating effects between family strength and life satisfaction of students. It was proved significantly by Sobel test(Z=8.83, p<.001). Therefore, in order to enhance life satisfaction of university students, integrative services and systematic intervention programs as family education are required.
