This paper first introduces the concept of image as a key factor in recognition, and city identity as the dominant image of a region which is commonly possessed by individuals living and working in the region. Then, the new approach toward planning, the notion of self-organization associated with images and positive feedback mechanisms in terms of city vitalization, is discussed. Thirdly, carrying out the case study of a process in which Iida City in Japan has acquired a city identity as a puppet drama town, we present four stages in planning for city identity four stages and discuss the phenomena of city image self-organization. Finally, it is pointed out that multimedia are effective measures for the promotion of self-organization of city images, and that the role of local governments is very important in city planning to support the self-organization of cities.
This study is about the ‘paradigm’ which works as a theoretical base for planning and managing elderly housing. For this purpose, this study surveyed published research works, and analysed the contents and the paradigms of the researches. This is based on the literature survey, and surveyed 66 research works published in the last 8 years. The result of the survey tells us that almost all of the research works done by Korean scholars are based on the rational approach to the design of elderly housing. They emphasize ‘functional rationalism’ ‘technical perfection’ ‘reasonable program’ ‘economy and market’, etc. However, such qualities as‘character of human being’ ‘depth of existence’ ‘identity of culture’ ‘speciality of place’are not emphasized. This means that paradigms used by Korean scholars are biased, and are far from the plural culture characterizing 21 st century. This study, therefore, analysed new paradigms appeared on the recent research works about housing environment, and suggests several new paradigms which would be essential for future planning of elderly housing.

A design of Ice Cream Shop is an intended creation activity to increase the sales and profits by planning the space creativity and effectively. Accordingly, it should give the aesthetic and psychological satisfaction by making the space formative as a visual space expressed by a unique identity with a functional convenience. The design of Ice Cream Shop should reflect the changing demands and patterns of a consumption life as a result. Therefore a design plan is required to predict the living and culture. The design process can be divided into a basic planning, basic design and implementation design in large. The details are as follows. When a designer is assigned to the design from a client, he should start his work from surveying the site and arrangement, After arrangement, he sets up basic guidlines, which are called as a basic planning.

Compared with traditional itinerary planning, intention-oriented itinerary recommendations can provide more flexible activity planning without requiring the user's predetermined destinations and is especially helpful for those in unfamiliar environments. The rank and classification of points of interest (POI) from location-based social networks (LBSN) are used to indicate different user intentions. The mining of vehicles' physical trajectories can provide exact civil traffic information for path planning. This paper proposes a POI category-based itinerary recommendation framework combining physical trajectories with LBSN. Specifically, a Voronoi graph-based GPS trajectory analysis method is utilized to build traffic information networks, and an ant colony algorithm for multi-object optimization is implemented to locate the most appropriate itineraries. We conduct experiments on datasets from the Foursquare and GeoLife projects. A test of users' satisfaction with the recommended items is also performed. Our results show that the satisfaction level reaches an average of 80%.

In the 21st century numerous universities continue to have an interest in building a more sustainable campus. The concept related to sustainable development and sustainability is applied to new master plan of university or university building planning. The field of sustainable development can be conceptually broken into three constituent parts: environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and social sustainability. The realization of sustainable development will become when considered eco-friendly life of users, not only environmentally friendly technologies. This study aims to research the method of sustainable access to university building planning in Europe and Canada. First, certification and standards will focused on acquisition Green Building Certification. Then we look at trends of sustainability based on users and community through the system of prior consultation between university and users. For the desirable development of the sustainable campus, the sustainable planning of campus should be investigated with campus community, members and local residents considering the generation, the preservation, the maintenance of existing building.
The objective of this paper is to propose rural housing planning guidelines by conducting a survey on the needs of the elderly people engaged in farming activities and looking into complaints about their houses targeting 120 people from 50s to 70s. The method employed was a survey with questionnaires. The survey results showed the needs of the elderly for the rural housing are different from those of general retired elderly people because they still engage in farming activities even if they grow old. The needs are as follows. First, the respondents show high preference for the foyer storage to store equipments and goods related to agriculture. Second, the respondents have needs for enough kitchen area accommodating their house work and rural life. Lastly, the respondents highly prefer well planned storehouses in the exterior. In addition, they also want the storehouses directly connected with the house because this plan can save their workforce. They recognize storehouses are the most poorly planned space in the rural house because of the unsatisfactory space area and interior space planning. These needs should be reflected on the planning of rural housing for the elderly engaged in farming activities.
Population is important as a fundamental element of local industry and economy, and census data is essential to regional planning and policy making. Although there have been many researches on population and regional planning, there are few studies on population considering spatial unit. In this study, the population of three spatial scales were compared in order to establish the spatial unit suitable for the rural planning. The study area is Gangwon, Chungcheong-Nam, Chungcheong-Buk, Jeolla-Nam, Jeolla-Buk, Gyeonsang-Nam, Gyeonsang-Buk and Jeju province. Population were compared using statistical data analysis, GIS visualization, and spatial statistics. The mean, maximum, minimum, and variance of population were calculated and the coefficient of variation according to spatial unit was compared. The mean, maximum, minimum, and variance of population were calculated and the coefficient of variation according to spatial unit was compared. As the results, the census output area unit is difficult to interpret spatial analysis results. Administrative district unit has the limit that includes areas where the population does not live. The grid unit is well suited to the geographical characteristics but has many disadvantages of the grid with small population. Therefore, It is necessary to complement the limits of the Eup and Myeon-dong administrative district through the grid unit data.
This study is a basic study for reorganizing the facility system of agriculture and rural areas necessary for establishing a rural spatial plan. Accordingly, the newly implemented rural spatial planning system was briefly reviewed. As the scope of the study, the facility-related laws and the classification and classification system of facilities of previous studies were set as the scope of the study. In order to reorganize the facility system in rural areas necessary for establishing a rural space plan, this study compared and analyzed the facilities according to the laws related to the facilities and the use of previous studies. As a result of analyzing 21 target sites for rural agreements with 12 sectors of service facilities in rural areas as indicators, 14 facilities in 8 sectors were found to be commonly introduced for the establishment of living areas in rural areas or regional development. However, the classification of production space facilities related to agriculture as functional facilities necessary for rural life was insufficient. Accordingly, when considering the specificity of rural areas, it is necessary to classify facilities of living spaces in rural areas and production space of agriculture according to their use.

This study aims to identify the rural spatial structure and to establish the planning characteristics based on urban-rural connections strategy of North Korea. For this purpose, they were collected such as documents and drawings including primary data related to rural planning in North Korea, and the rural space were classified into three elements in order to analyze them by the rural planning's point of the view. Unlike generalized capitalist cities, socialist North Korean cities are characterized by the coexistence of urban and rural areas. This distinct feature of the city is also reflected in creating rural space in North Korea. Thus, The urban-rural integration in spatial planning is a key factor in understanding the spatial structure of North Korea. This study firstly examines the characteristics of the county(gun), the administrative and economic unit established in the post-war period, secondly, examines the planning method of town(eup) which can be called the urban center in rural areas, and lastly grasps the planning method of rural village focusing on collectivization and identifies how they are connected to the town for the shake of urban-rural integration. As a result, the characteristics of rural planning in North Korea has revealed that it has a comprehensive rural planning established with the goal of strengthening the self-sufficiency of the rural area by the means of the create of rural spatial hierarchy in the whole country.

This study focuses on the application of landscape planning(i.e. including rural landscape character area designation and rural landscape planning etc.). That application of landscape planning provides the probably most operable and comprehensive version of what is generally accepted by the discipline. According to the planning discipline the schemes of planning are to; Firstly, we derived the improvement of landscape and the methods of landscape characterization subsequent to analyze the present condition and grasp the landscape resources in Yesan via reviewing the current study and field survey. Secondly, in order to achieve environmentally friendly rural landscape plan and characteristic rural landscape creation, we planed the draft landscape area such as woodland, hydrology area, urbanized area, rural communities, etc. which was classified by sphere of life moreover, we planed partly outdoor facilities, road and colour suchlike. Thirdly, we tried to seek the programme of conservation and utilization for scenic and characteristic rural landscape area via rural landscape character area designation. Lastly, it is proposed that rural landscape planning lead to inhabitant participation, system improvement, subject performance for carrying out efficient rural landscape planning.
