Palladium present in colloidal-type plated spent catalyst solution that is used in electroless plating process has not been recovered but discharged as wastewater so far. Recyclig of paladium in colloidal-type plated spent catalyst solution is achieved with this study. This study presents the estimation of resource consumption and GHG emissions during the recycling and disposal of palladium in the plated spent catalyst solution using life cycle assessment. The reduction of resources and GHG are also estimated. Based on the palladium amount of 1 kg during disposal, the GHG emission amount was estimated to be 9.67E+03 kgCO2eq., and the amount of resource consumption was 3.94E+01 kgSb-eq. However, GHG emission was 1.96E+03 kgCO2eq., and the amount of resource consumption was 1.54E+01 kgSb-eq. during recycling. Considering the major substances affecting GHG emissions and amount of resource consumption, CO2 was found to significantly affect GHG emissions, accounting for 91.42% in disposal and 98.37% in recycling. The major substance affecting the amount of resource consumption was hard coal, which accounted for 40.63% in disposal and 60.73% in recycling. Upon recycling 1 kg palladium, 8,967.17 kgCO2eq. of greenhouse gas emission was reduced, while the resource consumption was reduced to 10.10 kg Sb-eq. In addition, the direct palladium resource reduction rate due to palladium recycling was 50%.
The current study applied the random forest algorithm to Korean crime victim survey data collected biennially between 2010 and 2018 to explore the relationship between crime/victim characteristics and the victim's criminal damages. A total of 3,080 cases including gender, age (life cycle stage), type of crime, perpetrator acquisition, repeated victimization, psychological damage (depression, isolation, extreme fear, somatic symptoms, interpersonal problems, moving out to avoid people, suicidal impulses, suicide attempts), and emotional changes after victimization (changes in self-protection confidence, self-esteem, confidence in others, confidence in legal institutions, and respect for Korean legal system/law) were analyzed. Considering the features of data that are difficult to apply traditional statistical techniques, this study implemented random forest algorithms to predict crime and victim characteristics using the victim's criminal damages (psychological damage and emotional change) and selected good predictors using VSURF function in VSURF package for R. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the relationship between the type of crime and depression, extreme fear, somatic symptoms, and interpersonal problems, between perpetrator acquisition and somatic symptoms and interpersonal problems, and between repeated victimization and changes in respect for Korean legal system/law. Gender and life cycle stage (youth/adult/elderly) were found to be related to extreme fear and changes in self-protection confidence, respectively. However, more empirical evidence should be aggregated to explain the results as meaningful. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to enhance the experts' knowledge and educate them on cases about the relationship between crime/victim characteristics and criminal damage. Strengthening their interview strategy and knowledge about law/rules were also needed to increase the effectiveness of the Korean victim assessment system.

Ministry of Land, Transportation and Marine Affairs(MLTM) has implemented Construction CALS project for improving productivity of construction industry and for making construction project management efficient by responding to informatization and knowledge base society in 21st century. CALS has beeb applied successfully to projects form MLTM, however, the outcomes of Construction CALS hasn't been recognized. In addition, there is no way to find how high the level of Construction CALS is when it is compared with other SOC informatization projects. This study found out the informatiziation level of Construction CALS by using the evaluation index proposed in the former study, and by comparing with other sectors. The evaluation on the level was implemented in the three parts such as informatization infrastructure(network, hardware, standardization, data, informatization, informatization security), informatization utilization(information usage, IT performance), and informatization support(informatization goal, organization of informatization, informatization investment, informatization education), and then, this evaluation was compared with "Assessment for level of industry information system", "Assessment for level of small and midium sized industry information system", and "IICI(Informatizaion Index for the Construction Industry)". With the result from the comparison, this study produced superior factors and inferior factors for each sector. These results are expected to be useful for prioritizing budget allocation by finding out the informatization level of Construction CALS.
In order to analyze environmental impact of livestock manure and organic fertilizers, this study investigated livestock-breeding and pollution loads, the status of individual and public livestock manure treatment facilities, and the status of production, supply and components of compost and liquid fertilizers in the Nonsan area. Also, on a trial basis, this study investigated the life cycle of the environmental impact of livestock manure and its organic fertilizers on stream, groundwater, and agricultural soil. The results are as follows. Firstly, were detected the range of $0.13{\sim}1.32{\mu}g/L$ of As, $0.004{\sim}0.467{\mu}g/L$ of Cd and $0.5{\sim}9.2{\mu}g/L$ of Pb as a harmful substances which show lower concentrations than person preservation criteria of water qualities and aquatic ecosystem. However, it is not clear that heavy metals affect environment such as stream, groundwater and agricultural soil. Secondly, this influence could change according to investigation time and treatment efficiency. As were detected large amounts of persistent organic pollutants(e.g. $14.24{\sim}38.47{\mu}g/L$ of acetylsalicylic acid, $1.17{\sim}2.96{\mu}g/L$ of sulfamethazine, and $2.25{\sim}174.09{\mu}g/L$ of sulfathiazole) in effluent from livestock farms and small amounts of sulfathiazole($ND{\sim}1.63{\mu}g/L$) in the stream, it is necessary to monitor POPs at individual and public livestock manure treatment facilities. However, significant environmental impact did not appear at groundwater and agricultural soil in the test area supplied with liquid fertilizers. These results could be applied to investigate the environmental impact of livestock manure through a comprehensive livestock manure management information system.
This experiment was conducted to evaluate the nutrient loss and to assess the eutrophication into small stream by intensive rains in the steeped cornfield during cultivation. The crop cultivated was a soiling com (DW5969), and the experimental plots were divided into two parts that were 10 and 18% of slope degrees. The amount of T-N and T-P loss was calculated by analysis of surface run-off water quality, and was investigated the effect of eutrophication to small stream as a part of life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology application. For the surface run-off water quality, EC and T-N values were highest in first runoff event as compared to the other events and maintained the stage state with litter variations at every hour during the runoff period except for EC in the slope 18%. However, T-P concentration has been a transient stage after runoff event of July 27. Total surface run-off ratio was not significantly different with slope degrees, but amount of T-N and T-P losses at 18% of slope were high as $5.96kg\;ha^{-1}\;and\;0.65kg\;ha^{-1}$ as relative to 10% of slope degree, respectively. Furthermore, T-N losses from run-off water in the sloped cornfield 10 and 18% were approximately 9.8 and 12.5% of the N applied as fertilizer when the fertilizer applied at recommended rates after soil test, respectively. For the eutrophication impact to the small stream, it was shown that $PO_4$ equivalence and Eco-indicator value at 18% of slope degree were greater as much $6.11kg\;ha^{-1}$ and 0.81 as compared to the slope angle 10%, respectively. Therefore, it was appeared that each effect of nutrient losses, eutrophication and Eco-indicator value was enhanced according with higher slope degree.
The defect caused by the software industry that is the source of knowledge-centric, information-centric and technology-centric affects an engine which operate a major role for operation of aircraft. Therefore, we should minimize the danger from the defect by strengthening the stability of aviation through the stability analysis of software. In this paper, we examine the laws and systems about the aircraft defects and software safety and propose the enhancement and the enactment of the law or measures to strengthen aviation safety. We should the existing law or system as items, such as the revision related to the safety analysis, standards of quality assurance including safety, application of quality assurance that you must attach the safety analysis report, assessment of detailed instructions of certification authorities. In addition, we should enact the new law and system as items such as the mandatory software evaluation and certification, continuous assessment based on the software life cycle, mandatory introduction of a standardized development methodology, strengthening of advanced workforce system. We can expect the improvement of software quality and an enhanced aviation safety by improving existing laws or systems and enacting new laws or systems.

In Korea, 'forest welfare' is officially included as a policy object and used as an academic term. The Korea Forest Service strives to provide a forest welfare services suitable for each life cycle from birth to death, and the public is highly aware of the need for these policies. The demand for National Woodland Burial Grounds is expected to increase as the interest in natural burials including woodland burial is increasing. As the demand for the Woodland Burial Grounds is increasing, there is only one National Woodland Burial Grounds currently available. Although other forest welfare facilities, such as natural recreation forests, must have undergone feasibility assessment according to relevant laws before approval of the designation, there are no institutions performing Woodland Burial Grounds feasibility assessments at the time. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the policies to cope with the increased demand. This study used GIS to prepare the basic data to be used in the process of selecting suitable forest locations. The area that cannot be used according to related laws was analyzed and the size of the possible areas in the state forests was assessed.

In the AEC(Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industry, BIM(Building Information Modeling) technology not only helps design intent efficiently, but also realizes an object-oriented design including building's life cycle information. Thus it can manage all data created in each building stage and the roles of BIM are greatly expanded. Contractors and designers have been trying to adopt BIM to design competitions and validate it for the best result in various aspects. Via the computational simulation which differs from the existing process, effective evaluation can be done. For this process, a modeling guideline for each kind of BIM tool and a validation system for the confidential assessment are required. This paper explains a new process about design evaluation methods and process using BIM technologies which follow the new paradigm in construction industry through complement points by an example of a competition activity of the Korea Power Exchange(KPX) headquarter office. In conclusion, this paper provides a basic data input guideline based on open BIM for automatic assessment and interoperability between different BIM systems and suggests a practical usage of the rule-based Model Checker.

The risk of failure in the development of modern weapon systems has been increasing as the demand on the capability and the resulting complexity of the weapons on the war fields are increasing drastically. The analysis of failure has indicated that the main causes can be the following: one is attributed to the unsatisfaction of the system operation concept; and the other is the use of premature technology. As such, DAPA in Korea is urging that the weapons systems development should meet the required operational capability (ROC) as a critical performance requirement. On the other hand, an approach to risk management is to use the technology readiness level (TRL) assessed for each individual technology alone. However, the method of TRL cannot assess the effect of integration between technologies and cannot be performed at system level, which is crucial to systems development. In order to improve the shortfalls, a concept of system readiness level (SRL) has been studied by introducing the technologies integration and also some forms of analysis of advanced degree of difficulty studied separately, but no model considering both of two reported yet. In this paper, under the framework of meeting the ROC, an improved SRL assessment model is presented, which is also considering the advanced degree of difficulty simultaneously. The application of the improved assessment method is discussed in connection with the life cycle of the weapon systems development in conformance with the ROC of DAPA.

FEED (Front End Engineering and Design) is the key area that determines the competitiveness of procurement and construction in the EPC contracts especially in terms of the added value. Nevertheless, previous researches in FEED have been limited to the process and deliverable of design work or the particular management business function (e.g. System Engineering, collaboration, information etc.). In this context, the purpose of this study is to propose a comprehensive FEED structure and its functions from the project management perspective throughout the whole project life-cycle for thermal power plants. Proposed FEED business procedures are classified into three levels; First level is the classification of FEED business phases, the second level defines major FEED management functions, and the third level is detailed FEED functions. A survey using proposed FEED functions and assessment variable was conducted in order to analyze the current status and the areas for future improvement. It is expected that the proposed structure, functions, and evaluation methodology for FEED management will contribute to effective practice of FEED as well as to improvement of competitive capability for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies.
