An application of the CMAC to robot control

  • An iterative learning control scheme is presented with the aid of CMAC module. By enforcing the role of linear controller with the introduction of velocity feedback, it becomes possible to make the trajectory error equation stable. One advantage of this control scheme is that it does not require acceleration feedback. Computer simulation results shows a good performance of the scheme even in the case where the gravity is not compensated.

  • This paper proposes the control problem of an inverted pendulum system based on adaptive fuzzy sliding mode. The universal approximating capability, learning ability, adaptation capability and disturbance rejection are collected in one control strategy. The proposed scheme does not require an accurate dynamic model and the joint acceleration measurement, yet it guarantees asymptotic trajectory tracking. Experimental results perform with an inverted pendulum to show the effectiveness of the approach.

  • In this paper, we present an iterative learning method of compensating for position sensor error. The previously known compensation algorithms need a special perfect position sensor or a priori information about error sources, while ours does not. to our best knowledge, any iterative learning approach has not been taken for sensor error compensation. Furthermore, our iterativelearning algorithm does not have the drawbacks of the existing interativelearning control theories. To be more specivic, our algorithm learns an uncertain function itself rather than its special time-trajectory and does not reuquest the derivatives of measurement signals. Moreover, it does not require the learning system to start with the same initial condition for all iterations. To illuminate the generality and practical use of our algorithm, we give the rigorous proof for its convergence and some experimental results.

  • In this paper, we point out the possibility of the divergence of control input caused by the estimation error of delay-time when general iterative learning algorithms are applied to a class of linear dynamic systems with time-delay in which delay-time is not exactly measurable, and then propose a new type of iterative learning algorithm in order to solve this problem. To resolve the uncertainty of delay-time, we propose an algorithm using holding mechanism which has been used in digital control system and/or discrete-time control system. The control input is held as constant value during the time interval of which size is that of the delay-time uncertainty. The output of the system tracks a given desired trajectory at discrete points which are spaced auording to the size of uncertainty of delay-time with the robust property for estimation error of delay-time. Several numerical examples are given to illustrate the effeciency of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents a new approach to the design of intelligent control system for track vehicle system using fuzzy logic based on neural network. The proposed control scheme uses a Gaussian function as a unit function in the neural network-fuzzy, and back propagation algorithm to train the fuzzy-neural network controller in the framework of the specialized learning architecture. It is proposed a learning controller consisting of two neural network-fuzzy based on independent reasoning and a connection net with fixed weights to simply the neural networks-fuzzy. The performance of the proposed controller is illustrated by simulation for trajectory tracking of track vehicle speed.

  • In this paper, the decoupled neural network reference compensation technique (DRCT) is applied to the control of a two degrees-of-freedom inverted pendulum mounted on an x-y table. Neural networks are used as auxiliary controllers for both the x axis and y axis of the PD controlled inverted pendulum. The DRCT method known to compensate for uncertainties at the trajectory level is used to control both the angle of a pendulum and the position of a cart simultaneously. Implementation of an on-line neural network learning algorithm has been implemented on the DSP board of the dSpace DSP system. Experimental studies have shown successful balancing of a pendulum on an x-y plane and good position control under external disturbances as well.

  • An Algorithm based on direct implementation of variable structure systems theory approach is proposed for on-line training of multilayer perceptrons. Network structures which have multiple inputs, single output and one hidden layer are considered and the weights are assumed to have capabilities for continuous time adaptation. The zero level set of the network learning error is regarded as a sliding surface in the learning parameters space. A sliding mode trajectory can be brought on and reached in finite time on such a sliding manifold. Results from simulated on-line identification task for a two-link planar manipulator dynamics are also presented.

The proposed control scheme uses a Gaussian function as a unit function in the frzzy-neural network, and back propagaton algorithm to train the fuzzy-neural network controller in the framework of the specialized learning architecture. It is proposed a learning controller consisting of two neural network-fuzzy based on independent reasoning and a connection net with fixed weights to simply the neural networks-fuzzy. The performance of the proposed controller is shown by performing the computer simulation for trajectory tracking of the speed and azimuth of a track vehicle driven by two independent wheels.

  • Practical applications of learning systems usually involve complex domains exhibiting nonlinear behavior and dilution by noise. Consequently, an intelligent system must be able to adapt to nonlinear processes as well as probabilistic phenomena. An important class of application for a knowledge based systems in prediction: forecasting the future trajectory of a process as well as the consequences of any decision made by e system. This paper examines the robustness of data mining tools under varying levels of noise while predicting nonlinear processes in the form of chaotic behavior. The evaluated models include the perceptron neural network using backpropagation (BPN), the recurrent neural network (RNN) and case based reasoning (CBR). The concepts are crystallized through a case study in predicting a Henon process in the presence of various patterns of noise.
