  • The scheduling methods of the distributed real-time systems have been proposed. However, they have some weak points. They did not schedule both sporadic and periodic tasks and messages at the same time or did not consider the end-to-end constraints such as precedence relations between sporadic tasks. This means that system scheduling must guarantee the constraints of practical systems and be applicable to them. This paper proposes a new scheduling method that can be applied to more practical model of distributed real-time systems. System model consists of sporadic and periodic tasks with precedence relations and sporadic and periodic messages and has end-to-end constraints. The proposed method is based on a binary search-based period assignment algorithm, an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm, and three kinds of schedulability analysis, node, network, and end-to-end schedulability analysis. In addition, this paper describes the application model of sporadic tasks with precedence constraints in a distributed real-time system, shows that existing scheduling methods such as Rate Monotonic scheduling are not proper to be applied to the system having sporadic tasks with precedence constraints, and proposes an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm.

  • This paper presents a very unique and analytic method for scheduling messages routed through a non-blocking switch. The laxities of schedulable messages are decomposed and the laxity table is rearranged so that the packets to be scheduled in the next time instance are placed in the diagonal of the traffic matrix. And the modified MLF-SDR algorithm is performed on the table. We present some examples and simulation results which show that the success rate is very high, even when the size of which is large.

  • The pelvic distraction-stress radiographs of 50 clinically normal Korean Jindo which confirmed to have non-dysplastic hip joints on the ventrodorsal extension view, were investigated to evaluate the passive coxofemoral joint laxity as quantified by the distraction index. The synovial fluid cavitation of the unilateral coxofemoral joint was detected in 8 dogs, and distraction index was not measured in theses cavitated joints. The distraction index measured minimally 0.20, and maximally 0.74. The medial distraction index for the dog examined was 0.42, and 75th percentile distraction index was below 0.50.

  • As low-power and low-rate WSNs are being widely used for industrial applications, the scheduling of such applications becomes a critical issue to guarantee meeting the stringent requirements of determinism and tight latencies. This paper studies the link scheduling problem for real-time industrial applications in time-slotted channel hopping (TSCH) networks. We propose a heuristic algorithm for centralized link scheduling referred to as path-collision aware least laxity first (PC-LLF) algorithm, which dynamically prioritizes the packets based on the laxity time to the end-to-end deadlines and the amount of collisions that messages might deal with along their designated paths to the destination device. We propose schedulability analysis of real-time applications scheduled under our prioritization approach over TSCH networks, based on the literature on real-time schedulability analysis of multiprocessors and distributed systems. We show that our methodology provides an improved schedulability condition with respect to the existing approaches. Performance evaluation studies quantify to quantify the performance of our proposed approach under a variety of scenarios.

  • Acquired cutis laxa is a rare disease. Owing to few reports on the condition, no statistical data have been produced. Cutis laxa is characterized by drooping skin, caused by decreased levels of dermal elastin, leading to reduced skin elasticity. The disease usually emerges on the neck or trunk and spreads throughout the body; however, it rarely involves the extremities. Moreover, cases localized to the face are rare. The objective of this clinical case report was to highlight this unusual disease in a 24-year-old female, with localization on the face and neck. The patient underwent surgery for treatment of bilateral ear lobe and eyelid skin laxity.

  • Mobile real-time systems with limited system resources and a limited power source need to fully utilize the system resources when the workload is heavy and reduce energy consumption when the workload is light. EDZL (Earliest Deadline until Zero Laxity), a multiprocessor real-time scheduling algorithm, can provide high system utilization, but little work has been done aimed at reducing its energy consumption. This paper tackles the problem of DVFS (Dynamic Voltage/Frequency Scaling) in EDZL scheduling. It proposes a technique to compute a uniform speed on full-chip DVFS platforms and individual speeds of tasks on per-core DVFS platforms. This technique, which is based on the EDZL schedulability test, is a simple but effective one for determining the speeds of tasks offline. We also show through simulation that the proposed technique is useful in reducing energy consumption.
