Study on deformation law of surrounding rock of super long and deep buried sandstone tunnel

  • The finite difference software Flac3D is used to study the influence of tunnel burial depth, tunnel diameter and lateral pressure coefficient of original rock stress on the stress and deformation of tunnel surrounding rock under sandstone condition. The results show that the maximum shear stress, the radius of the plastic zone and the maximum displacement in the surrounding rock increase with the increase of the diameter of the tunnel. When the lateral pressure coefficient is 1, it is most favorable for surrounding rock and lining structure, with the increase or decrease of lateral pressure coefficient, the maximum principal stress, surrounding displacement and plastic zone range of surrounding rock and lining show a sharp increase trend, the plastic zone on the lining increases with the increase of buried depth.

  • For exisiting $K_0$-oedometer, the lateral wall of the ring is cut thinly to make space and by filling the space with space with water or mercuty to keep the balance to the lateral pressure of a specimen, the pressure of the fluid is checked for the pressure of the specimen. But the devices to keep the balance to the lateral pressure of a specimen are complicated, difficult to manufacture and expensive. As newly developed $K_0$-oedometer is equipped with the load cell which can resist higher pressute than the lateral pressure of the specimen, there is nearly no deformation due to the lateral pressure of the specimen. And the measuting is cheap and easy as there are fewer accessories.

Effect of soil condition on the coefficient of lateral earth pressure inside an open-ended pipe pile

  • Finite element analyses using coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian technique are performed to investigate the effect of soil conditions on plugging of open-ended piles in sands. Results from numerical simulations are compared against the data from field load tests on three open-ended piles and show very good agreement. A parametric study focusing on determination of the coefficient of lateral earth pressure (K) in soil plug after pile driving are then performed for various soil densities, end-bearing conditions, and layering conditions. Results from the parametric study suggest that the K value in the soil plug - and hence the degree of soil plugging - increases with increasing soil densities. The analysis results further show that the K value within the soil plug can reach about 63 to 71% of the coefficient of passive earth pressure after pile driving. For layered soil profiles, the greater K values are achieved after pile driving when the denser soil layer is present near the pile base regardless of number of soil layers. This study provides comprehensive numerical and experimental data that can be used to develop advanced theory for analysis and design of open-ended pipe piles, especially for estimation of inner shaft resistance after pile driving.

Numerical Investigation of the Shock Interaction Effect on the Lateral Jet Controlled Missile

  • A computational study on the supersonic flow around the lateral jet controlled missile has been performed. Case studies have been performed by comparing the normal force coefficient and the moment coefficient of a missile body for several different jet flow conditions, angle of attacks, circumferential jet locations, and spouting jet angles. For the several different jet flow conditions, which include the jet pressure, the jet Mach number, and the corresponding jet mass flow rate, the results show that the normal force coefficient is almost proportional to the jet thrust but the moment coefficient is not. Distinctly different flow phenomena can be noticed as the pressure ratio and the jet Mach number increase. By investigating the angle of attack effect to the normal force and the pitching moment, it has been identified that the normal force and the pitching moment show nonlinearity with respect to the angle of attack. From the detailed flow field analyses with respect to the jet flow conditions and the angle of attacks, it is verified that most of the normal force loss and the pitching moment generation are taken place at the low-pressure region behind the jet nozzle. Furthermore, the normal force and the pitching moment characteristics of the missile have been identified by comparing different circumferential jet locations and spouting jet angles.

복층터널에서 중간슬래브와 측압계수에 따른 세그먼트 라이닝의 거동분석 (Behavior of the Segment Lining due to the Middle Slab and the Lateral Pressure Coefficient in Duplex Tunnel)

  • 대심도 지하 네트워크 구축을 위한 대심도 복층터널의 계획 시 세그먼트 라이닝의 거동을 주요 구조물인 중간슬래브와 측압계수(K)에 따라 검토하였다. 연구를 위하여 세그먼트 라이닝 해석법을 검토하였고, 대심도 복층터널에 적합한 해석 모델을 결정하였다. 또한 연직하중에 대해 검토하였고, 중간슬래브 하중은 슬래브 자중인 정하중과 차량에 의한 활하중을 고려하였다. 연구결과 중간슬래브 하중 적용에 따른 단면력은 터널 하부에 주로 발생하였고 휨모멘트의 크기에 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 휨모멘트 작용 방향의 변화가 큰 변수로 나타났고, 중간슬래브 하중 적용에 따른 단면력의 크기는 비교적 일정하여, 단면력의 발생이 가장 작은 측압계수 1.00에서 세그먼트 라이닝에 미치는 영향이 제일 크게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과로 복층터널의 슬라브와 측압계수(K)의 영향에 의한 세그먼트 라이닝의 거동을 파악하여 합리적이고 경제적인 복층터널 구조물 설계의 방향을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Tunnel excavation leads to a disturbance on the initial stress balance of surrounding soils, which causes convergences around the tunnel and settlements at the ground surface. Considering the effective impact of settlements on the structures at the surface, it is necessary to estimate them, especially in urban areas. In the present study, ground settlements due to the excavation of East-West Line 7 of the Tehran Metro (EWL7) and the Abuzar tunnels are evaluated and the effect of the lateral earth pressure coefficient ($K_0$) on their extension is investigated. The excavation of the tunnels was performed by TBMs (Tunnel Boring Machines). The coefficient of lateral earth pressure ($K_0$) is one of the most important geotechnical parameters for tunnel design and is greatly influenced by the geological characteristics of the surrounding soil mass along the tunnel route. The real (in-situ) settlements of the ground surface were measured experimentally using leveling methods along the studied tunnels and the results were compared with evaluated settlements obtained from both semi-empirical and numerical methods (using the finite difference software FLAC3D). The comparisons permitted to show that the adopted numerical models can effectively be used to predict settlements induced by a tunnel excavation. Then a numerical parametric study was conducted to show the influence of the $K_0$ values on the ground settlements. Numerical investigations also showed that the shapes of settlement trough of the studied tunnels, in a transverse section, are not similar because of their different diameters and depths of the tunnels.

지중에 매설된 박스구조물에 작용하는 토압 산정 (Estimation of Earth Pressures Acting on Box Structures Buried in Ground)

  • 개착식 터널공법으로 시공된 지하철 건설현장을 대상으로 각종 계측시스템을 적용하여 지하 박스구조물에 작용하는 토압을 측정하였다. 이를 토대로 기존 이론식으로 산정된 측방토압과 현장에서 계측된 실측토압을 비교 검토하고, 실제 지하구조물에 작용하는 토압분포를 조사하였다. 조사결과에 의하면 지하 박스구조물에 작용하는 연직토압은 주로 성토고에 큰 영향을 받고 있으며, 측방토압은 흙막이구조물(버팀보, 흙막이벽)의 존치여부에 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 현장에서 측정된 지하 박스구조물 상단에 작용하는 연직토압은 Bierbaumer의 이론토압에 가장 근사하게 나타나고 있으며, 측방토압은 정지토압보다 주동토압에 가깝게 작용하고 있다. 그리고, 토압계수는 토사층의 경우 평균 0.35정도로 나타났으며 연암층의 경우 평균 0.21정도로 토사층에서 크게 나타나고 있다. 따라서, 지하 박스구조물이 토사층에 설치되는 경우, 지하 박스구조물에 작용하는 측방토압은 정지토압보다는 주동토압과 정지토압의 평균치를, 암반층에 설치되는 경우에는 주동토압을 사용하는 것이 보다 합리적이라고 판단된다.

Characteristics of failure surfaces induced by embankments on soft ground

  • This paper investigates the development of failure surfaces induced by an embankment on soft marine clay deposits and the characteristics of such surfaces through numerical simulations and its comparative study with monitoring results. It is well known that the factor of safety of embankment slopes is closely related to the vertical loading, including the height of the embankment. That is, an increase in the embankment height reduces the factor of safety. However, few studies have examined the relationship between the lateral movement of soft soil beneath the embankment and the factor of safety. In addition, no study has investigated the distribution of the pore pressure coefficient B value along the failure surface. This paper conducts a continuum analysis using finite difference methods to characterize the development of failure surfaces during embankment construction on soft marine clay deposits. The results of the continuum analysis for failure surfaces, stress, displacement, and the factor of safety can be used for the management of embankment construction. In failure mechanism, it has been validated that a large shear displacement causes change of stress and pore pressure along the failure surface. In addition, the pore pressure coefficient B value decreases along the failure surface as the embankment height increases. This means that the rate of change in stress is higher than that in pore pressure.

절리암반내 터널라이닝 거동에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on behavior of tunnel in jointed rock mass)

  • 터널 주변지반에 다양한 형태로 존재하는 불연속면이 터널 라이닝의 거동에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해, 주절리의 각도와 지반의 측압조건을 변화시켜가면서 실내모형실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과, 터널라이닝에 발생하는 축력은 터널 주변지반에 존재하는 절리의 방향 및 위치에 따라 대체로 감소하는 경향을 나타내며, 이러한 경향은 측압계수가 증가함에 따라 더욱 두드러진 양상을 보이고 있다. 또한 절리각도에 따라 터널라이닝에 발생하는 최대변위와 최대응력의 발생위치가 달라지며, 절리의 영향으로 측압계수가 증가함에 따라 접선응력과 법선응력이 최대 20배 이상의 차이를 보이며, 전반적으로 터널 라이닝에는 인장응력이 집중되는 경향을 탄성이론을 통해 확인하였다.

합리적인 측압계수 결정을 위한 인공신경 전문가 시스템의 개발 (Development of an Artificial Neural Expert System for Rational Determination of Lateral Earth Pressure Coefficient)

  • 국내에서 계측된 92개의 측압계수를 이용하여 심도에 따른 측압계수의 경향을 분석하고 Hoek & Brown이 정의한 측압계수의 범위와 비교하였다. 국내의 측압계수는 1이상이 84%로 대부분의 경우 수평응력이 연직응력보다 크게 나타났다. 지반의 침식. 퇴적 및 암반 풍화. 횡압력에 의한 측압계수의 변화를 분석하기 위해 탄소성 이론을 적용하고 그 결과를 유한요소해석과 비교하였다. 측압계수는 지표 침식과 횡압력이 크고 암질이 양호할수록 증가하였고 퇴적의 경우에 감소하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 여러 지질작용이 측압계수에 미치는 영향을 파악할 수 있었고, 특히 지하공동의 굴착 심도인 천부 암반에서의 측압계수 변화를 파악할 수 있었다. 다층 역전파 학습 알고리즘을 적용한 인공신경망을 이용하여 측압계수 예측 전문가 시스템을 개발하였다. 학습률, 모멘텀 상수 그리고 은닉층 노드수를 고려하여 실측치와 상관계수 0.996 이상의 매우 높은 추론율을 보이는 모델을 선정하였다 학습에서 제외한 9개 계측자료로 이 모델을 검증한 결과, 추론오차의 평균은 20%였으며 상관계수도 0.95 이상으로 측압계수를 예측하는데 있어 높은 신뢰성을 보였다.
