  • We created a new design for an Nd-doped clad-pumped silica fiber laser to enhance the pump absorption and lasing efficiency for a butt-coupled, end-pumped scheme. Two concatenated adiabatic tapers formed within the laser cavity simultaneously removed higher order modes and were spliced to conventional single mode fibers. We theoretically analyzed mode propagation along the composite cavity and experimentally achieved continuous wave oscillation in the $LP_{01}$ mode at $1.06\;{\mu}m$ and a laser output power of over 820 mW with a slope efficiency of 27%.

  • Background and Objectives Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is used widely to promote hair growth in androgenetic alopecia (AGA). This study examined the clinical efficacy and safety of a home-use LLLT device with a newly designed array of light sources and software optimized for individual types of AGA. Materials and Methods The study was a randomized, double-blind, sham device-controlled trial. Forty-eight subjects (39 men and nine women) were assigned randomly in a 2:1 ratio to use either the test device (LG Pra'L HGN1, LG electronics, Korea) or sham device. The subjects used the LLLT device three times a week for 16 weeks. Phototrichogram was used to measure the hair density and hair thickness at 0, 8, and 16-weeks. Adverse events were closely monitored. Results After 16 weeks of using the device, the test group showed a significant increase in hair density and hair thickness compared to the control. In the test group, the hair density increased 6.96 counts/cm2 at eight weeks and 13.67 counts/cm2 at 16 weeks from the baseline. The hair thickness increased 7.21 ㎛ at eight weeks and 11.80 ㎛ at 16 weeks compared to the baseline. Conclusion The home-use LLLT device with a novel array of light sources and an individualized program according to the types of hair loss appears to be an effective and safe treatment modality for both male and female AGA patients.

  • Finishing process includes deburring, polishing and edge radiusing. It improves the surface profile of specimen and eliminates the alien substance on surface. Deburring is the elimination process for debris of edges. Polishing lubricates surfaces by rubbing or chemical treatment. There are two types for electron finishing. The one is using pulse beam. The other is using the convergent and scanning electron beam. Pulse type device appropriates the large area process. But it does not control the beam dosage. Scanning type device has advantages for dosage control and edge deburring. We design the convergence and scan type. It has magnetic lenses for convergence and scan device for scanning beam. Magnetic lenses consist of convergent and objective lens. The lenses are designed by the specification(beam size and working distance). In this paper, we evaluate the convergence performance by pattern process. Also, we analysis the results and important factors for process. The important factors for process are beam size, pressure, stage speed and vacuum. These results will be utilized into systematizing pattern shape and the factors.

  • Decapsulation technology is useful to inspect EMC of package device and the etching technology enable to check inside of device by removing plastic molding. Chemical etching method is used widely to fabricate a lot of semiconductor. But the method has some disadvantage due to wet process. Proposed method in this paper shows the application possibility such as fast processing time, processing accuracy and dry process. These result was obtained by directly removing of packed EMC using UV laser.

  • A fiber-coupled laser-diode pumped ceramic Nd:YAG laser for compensating the thermal tensing effect was developed. The thermal tensing effect was compensated using a convex lens, which was 25 mm away from the laser rod, with a focal length of 30 mm and an effective clear aperture of 22 mm. Without a compensator, the laser output power decreased suddenly above a pump power of 6 W. Using a compensator, the laser output power increased linearly according to the pump power. The beam propagation factor $M^{2}$ was 2.4 under a pump power of 12 W.

  • In this paper, we have designed and implemented an obstacle detecting device based laser radar. It is an alternative to solve through problem analysis of that are currently operated safety equipment and status research of domestic railway crossing. It is target to improve the safety and reliability of the rail traffic through effective obstacle detection at crossing account for a large proportion of train accidents. suggest a system to overcome the problems caused by aging and limitation of existing safety equipment. Design a crossing obstacle detection device that utilizes laser radar scanner, proved this through performance evaluation and testing of the prototype.

  • Head fixed type multi-focus display system using Galvano-scanner and DMD(Digital Micro-mirror Device), which is able to perfectly accommodate, can solve eye fatigue due to conflict between convergence eye movement and accommodation action in stereoscopic display. This system is able to accommodate through making convergence point about each view point and offering it in front of observer's pupil by using laser scanning method. In this paper, we analyzed laser scanning method of this multi-focus display system. And multi-focus display system based on this analysis was made, which showed that focus adjustment was possible through video camera. As a result, formation principle of view point of multi-focus system by laser scanning method was verified.

  • Semiconductor diode lasers that can generate one watt or more of optical energy for tens of milliseconds (quasi continuous wave) are now readily available. Several researchers have demonstrated that this power level, when properly coupled, can reliably initiate pyrotechnic mixtures. This means that the initiator containing the pyrotechnic can be protected against inadvertent initiation from electromagnetic radiation or electrostatic discharge by a conducting Faraday cage surrounding the explosive. Only a small dielectric window penetrates the housing of the initiator, thereby eliminating the conductors necessitated by a bridgewire electroexplosive device. The diode laser itself, however, functions at a low voltage (typically 3 volts) and hence is susceptible to inadvertent function from power supply short circuits, electrostatic discharge or induced RF energy. The rocket motor arm-fire device de-scribed in this paper uses a diode laser, but protects it from unintentional function with a Radio Frequency Attenuating Coupler (RFAC).The RFAC, invented by ML Aviation, a UK company, transfers power into a Faraday cage via magnetic flux, thereby protecting the diode, its drive circuit and the pyrotechnic from all electromagnetic and electrostatic hazards. The first production application of a diode laser and RFAC device was by the Korean Agency for Defense Development.
