The conventional non-dig underground structure building method which made an appearance to reduce the social and environmental costs and maximize the efficiency of the social overhead capital facilities could not help being uneconomical because of many problems such as unnecessary excessive excavation, water leakage, obstacle interference, difficulty of curvilinear application and connection complexity between propelled and injected bodies due to indiscriminate application of small and large circular steel pipes without consideration of the site conditions. The T.S.T.M, in which a protruded square tube is applied as a propulsion and injection body in a design that considered site conditions such as ground condition, depth of soil and live load, was able to be economical as it solved the problems of water resistance, minimization of obstacle interference and curvilinearity, and we can see that it can be applied to all grounds by utilizing or complementing the target ground in terms of engineering. Also in configuring the transverse section, it is possible to not only secure excellent structural safety but also implement all of the above engineering characteristics not only in the square cross section but also in the arch cross section, so it was possible to build structures on any section or ground, and we could confirm the LCC reduction effect and the VE effect.
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of the Inside end-taping (Inside-ET) and Outside end-taping (Outside-ET) treatments on prevention of drying defects during radiofrequency/vacuum (RF/V) drying domestic yellow poplar log cross section with size of 20~75 mm in thickness and 120~470 mm in diameter. The treatments of Inside-ET and Outside-ET were quite effective for producing sound log cross sections with thinner than 33 mm and smaller than 270 mm in diameter. Even the 60 mm- and 75 mm-thick log cross sections, if the diameter was smaller than 30 cm, it might expect preventing formation of border checks by appropriate end-taping treatments. The positions of the observed border checks differed in diameter ranging at a relative radius about 0.50~0.63 diameter, and it was estimated that it was necessary to select the border position of end-taping treatment properly according to the diameter of log cross sections. It was observed that the radius of 0.3 diameter was the critical location for pretreatment for preventing formation of border checks in the log cross section with middle diameter. There were severe border checks and V-shaped cracks in the log cross section with large diameter. This was because of the severe variation of moisture content along radial direction of natural characteristic of domestic yellow poplar.

Hydroforming is a forming process enabling circular metal tubes to be produced in complex cross sections along curved axial paths With the availability of advanced machine design and control They offer advantages over stamped sheet metal in lower tooling cost and structural mass The technology is relatively new so that there is no large knowledge base to assist the fundamentals of tube hydroforming technology. The purpose of this paper is found that adaptive bending condition and contact condition for bended part has uniform thickness distribution.

Membrane technology has been effectively used for many years in certain segments of industrial water treatment. Recent advances in combining sophisticated chemical pre-treatment technology with cross-flow membrane filtration technology have successfully demonstrated that highly efficient, low-cost methods for treating a large of industral streams are available.

Generally, a ${\pi}$-type girder composed of two I-type girders is known to have a significant disadvantage in wind resistance design because of aerodynamic instability. A representative bridge for this girder was Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Since Tacoma Narrows Bridge had very low stiffness of the bridge structure and its cross-section shape had aerodynamic instability, the bridge collapsed after severe torsion and vibration events in 19m/s wind speed. Aerodynamic vibration can be avoided by enhancing structural stiffness and damping factor and conducting a study of cross-section shapes. This study shows the angle of attack for the four-span cable stayed bridge having ${\pi}$-type cross-section and describes the aerodynamic characteristics of the changed cross-section with aerodynamic vibration damping additions, by carrying out two-dimension vibration tests. As a result of uniform flow and turbulent flow, the study shows that because the basic ${\pi}$-type cross-section alone can have efficient wind resistant stability, there is no need to have additional aerodynamic damping equipment. Since this four 230m-main-span bridge has a large frequency and also has a big stiffness compared to other bridges containing a similar cross-section, it has aerodynamic stability under the design wind speed.

Fused vertical directional coupler switches (FVCSs) with switching operation induced section (SOIS) and extinction ratio enhanced section (ERES) are proposed. In these FVCSs, switching operation is achieved by changing the refractive indices of both cores in SOIS and improvement of extinction ratios larger than 30dB for both cross and bar states is achieved by controlling the asymmetry of refractive indices between both cores in ERES. In addition, the design guidelines to have high extinction ratios larger than 30dB with large tolerances of the refractive index of cores are presented.

The influence of reinforcement buckling on the flexural response of reinforced concrete members is studied. The stress-strain response of compression reinforcement is determined computationally using a large-strain finite element model for bars of varied diameter, length, and initial eccentricity, and a mathematical expression is fitted to the simulation results. This relationship is used to represent the response of bars in compression in a moment-curvature analysis of a reinforced concrete cross section. The compression bar may carry more or less force than a tension bar at a corresponding strain, depending on the relative influence of Poisson effects and bar slenderness. Several cross-section analyses indicate that, for the distances between stirrups prescribed in modern concrete codes, the influence of inelastic buckling of the longitudinal reinforcement on the monotonic moment capacity is very small and can be neglected in many circumstances.

Modified structure of copper pillar bump which has trapezoidal cross section on the top region is suggested with simulation results and concept of fabrication process. Due to the large surface area of joint region between bump and solder in suggested structure, electro-migration effect can be reduced. Reduction of electro-migration is related with current density and joule heating in bump and investigated with finite element methods with variation of dimensional parameters. Mechanical characteristics are also investigated with comparing modified copper pillar bump and conventional copper pillar bump.
This paper describes an improved analysis method for sheath circulating current on three-underground transmission cables using EMTP(Electromagnetic Transient Program). Author studied diversely the sheath circulating current on three-underground cables depending on the various length rate, the phase arrangement, and the grounding resistance of the sheath in the cross-bonded section. It was clear that very large circulating current is generated in cable systems due to unbalanced length rate and phase arrangement in the cross-bonded section. The analysing method for two or more underground cables will be really Improved for cable system utility.
We examine whether country fundamentals help explain the cross-section of currency excess returns. For this purpose, we consider fundamental variables such as default risk, foreign exchange rate regime, capital control as well as interest rate in the multi-factor model framework. Our empirical results show that fundamental factors explain a large part of the cross-section of currency excess returns. The zero-intercept restriction of the factor model is not rejected for most currencies. They also reveal that our factor model with country fundamentals performs better than a factor model with usual investment-style factors. Our main empirical results are based on 2001-2010 balanced panel data of 19 major currencies. This paper may fill the gap between country fundamentals and practitioners' strategies on currency investment.
