  • In this study, in order to easily provide functional groups on the surface of carbon nanotubes, dual structural multiwalled carbon nanotubes which have crystalline graphite and turbostratic carbon wall were synthesized by modified vertical thermal decomposition method. Synthesized dual structural MWCNTs were characterized by FE-SEM, TGA, HR-TEM, Raman spectroscopy and BET specific surface area analyzer. The average innermost and outermost diameters of the synthesized nanotubes were around 45 and 75 nm, respectively. The large empty inner space and the presence of graphitic carbons on the surface may open potential applications for gas storage and collection of hazardous materials.

  • Two-step growth to incorporate the Mg atoms in the ZnO nanorods fabricate by thermal evaporation process and also utilized the ZnO film as a template. In the first step of low temperature, Zn seed metals with low melting temperature formed the droplet, and then MgZnO ternary nanorods were grown by injecting oxygen and evaporating Mg atoms in high temperature process of the second step. The vertical growth of the MgZnO nanorods with large-area distribution and uniformity was successfully performed on the ZnO template. We investigated the shape of the vertically grown 1-D MgZnO nanorods and characterized the optical and crystal properties. We confirmed the incorporation of Mg atoms by the EDS and PL spectrum.

  • Single phase La1-xSrxCoO3 (x≤0.2) was synthesized as a uniform sized 100 nm particulates with relatively high surface area of 20-30 m2/g, at low temperature (≥600 ℃), from a polymeric gel precursors prepared by using poly(vinyl alcohol) as homogenizer. No minor phase developed during the crystallization when polymer/metal mole ratio was higher than 3. As the polymer/metal mole ratio was raised in the gel, the amount of carbonaceous residues in the amorphous solid precursor prepared by heating the gel at 300 ℃ increased. Most of the residues were eliminated by exothermic thermal decomposition around 400 ℃. The amount of residual carbon (less than 1%) left in the crystalline La1-xSrxCoO3 decreased as more polymer was used, eliminating detrimental effect which might be posed by using large amount of organic homogenizer. The crystal structure of La1-xSrxCoO3 synthesized at temperature lower than 800 ℃ was observed to be shifted from rhombohedral to more symmetric cubic. The structure shifted back to rhombohedral as the cubic sample was annealed at 1000 ℃.

  • Gold nanostructures (Au NSs) are useful and interesting matrices for mass spectrometric analysis of various biomolecules based on organic matrix-free laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LDI-TOF-MS). Au NSs provide high efficiency and versatility in LDI-TOF-MS analysis based on their well-established synthesis and surface functionalization, large surface area, high laser absorption capacity, and photothermal conversion efficiency. Therefore, Au NSs based LDI-TOF-MS can be a facile, functional, and efficient analytical method for important small biomolecules owing to its simple preparation, rapid analysis, salt-tolerance, signal reproducibility, and quantitative analysis. This review chronologically summarizes the important advance of Au NSs-based LDI-TOF-MS platforms in terms of in-depth mechanism, signal enhancement, quantitative analysis, and disease diagnosis.

  • Here, we introduce porous graphene balls (PGB) showing superior electrochemical properties as supercapacitor electrode materials. PGB was fabricated via activation of graphene oxides (GO) by H2O2 and aerosol spray drying in series. Effect of activation on the morphology, specific surface area, pore volume, and electrochemical properties were investigated. As-prepared PGB showed spherical morphology containing pores, which lead to the effective prevention of restacking in graphene sheets. It also exhibited a large surface area, unique porous structures, and high electrical conductivity. The electrochemical properties of the PGB as electrode materials of supercapacitor are investigated by using aqueous KOH under symmetric two-electrode system. The highest specific capacitance of PGB was 279 F/g at 0.1 A/g. In addition, the high rate capability (93.8% retention) and long-term cycling stability (92.2%) of the PGB were found due to the facilitated ion mobility between the porous graphene layers.

  • Electroluminescence(EL) devices based on organic thin films have attracted lots of interests in large-area light-emitting display. Recently, many EL researcher have interested a new emissive organic material. In this study, light-emitting organic electroluminescent devices were fabricated using Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique with new emissive organic material. This new emissive organic material were synthesis by our teams and we called PECCP [poly(3,6-N-2ethylhexyl carbazoly cyanoterephthalidene)] which has strong electron donor group and electron acceptor group in main chain repeat unit. This material has good solubility in common organic solvent such as chloroform. THF, etc. and has a good stability in air. In here, the new emissive material is applied to Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) method because our new material has a good stability in air. Optimum conditions of film deposition were examined by a surface pressure-area( $\pi$ -A) isotherms with various factors. The LB film were deposited on a indium Tin Oxide(ITO) glass. We were investigated by measuring current-voltage(I-V) characteristics. Also we were measured the UV/visible absorption at about 410nm and PL spectrum at about 530nm. We are attempt to the electroluminescence device properties of the new emissive material by Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique.

  • The integration of GIS and fuzzy MCDA(Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis) allows the engineer to determine the preferred alternative for each spatial location in the study area. The next step is to recommend to the final decision makers a single flood management alternative for the entire region. Note that if the study area is large, it might be possible to use the kind of information to recommend different alternatives for different portions of the region. However, for this study it is assumed that only a single alternative will be used. In this study, a "cost of uniformity" metric is proposed that allows decision makers to compute the impact of selecting a single alternative for the entire floodplain. This metric represents the increase in the average distance metric value as compared to the spatially diverse solution from the MCDA and GIS analysis. The results could be applied to any region of the floodplain as desired. Whether the decision makers decide to apply these calculations to the entire floodplain or to specific important regions within the floodplain, an analysis of the increases in the cost of uniformity provides an integrated way for the decision maker to rank the alternatives. This should provide an improvement in their engineering analysis.

  • This study introduces a NaOH/Zn-assisted hydrothermal method for the synthesis of zeolites derived from coal ash (CA). A zeolite/Zn adsorbent is successfully prepared by the activation of CA with NaOH and Zn; it is characterized by a high surface area and a negative surface charge.Methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) are selected as dye pollutants, and their adsorption onto the zeolite/Zn adsorbent is investigated. Results show the high adsorption capacities of MB and MO and that the negative surface charge facilitates electrostatic interactions between the adsorbates and adsorbents. The zeolite/Zn adsorbents shows the selective adsorption of positively charged dye MB via electrostatic interactions between the =NH+ group (positive dipole) and the oxygen functional group of the adsorbents (negative dipole). The selectivity for the positively charged dye is sufficiently high, with the removal efficiency reaching 99.41% within 10 min. By contrast, the negatively charged dye MO exhibits negligible absorption. These findings confirm the role of electrostatic interactions in the adsorption of MB, in addition to the effect of a large surface area. The results of this study are expected to facilitate the development of simple, eco-friendly, and cost-effective zeolite-based adsorptive composites from CA residuals for the selective removal of dye pollutants from CA waste.
