  • The importance of new renewable energy is emphasized not only new growth engine but also the key solution for the exhaustion problem of fossil energy and environment problem. For the steady growth of new renewable energy industry, securing related labor force is an essential factor. In this study, the status on labor force of new renewable energy industry was identified and forecasted the labor force demand of new renewable energy in 2015 by reflecting the industrial growth outlook on the new renewable energy. For the quantitative analysis methodology, the stock approach of Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of the United States was applied. Also by performing survey on the experts, the opinions of experts on supply and demand of new renewable energy labor force or worker training programs have been gathered. As a result of study, it has been analyzed that nearly 20% annual growth rate will be shown as the labor force demand in the field of new renewable energy industry increases from 14,100 people in 2010 to 33,200 people in 2015. In the survey on experts, we could find that a plan for supplying labor force must be prepared promptly in order to accomplish new renewable energy supply objectives and industrial growth objectives by our country in the future as the supply of new renewable energy labor force is currently insufficient. Also, it has been analyzed that the effort for deciding the proper new renewable energy labor force training program standard will be necessary. This study result could be used as a material of labor force training plan for the steady growth of new renewable energy industry in the future.

  • We investigate the effect of ICT capital on the demands for labor and energy in manufacturing and electricity gas water industries of Korea, US, and UK. Assuming ICT capital, non-ICT capital, labor, electricity, fuel, and material as input factors for manufacturing and ICT capital, non-ICT capital, labor and energy material as input factors for electricity gas water industry, we estimate the Morishima elasticities of substitution. Considering the relative price changes of input factors, ICT capital has substituted labor in manufacturing and electricity water gas industries of the three countries. ICT capital has substituted both electricity and fuel in US and UK manufacturing. Although ICT capital has substituted electricity and fuel each other in Korean manufacturing, ICT capital is unlikely to decrease the demands for electricity and fuel when considering their relative price changes. ICT capital has substituted energy material in electricity gas water industries of the three countries.

  • For the purpose of estimating the operating cost for feed production, energy consumption, labor requirement, maintenance cost, and supplies and miscellaneous costs are analyzed and developed as mathematical models. Mathematical model for energy usage Consists of electrical energy, boiler fuel energy and vehicle fuel energy. The mathematil model for electrical energy usage for the swine and poultry feed mill and the complete pelleted feed mill are developed, based on the general model mill and the computer program for its design developed in Kansas State University (Park, 1982). Also, the boiler fuel energy consumption model and the vehicle fuel energy consumption model are developed by analyzing the boiler system and the vehicle operation in the warehouse. In order to develop a mathematical model for labor requirement, the data that Vosloh (1968, 1976) constructed for labor requirement in his model mill are used by assuming that his model mill is similar to this model, in terms of labor assignment standards. Maintenance and repair costs are obtained by assuming to be 5.5% of the total capital investment cost. Also, supplies and miscellaneous costs are estimated by using Vosloh's report and it is approximately 0.87 dollars per ton based on daily production.

  • Currently workmen take charge of the maintenance work of bridges. But the process of sealing cracks in damage bridge is dangerous, costly, and labor-intensive operation Labor turnover and training are increasing problems related to crack sealing crews, and as traffic volumes increase, crack sealing operations become increasingly disruptive to the general public. Automation crack sealing can reduce labor and road user costs, improve work quality and decrease worker exposure to bridge hazards. This research aims to develop an automated damage bridge crack sealing system and developing of algorithms for hybrid controlling.

  • An Automatic coking control system was developed to achieved substantial energy and labor savings through the stabilization and optimization of coke oven operation. With the aim of saving energy and labor, the coke department has been advanced automation and systematization. A typical examples of automation is Center Position Control System(CPCS) for coke oven. This system is proved effective in improvement of center position accuracy.

  • Protection agriculture is the essential choice for human to increase the efficiency of limited crop production area under harsh and changeable weather boundary conditions, extend growing season, maximize the crop yields, and then increase the sustainable income of the grower. The investment costs far greenhouses as well as labor and energy costs are much higher than for conventional plant production systems, so these can only be balanced by better crop yields, higher labor productivity, and higher energy efficiency. • The estimated decommissioning cost of nuclear research reactor is calculated by applying a unit cost factor-based engineering cost calculation method on which classification of decommissioning works fitted with the features and specifications of decommissioning objects and establishment of composition factors are based. Decommissioning cost of nuclear research reactor is composed of labor cost, equipment and materials cost. Labor cost of decommissioning costs in decommissioning works are calculated on the basis of working time consumed in decommissioning objects. In this paper, the unit cost factors and work difficulty factors which are needed to calculate the labor cost in estimating decommissioning cost of nuclear research reactor are derived and figured out.
