  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate dysmenorrhea in undergraduate students and its affecting factors. Method: The survey was conducted with 453 students at 4 nursing school in Seoul, Incheon, Chungcheongbuk and Jeollabuk Province. Data were collected from September to December 2013, and analyzed with SPSS Windows 21.0. Results: In a final model of hierarchial multiple regression, menarcheal age (${\beta}$=-0.13, p=.003), menstrual amount (${\beta}$=0.17, p=.001), stress (${\beta}$=0.18, p=.010) habit of sitting by crossing one's legs (${\beta}$=0.14, p=.003) were associated with dysmenorrhea in undergraduate students. These factors attributed to 12.0% of variance in the dysmenorrhea of undergraduate students. Conclusion: These results suggest that dysmenorrhea in undergraduate student could be influenced by habit of sitting by crossing one's legs as well as menstrual history and stress. Ultimately, intervention program including correct of cross-legged sitting postures can be effective for undergraduate students to alleviate dysmenorrhea.

Methods: First-year (undergraduate) students attending three nursing colleges were surveyed from November 24 through December 5, 2014; and data from 206 respondents were analyzed. For data analysis, multiple regression analysis was performed using the SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Results: The findings showed that age (p=.002), emotional intelligence (p<.001), and self-efficacy (p<.001) were significant variables that influenced first-year undergraduate nursing student adaptation to college life. Undergraduate nursing student adaptation was explained by self-efficacy (${\beta}=.327$, p<.001), emotional intelligence (${\beta}=.222$, p=.001), satisfaction with education in their academic major (${\beta}=-.217$, p<.001), and academic achievement (${\beta}=.136$, p=.018); and, the explanatory power of these variables was 41.2%. Conclusion: To facilitate undergraduate nursing student adaptation to college life prior to clinical practice, developing and apply programs to improve self-efficacy, emotional intelligence, satisfaction with education in their major, and academic achievement is deemed necessary.

  • This study proposes a means of guiding undergraduate research assistants programs in a more positive direction. This will be achieved by researching the reality of the programs operated in engineering departments for graduate school students and by analyzing the problems thereof. To achieve this objective, a literature study and research were conducted, which comprised of a survey on 204 graduate school students within the metropolitan area of Korea. The results of the study demonstrated that experience as an undergraduate research assistant has a positive influence on the adaptation to and life in graduate school. However, the role of the student and the level of salary varied depending on the role of the student, based on the capacity and support of individual professors. Thus, it is deemed that there will be a need for systematic program improvement and the development of a program that can provide significant academic activities, rather than simple experimental assistance.

Design: Questionnaire-based study Methods: This study conducted a survey of 350 undergraduate students attending two universities in cities B and C from March to April 2024. Out of a total of 350 questionnaires, 334 questionnaires were analyzed after excluding 16 questionnaires due to incomplete content. The questionnaire was revised and enhanced by the researchers and was supplemented through revision and verification by another occupational therapist as professor. Results: As a result of the study, significant differences in undergraduate students' positive attitudes toward the disabled were found to be gender and taking disability-related curriculum, while significant differences in negative attitudes were found to be gender, presence of a disabled person in the family, and religion. Gender, taking disability-related curriculum, and religion showed significant differences in neutral attitude, and in all areas, gender, taking disability-related subjects, having a family member with a disability, and religion showed significant differences. Conclusions: Factors that influence undergraduate students' attitudes toward person with disabilities include gender, whether or not they take disability-related curriculum, whether a family member is disabled, and religion. As our society's policies and perceptions of person with disabilities are rapidly changing, in order to improve our society's attitude and awareness of disabilities, we need to provide students with a correct understanding of disabilities and develop positive attitudes through positive experiences about disabilities. Educational programs should be provided.

To achieve the research objective, both quantitative and qualitative studies were conducted. For the qualitative study, the student's productions and reflections on the experience of the application of the DT into educational problems were analyzed. For the quantitative research, one-group pre and post-test were designed to validate the effectiveness of the DT method into educational contexts in terms of creativity level to measure the student's Creativity Potential and Practiced Creativity, Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, and Problem-Solving Inventory. This study validated that the DT method had a statistically significant influence on those three competencies and also illustrated the detailed process from a qualitative viewpoint. The results and implications reflect the potential of the DT approach with the educational problem of practice, especially, in the ill-structured problem-solving contexts for student-centered instructional setting.
