객체지향 데이터베이스를 이용한 지식베이스 모형(OOKS) 개발 (Development of OOKS : a Knowledge Base Model Using an Object-Oriented Database)

  • Building a knowledge base effectively has been an important research area in the expert systems field. A variety of approaches have been studied including rules, semantic networks, and frames to represent the knowledge base for expert systems. As the size and complexity of the knowledge base get larger and more complicated, the integration of knowledge based with database technology cecomes more important to process the large amount of data. However, relational database management systems show many limitations in handing the complicated human knowledge due to its simple two dimensional table structure. In this paper, we propose Object-Oriented Knowledge Store (OOKS), a knowledge base model on the basis of a frame sturcture using an object-oriented database. In the proposed model, managing rules for inferencing and facts about objects in one uniform structure, knowledge and data can be tightly coupled and the performance of reasoning can be improved. For building a knowledge base, a knowledge script file representing rules and facts is used and the script file is transferred into a frame structure in database systems. Specifically, designing a frame structure in the database model as it is, it can facilitate management and utilization of knowledge in expert systems. To test the appropriateness of the proposed knowledge base model, a prototype system has been developed using a commercial ODBMS called ObjectStore and C++ programming language.

  • 1990년 중반부터 지식(Knowledge)은 국가 및 기업 경쟁력의 원천으로 부상하고 있으며, 건설기업의 공정관리는 건설기업의 핵심 역량 중의 하나이다. 그러나 국내 건설기업은 공정관리에 대한 지식을 체계적으로 저장, 활용하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 국내 건설기업의 공정관리 지식기반화에 대한 수준은 공정관리 지식기반 인프라 구축 단계에 머물러 있으며, 상위 건설기업 조차도 공정관리 지식 활동 단계의 초기 수준에 머물러 있다. 이는 공정관리 지식의 중요성에 대한 인식 부재, 관련 절차의 부재가 원인이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 건설기업의 공정관리 지식기반화의 문제점을 분석한 후, 건설기업 차원에서 현행 공정관리 표준 절차서의 내용에 공정관리 지식기반 인프라 요소와 공정관리 지식 활동 요소를 보안할 수 있는 공정관리 지식기반화를 위한 공정관리 절차서 모델을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과물인 공정관리 지식기반화를 위한 절차서 모델을 통해, 국내 건설기업이 공정관리 지식 활동의 절차를 마련할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고, 추후 국내 건설기업의 건설통합시스템 및 KMS(Knowledge Management System)과의 연계를 위한 공정관리 지식 기반의 구축의 틀을 마련하고자 한다.

  • 정보 기술 분야의 지능화 요구는 매우 빠르게 증가하고 있다. 특히 대량의 데이터로부터 지식을 찾아내어 최적의 의사결정을 해야하는 KDD(Knowledge Discovery in Database)분야에서는 그 요구가 더욱 더 크게 된다. 지능화된 의사결정을 위해서는 대용량 지식 베이스(Knowledge Base)의 효율적인 관리가 무엇보다도 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 지식 베이스로부터 의사결정 관리에 필요한 지식을 얻기 위해 효율적으로 지식 베이스를 검색하고 갱신하는 관리 방법을 위해 자율학습 신경망인 자기조직화 지도에 확률적 분포 이론을 결합한 하이브리드(Hybrid) SOM을 제안한다. 제안 방법을 이용한 효율적 지식 베이스의 관리를 시뮬레이션 실험을 통하여 수행하였다. 실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안하는 Hybrid SOM이 지식 베이스 관리에 효율적인 성능을 나타냄이 증명되었다.

A knowledge Conversion Tool for Expert Systems

  • Most of expert systems use the text-oriented knowledge bases. However, knowledge management using the knowledge bases is considered as a huge burden to the knowledge workers because it includes some troublesome works. It includes chasing and/or checking activities on Consistency, Redundancy, Circulation, and Refinement of the knowledge. In those cases, we consider that they could reduce the burdens by using relational database management systems-based knowledge management infrastructure and convert the knowledge into one of easy forms human can understand. Furthermore they could concentrate on the knowledge itself with the support of the systems. To meet the expectations, in this study, we have tried to develop a general-purposed knowledge conversion tool for expert systems. Especially, this study is focused on the knowledge conversions among text-oriented knowledge base, relational database knowledge base, and decision tree.

외부지식활용 혁신성과를 위한 지식베이스의 활용과 조건 (Utilization of Knowledge Base and Its Requisites for the Performance of Innovation Using External Knowledge)

  • Many prior researchers have repeatedly emphasized the importance of utilizing external knowledge as a critical factor for the success of organizational innovation. But they seem to have ignored the importance of the practical methods to advance the ability of finding new way of applying external knowledge to innovation activities. This paper suggests the exploitation of firm's knowledge base in innovative way as a practical method to utilize external knowledge for organizational innovation, because it could be possible to find out a common factor in external knowledge with organizational knowledge base by exploiting it. According to the empirical test with data of 1,143 manufacturing firms, all of the hypothesis were strongly supported.

  • Grinding is considered as a very effective machining technology to attain high production rates and a good surface quality of hard and brittle components. However, the grinding operations till needs the skill and the experience of an operator because of a lack of scientific knowledge and engineering principles. This is the reason why grinding operations are not completley intergrated in CIMS(Computer Intergrated Manufacturing System. Recent develop- ment focus on expert system which deals with domain specific knowledge in order to solve this problem. Firstly, in this study, a basic strategy to develop the grinding knowledge-base for grinding is discussed. Next, the architecture of knowledge-base and management of the grinding knowledge-base(GKB) is described.

Fuzzy Inference in RDB using Fuzzy Classification and Fuzzy Inference Rules

  • In this paper, a framework for implementing UFIS (Unified Fuzzy rule-based knowledge Inference System) is presented. First, fuzzy clustering and fuzzy rules deal with the presence of the knowledge in DB (DataBase) and its value is presented with a value between 0 and 1. Second, RDB (Relational DB) and SQL queries provide more flexible functionality fur knowledge management than the conventional non-fuzzy knowledge management systems. Therefore, the obtained fuzzy rules offer the user additional information to be added to the query with the purpose of guiding the search and improving the retrieval in knowledge base and/ or rule base. The framework can be used as DM (Data Mining) and ES (Expert Systems) development and easily integrated with conventional KMS (Knowledge Management Systems) and ES.

  • This study proposes the knowledge discovery process for the effective mining of knowledge on the web. The proposed knowledge discovery process uses the Prior knowledge base and the Prior knowledge management system to reflect tacit knowledge in addition to explicit knowledge. The prior knowledge management system constructs the prior knowledge base using a fuzzy cognitive map, and defines information to be extracted from the web. In addition, it transforms the extracted information into the form being handled in mining process. Experiments using case-based reasoning and neural network" are performed to verify the usefulness of the proposed model. The experimental results are encouraging and prove the usefulness of the proposed model.

  • Through a series of precise text handling processes, including automatic extraction of information from documents with knowledge from various fields, recognition of entity names, detection of core topics, analysis of the relations between the extracted information and topics, and automatic inference of new knowledge, the most efficient knowledge base of the relevant field is created, and plans to apply these to the information knowledge management and service are the core requirements necessary for intellectualization of information. In this paper, the knowledge base, which is a necessary core resource and comprehensive technology for intellectualization of science and technology information, is described and the usability of academic information services using it is evaluated. The knowledge base proposed in this article is an amalgamation of information expression and knowledge storage, composed of identifying code systems from terms to documents, by integrating terminologies, word intelligent networks, topic networks, classification systems, and authority data.

  • 개념기반 정보검색기법은 불리언 검색기법의 문제점을 해소했다고 평가받고 있는 단순 매칭함수 기법이나 P-norm 검색기법보다 높은 성능을 보여주고 있다. 그러나 개념화장에 필수적인 의미망 지식베이스를 구축하는데 시간이 너무 오래 걸리는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 주제범주별로 지식베이스를 분산 구축함으로써 지식베이스 구축에 소요되는 시간을 단축하면서도 검색성능이 떨어지지 않도록 하는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다.
