A Novel Double-Loop Vector Control Strategy for PMSMs Based on Kinetic Energy Feedback

  • A novel vector control strategy for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) based on the kinetic energy stored in the rotor is proposed in this paper. The novel strategy is composed of two closed loops, in which the current loop is the inner loop, and the kinetic energy serves as the outer loop. The theoretical basis and the design procedure of the two loops are given. The feasibility of the proposed control strategy is verified by experimental results. When compared with traditional vector control strategies, the proposed vector control strategy based on energy feedback has better dynamic performance. In addition, an effective estimation solution for the load variation is put forward.

A Study on the Linetic Energy of the Laser-Ablated Cation Using Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry

  • The initial kinetic energy of laser-ablated Zn cation has been investigated via time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The flight times of the ions have been measured with a high voltage pulse on the extract electrode in the mass spectrometer, which has been delayed from the laser pulse. The time-of-flight equation including the initial kinetic energy term of the ion has been derived for the mass spectrometer. The optimum value of the initial kinetic energy has been extracted by fitting the measured flight times into the time-of-flight equation. The initial kinetic energy of the ions generated by Nd:YAG laser (532 nm) at the power density of 5 × 107 W/cm2 has been determined to be 22-44 kJ/mol.

  • A simple pendulum shows how efficient gravity is in recovering energy. Any transportation is a linearly oscillating system; every load gains kinetic energy, but loses the same to come to a stop. The Gravity Power Towers comprise of a set of vertically moving heavy masses coupled, through microprocessor controlled continuously variable gear and cable system, to a horizontally rolling unit on wheels either on rail or road. The heavy masses move vertically up against gravity gaining potential energy while stopping a moving mass; move down under gravity force, giving out energy. The Tower thus accelerates or sustains the speed a rolling unit, and while decelerating, recover the kinetic energy. Speeds of 360 kmph can be attained. Recovery of energy varies from 98.5-70%; the longer the distance between stops, the lesser is recovery. The economical, omnipresent & eternal Gravity Power grants energy independence to many a nation. Global warming reduces.

  • An accumulator in hydraulic systems stores kinetic energy during braking action, and then that controls hasty surge pressure. An energy recovery system using accumulator seems to be advantageous for ERBS due to its high energy density. This study suggests a method to decide suitable accumulator volume for ERBS. The method is based upon energy conservation between kinetic energy of moving inertia and elastic energy of accumulator. The energy conversion was analyzed and a simple formula was derived. Also accumulator tests were conducted for different load mass and motor speed. A series of test work were carried out in the laboratory and the dynamic characteristics of the hydraulic motor system, such as the surge pressure and response time, were investigated in both brake action and acceleration action and these results show that the proposed design is effective for decision accumulator volume in ERBS.

운동에너지탄용 복합재 이탈피의 제조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication of the Composite Sabot for a Kinetic Energy Projectile)

  • In order to substitute current aluminum sabot and to increase the penetration performance of the kinetic energy projectiles, the research and development program for composites sabot has been conducted. For carbon/epoxy composites sabot, unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced epoxy prepreg was chosen and thick sectioned composites preforms with the different fiber angles along the circumferential direction of sabot were prepared by compression molding under the careful processing conditions at $150^{\circ}C$ for 1hour with $70kgf/cm^2$ curing pressure. The composites sabot demonstrated a weight reduction by approximately 30% than that of current aluminum sabot. The muzzle velocity of a kinetic energy projectile with composites sabot was measured to be about 63m/s higher than that with aluminum sabot. These results imply that the penetration performance is expected to be considerably increased when the composite sabot is applied to the kinetic energy projectiles.

Energy Sustainability of an Integrative Kinetic Light Shelf Unit

  • Purpose: Suggesting a working prototype of a kinetic light shelf unit and revealing its energy efficiency by a series of building performance simulations were presented. Recently, kinetic building envelope has been an emerging technology as an innovative way to control exterior building environment, but products from many researches about the facade could not been reached to the industrialization so far. That is because its initial installation, operation and maintenance costs are still too high to use for the practical field, although buildings using kinetic envelopes could decrease their energy consumption significantly. This narrow point of view needs to be reconsidered, since buildings require great amount of energies to run their functions through the whole life and using better building components can lead to achieve much more benefits in aspects of the lifecycle cost (LCC). Method: A series of certified simulation tools like Ecotect and Green Building Studio that are normally used for researches and developments in the field of architecture were utilized. Result: Based on simulation analyses, the result of the study has showed that the proposed system definitely has adaptability to the professions and positively shows practicability as advanced integrative building envelopes with renewable energy association.

강우입자분포를 고려한 시강우의 강우에너지 산정 연구 (Estimation of the Kinetic Energy of Raindrops for Hourly Rainfall Considering the Rainfall Particle Distribution)

  • 우리나라에서 발생하는 대부분의 토양침식은 물에 의한 토양침식이며 강우와 밀접한 관계를 가진다. 강우로부터 발생하는 토양침식은 토지자원의 손실을 발생시키고 이후 하천에 유입되고 퇴적되어 하천수자원의 관리 및 이용에 많은 어려움을 주고 있다. 최근 기후변화의 영향으로 우리나라에서는 30mm/hr 이상의 집중호우의 발생횟수가 증가하고 있어 단기간에 토양침식이 발생할 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 강우의 물리적인 특성을 고려하기 위하여 누적분포함수를 이용하여 강우강도별 강우입자의 분포를 추정하고 단일 호우사상이 가지는 강우에너지를 계산하는 방법을 제안하고자 하였다. 강우에너지 산정공식을 개발하기 위하여 강우강도 0.254~152.4mm/hr에서 측정된 강우입자 자료를 이용하였다. 누적분포함수를 적용하여 산정된 강우에너지는 강우강도의 관계에서 멱함수형태로 증가하는 경향으로 나타났으며, 이 관계로 얻어진 식을 바탕으로 1~80mm/hr 강우강도의 강우 운동에너지를 산정한 결과 $0.03{\sim}48.26Jm^{-2}mm^{-1}$로 나타났다. 강우강도와 강우에너지의 관계를 바탕으로 강우에너지 식을 멱함수로 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제안된 공식은 한시적으로 설치하는 침사지와 같은 시설물의 규모를 결정하는 계획의 토양침식량을 예측에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • A kinetic model for the oxidation of a $UO_2$ pellet to $U_3O_8$ powder has been suggested by considering the mass transfer and the diffusion of oxygen molecules. The kinetic parameters were estimated by a fitting of the experimental data. The activation energies for the chemical reaction and the product layer diffusion were calculated from the kinetic model. The oxidation conversion of a $UO_2$ pellet was simulated at various operating conditions. The suggested model explains the oxidation behavior of $UO_2$ well.
