A Study for Building Service Quality Information System(SQIS) (서비스품질 정보시스템(SQIS) 설계에 관한 연구)

  • As service firms continue to seek unique sources of sustainable competitive advantage, service quality has been discussed as a potential alternative to traditional skills and sources. The information of customers is generally believed to be a key component in creating corporate responsiveness to customer requests. In order to develop and maintain long-term close relationships with customers(CRM), service firms need to build an effective and ongoing service quality information system(SQIS). Service firms that formally collect customer-related information and internal service quality information were to be more responsive. The purpose of the present study is twofold. 1. How to nicely get the information on the service quality. 2. How to build a SQIS. One of numerous examples from financial service-sector firms is given to show that SQIS can be developed to improve service quality. This paper investigates SQIS of a Korean commercial bank as an example. Implications and strategies for building an effective SQIS for financial service-sector firms are discussed, and directions for future research are indicated.

Observability, Job-Match, and Segmentation of Labor Markets

  • Much of the dual labor markets literature is devoted to exploring the reasons as th why the markets are segmented along the lines where the observed wage differentials are not a result of underlying skill differentials . ; and why otherwise comparable workers different the duration of their job tenure and incidence of unemployment. the logic of competitive economics denies the possibility of equally skilled workers being treated differently in labor markets. The model presented in this paper shows that workers could be segregated quite simply due to the structure of information and job-match quality, even though they are the same in terms of productivity. In general, the model predicts that observability of a worker's productivity and the extent of match specificity are key features of labor market segmentation. An important implication is that the negative from the past labor market experienes, sometimes called as hysteresis effect, helps to restrict mobility of workers among different sectors and results in perpetuation of unemployment in the secondary sector. The model also provides an explanation of the efficient wage scheme in the primary sector.

  • This paper tries to a n.0, pply the concept and process of marketing which have been developed in profit sector to library management. Since the end of 60's certain marketing researchers, among them Kotler, Levy, and Shapiro have advanced the theseses that marketing is not just a business organization as well. Recently libraries have been interested in markeing also. Marketing is a concept of sensitively serving and satisfying human needs through voluntary exchanges of value. Library is a value exchange system in which library service is exchanged with community's patronage. In order for library user to involve in the value exchange system voluntarily, library should analyze user's needs and offer products satisfying the needs. For doing this, library should understand marketing. In this paper, author introduces the marketing concepts and process, tries to show how to a n.0, pply the key concepts and process to public library management. The needs of marketing in library sector, the effectiveness and barriers in a n.0, pplying marketing to library also discussed.

  • Defense R&D is an essential investment for the national security. Recently our nation has also begun to initiate a number of defense R&D projects. As a lot of fund and resources are allocated to these projects, we need to identify which projects to initiate and then how to manage these projects well. Though there have been a number of studies on R&D projects in commercial sector, there are only a few studies in defense R&D sector. Moreover, these existing defense R&D studies mainly deal with the former issues, which are occurring at the stage of project planing. We are more concerned with project management issues, such as how to manage projects that had already been evaluated to undertake at the planning stage. Specifically our study aims to identify project management factors leading to the success of defense R&D projects. Results of the empirical analysis indicate that management support, user-driven requirements management, and project planning capability are key elements for project performance.

The Implementation of a Quality System in the Care Sector for Elderly and Handicapped People: A Swedish Case Study

  • This paper presents the empirical research results conducted in a Swedish care organization for elderly and handicapped. The objective of the research was to empirically assess the implementation and practices of a quality system (ISO 9000) from an organizational change and development perspective. The empirical data were collected through multiple methods; interviews were carried out with key-persons and leadership in the organisation and surveys were conducted to all employees. Interactive methods have been applied to various groups in the organisations e.g., directors, supervisors, and the leadership of the quality project and the local politicians. The empirical findings indicate, among others, that the implementation processes were received and perceived differently in the different parts of the care organisation due to different leadership strategies and employee involvement policies. Other critical factors such as acceptance, resistance, motivation, commitment, the role of leadership, learning possibility, etc. have also been investigated, analysed and discussed. Finally some recommendations on how to approach organisational change as well as strategies for implementing a quality system in the care sector are presented.

  • The wave of the 4th Industrial Revolution was announced by Schwab Klaus at the 2016 World Economic Forum in Davos, and prospects and measures with the future society in mind have been put in place. With the launch of the Moon Jae-in administration in May 2017, Korea has shifted all of its interest to Big Data, which is one of the most important features of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In this regard, this study focuses on the role of the public sector, explores related issues, and identifies an agenda for determining the demand for ways to foster Big Data ecosystem, from an objective perspective. Furthermore, this study seeks to establish priorities for key Big Data issues from various areas based on importance and urgency using a Delphi analysis. It also specifies the agenda by which Korea should exert national and social efforts based on these priorities in order to demonstrate the role of the public sector in reinforcing the Big Data ecosystem.

A Single Identity while Facing Diversity? Exploring ASEAN Integration through Culture

  • Since the creation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 1967, the main objective of creating a "prosperous and peaceful community of Southeast Asian Nations" through regional integration remains slow. While the aims and purposes of the ASEAN include accelerating, promoting active collaboration and mutual assistance on matters concerning culture and cultural development, the desired ASEAN Integration through culture is still in question. As a multicultural region, the richness and diversity of cultures constitute both prospects and challenges. This paper discusses 1) the concept of integration vis-a-vis the ASEAN; 2) the ASEAN's goals, policies, and initiatives, concerning culture as stipulated in the key documents of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community-Culture and Arts sector; and 3) the ASEAN identity and community vis-a-vis culture. In the end, this paper proposes a framework on the ASEAN integration through culture in the context of a single identity amidst cultural diversity.

  • This paper focuses on construction cost volatility for the purpose of private sector investment by use of a financial model with key indices of IRR and DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio). A case project, 1,000 MW pumped storage hydropower plant, has shown that its financial impacts by cost volatility of underground works are less measured than interest rates impacts by interest rate of loans. Probabilistic analysis of costs under geotechnical conditions has been made by Indicator Kriging method. And, in the modeling of interest rates, geometric Brownian motion has been applied. Both of these impacts are measured on the same financial model.

APPROACHING A LINEAR PROGRAMMING MODEL FOR PRODUCTION PLANNING OF A READY-MADE GARMENTS INDUSTRY

  • The ready-made garments (RMG) have been making a crucial contribution about of 81% of total export and 12.36 % of total GDP of the country which is now the single biggest export earner for Bangladesh. The cheap production cost is the key important factor to explore this RMG sector. But these RMG sector is running on the basis of intuition based decisions. Though they are making profit it is not optimal. In this study, a deterministic model is developed to help the RMG to minimize the production cost and to maximize their profit along with optimal utilization of available resources. 10 different types of products are taken from one of the garments factories of Gazipur, Dhaka to prepare this research work. This model suggests the manufacturer on which products along with how much should be produced to meet the future demand by maintaining the lowest production cost that ultimately maximize the profit of the organization, and also helps Bangladesh to compete in the international market with 'Made in Bangladesh'. LINDO programming is used here to solve this LP model.
