소형 식물·미생물 정화조 시스템 개발을 위한 기초 실험 (A Basic Experiment for a Small Sewage Treatment System Using Aquatic Plants and Microbes)

  • The rate of sewage treatment in South Korea was 68% in the late 1999. Sewage treatment is mostly made near big cities such as Seoul and Busan, and it is little in rural areas. Wastewater from households goes to streams directly without treatment in rural areas and pollutes streams. It is necessary to improve the progress for treatment of nutrients such as N and P which cause eutrophication in streams and lakes, because sewage treatment system in South Korea focuses on treatment of basic organic matters. Therefore it will contribute to improve discharged water quality if small sewage treatment systems by aquatic plants and microbes are introduced to rural areas where are not connected to local sewage treatment facility. This experiment was conducted to find out the best way using aquatic plants and microbes to purify wastewater from households through individual sewage treatment system. Phragmites communis, Iris pseudoacorus, Acorus calamus var. angustatus, Typha orientalis and Oenanthe javanica were used for this experiment. BOD, COD, SS, T-N and T-P were analyzed following standard methods for wastewater. The result shows that wastewater was roughly purified through pebbles and sands, and highly purified through aquatic plants and microbes especially in T-N and T-P. Iris pseudoacorus is the most effective in reduction of COD and BOD level. This system will work even in winter when plants die because microbes will be still working.

  • FFT(Fast Fourier Transform)는 IEEE 802.22와 같은 여러 무선표준에서 사용되는 OFDM 시스템의 주요 블록 중 하나이다. FFT의 전력소모 감소, 면적감소, 고속동작을 위해 새로운 FFT 아키텍처 개발, twiddle factor 곱셈을 위한 곱셈기의 수나 면적감소, 제어회로의 단순화 등에 초점을 둔 FFT 프로세서의 구현에 관한 연구가 지속적으로 진행되어왔다. FFT의 입력포인트 수 N이 증가함에 따라 $log_2N$ 개의 각 FFT 스테이지 구현에 사용되는 시프트레지스터(또는, 페모리)가 차지하는 비중이 전체 FFT회로의 70%이상이 되며 이러한 메모리들은 FFT의 처음 두 스테이지에 집중되어 두 스테이지의 메모리가 전체 메모리의 75%를 차지한다. 본 논문에서는 OFDM 송신부의 IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform)에서 요구되는 메모리 사이즈를 감소시키기 위해 입력변조신호, 파일럿(pilot)신호, 널(null) 신호의 mapping을 IFFT와 결합하는 새로운 기법을 제안한다. Cognitive radio 시스템에 적용하기 위한 2048포인트 IFFT를 제안한 방법으로 설계하고 메모리가 차지하는 면적에서 기존의 방법과 비교하여 38.5%이상의 이득을 가짐을 보인다.

GENERALIZED EULER PROCESS FOR SYSTEMS OF NONLINEAR DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

  • Euler method is generalized to solve the system of nonlinear differential equations. The generalization is carried out by taking a special constant matrix S so that exp(tS) can be exactly computed. Such a matrix S is extracted from the Jacobian matrix of the given problem. Stability of the generalized Euler process is discussed. It is shown that the generalized Euler process is comparable to the fourth order Runge-Kutta method. We also exemplify that the important qualitative and geometric features of the underlying dynamical system can be recovered by the generalized Euler process.

  • A mechanical-hydraulic hitch control system has been adapted to most agricultural tractors. But it has various defects due to friction, inertia and hysteresis. Recently a number of electronic-hydraulic hitch control systems have been developed in several countries to improve control performance of the agricultural tractors equipped with a mechanical-hydraulic hitch control system. This study was conducted to develop a new electronic-hydraulic hitch control system using an electro-hydraulic servo valve instead of an on-off valve and to carry out computer simulation of the system. According to the result of computer simulation, the control system showed the best performance when the proportional constants were 9 and 4 for position and draft control respectively. The step and frequency responses were improved as flow rate increased.

벼 직파용 정밀 배종장치 개발 (Development of a Precision Seed Metering Device for Direct Seeding of Rice)

  • In order to save labor and cost, direct seeding has been considered as an important alternative to the machine transplanting in rice cultivation. As current seeders for direct seeding of rice seeds drill irregular amount of seeds under various operating conditions, conventional drilling should be turned to precision planting which enables accurate placement of proper amount of rice seeds at equal intervals within rows. In this study, design, construction and performance evaluation of a precision seed metering device for planting of rice seeds were carried out. As prototype, the conventional roller type seed metering device was modified for planting: increasing diameter of metering roller, setting 2 or 4 seed cells on metering roller, adding seed discharging lid and its driving cam mechanism. Through performance tests for prototype and the current seed metering device, number of seeds in a hill, planting space and its error ratio, coefficient of variation of planting space (planting accuracy), and seeding length of $90\%$ of seeds in a hill divided by planting space (planting precision) at setting planting spaces of 15, and 20cm, seeding heights of 10, and 20cm, and seeding speeds of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.5m/s were investigated. Prototype showed better seed planting performance than the current seed metering devices. When setting planting space of 15 cm and seeding height of 10cm, prototype with 2 seed cells showed that variations of planting space and seeding lengths of $90\%$ of seeds in a hill at up to seeding speed of 0.5m/s were within 0.9cm, and 3.6cm, respectively.

  • This study is aimed to predict the behaviour of channel shear connectors in composite floor systems at different temperatures. For this purpose, a soft computing approach is adopted. Two novel intelligence methods, including an Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) and a Genetic Programming (GP), are developed. In order to generate the required data for the intelligence methods, several push-out tests were conducted on various channel connectors at different temperatures. The dimension of the channel connectors, temperature, and slip are considered as the inputs of the models, and the strength of the connector is predicted as the output. Next, the performance of the ELM and GP is evaluated by developing an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). Finally, the performance of the ELM, GP, and ANN is compared with each other. Results show that ELM is capable of achieving superior performance indices in comparison with GP and ANN in the case of load prediction. Also, it is found that ELM is not only a very fast algorithm but also a more reliable model.

한반도 남동 연안내만 입자유기물질의 시$\cdot$공간 변동 특성 (Temporal and Spatial Variations of Particulate Organic Matter in the Southeastern Coastal Bays of Korea)

  • 한반도 남해 내만역에서 계절별로 4회에 걸친 입자유기물질 농도분포를 조사한 결과 입자유기물질은 대체로 봄철과 여름철 농도가 가을과 겨울철에 비해 비교적 높다는 것을 나타내었다. 입자유기물질 농도가 높은 봄과 여름철 C : Chl a나 C . N비는 해양의 식물플랑크톤의 전형적인 비값들을 나타내고 Chl a농도 역시 이기간 중에 높게 나타나 이들 내만역에서 입자유기물질 계절 변동은 식물플랑크톤 생물량과 밀접한 상관을 갖는다는 것을 보였다. 조사 해역별 입자유기물질 성분의 농도 분포는 진해만에서 고성만과 강진만에 비해서 높은 농도를 나타내었는데, 다른 해역에 비해서 진해만에서 높은 Chl a: PPr-N비 값들은 진해만이 다른 내만역들 보다 더욱 부영양화 되었다는 것을 나타내어 부영양화 수준에 따른 식물플랑크톤 생산력이 각 내만역 사이 입자유기물질 농도의 공간적 차이를 결정하는 중요한 요인이라는 것을 시사했다. 각 내만역 내에서 입자유기물질 수평농도 분포는 소규모 내만역내에서도 공간적으로 큰 농도차를 보일 수 친다는 것을 나타내었는데, 대도시에 인접한 수역에서 높은 입자유기물질 농도와 높은 식물플랑크톤 기여는 이들 도시로부터 다량의 영양염 유입을 시사하였고, 양식장이 밀집한 수역에서 상대적으로 낮은 입자유기 물질 농도는 양식생물의 높은 섭이활동을 반영하는 것으로 고려되었다. 식물플랑크톤 성장 제한 영양염은 계절별로 각 내만역내에서 입자유기물질 C : N : P 원소 변동비로부터 평가되었는데, 진해만과 고성만에서 Redfield비와 일치하는 C : N 변동비 (6.6)는 이 해역의 입자유기물질이 식물플랑크톤에서 유래하고 있다는 것을 나타내었던 반면, 강진만에서는 5.0의 다소 낮은 C : N비를 보였다. 진해만과 고성만에서 여름철 18.2와 24.6의 높은 N : P 변동비는 인산염이 이 해역들의 식물플랑크톤 성장을 제한할 수 있는 것으로 나타나지만 봄철 10.8과 14.7의 낮은 비값은 오히려 질소계 영양염에 의한 제한을 시사한 반면, 강진만에서 N : P 변동비는 $6.3\~12.8$로 조사기간 모두 질소계 영양염이 제한 영양염으로 작용한다는 것을 시사하였다.

Genetic Function Approximation and Bayesian Models for the Discovery of Future HDAC8 Inhibitors

  • Background: Histone deacetylase (HDAC) 8 is one of its family members catalyzes the removal of acetyl groups from N-terminal lysine residues of histone proteins thereby restricts transcription factors from being expressed. Inhibition of HDAC8 has become an emerging and effective anti-cancer therapy for various cancers. Application computational methodologies may result in identifying the key components that can be used in developing future potent HDAC8 inhibitors. Results: Facilitating the discovery of novel and potential chemical scaffolds as starting points in the future HDAC8 inhibitor design, quantitative structure-activity relationship models were generated with 30 training set compounds using genetic function approximation (GFA) and Bayesian algorithms. Six GFA models were selected based on the significant statistical parameters calculated during model development. A Bayesian model using fingerprints was developed with a receiver operating characteristic curve cross-validation value of 0.902. An external test set of 54 diverse compounds was used in validating the models. Conclusions: Finally two out of six models based on their predictive ability over the test set compounds were selected as final GFA models. The Bayesian model has displayed a high classifying ability with the same test set compounds and the positively and negatively contributing molecular fingerprints were also unveiled by the model. The effectively contributing physicochemical properties and molecular fingerprints from a set of known HDAC8 inhibitors were identified and can be used in designing future HDAC8 inhibitors.

훈증소독제, Fumagari OPP®의 Staphylococcus aureus에 대한 살균효과 (Bactericidal Efficacy of Fumagari OPP®, Fumigant Against Staphylococcus aureus)

  • 본 연구는 20% ortho-phenylphenol을 함유한 훈증소독제, Fumagari OPP$^{(R)}$의 Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus)에 대한 살균효과를 평가하기 위해, French standard NF T 72-281에 따라 수행하였다. 배양 현탁액 중 S. aureus의 균수 (N 값), 훈증소독제에 노출된 각 담체의 균수 (n1, n2, n3), 평판배지법에 의한 시험균주 현탁액 중 균수 (N1), 여과법에 의한 시험균주 현탁액 중 균수 (N2), 그리고 대조담체의 회복 균수의 평균값 (T 값)을 예비실험을 통해 구하였다. 또한, 훈증소독제에 노출된 S. aureus의 감소 균수 (d 값)는, T 값, 회복액 중 균수의 평균값 (n'1) 그리고 배지의 담체에서 증식한 균수의 평균값 (n'2) 등을 이용하여 산출하였다. N 값은 $4.0{\times}10^8$ CFU/mL이었으며, n1, n2, n3은 각각 0.5N1, 0.5N2, 0.5N1 보다 높게 나타났다. 그리고 T값은 $3.4{\times}10^6$ CFU/mL이었다. 훈증소독제의 살균효과에 있어서, d 값은 6.43 logCFU/mL이었다. 훈증소독제에 대한 프랑스 기준에 따르면, 효과적인 살균력을 갖는 훈증소독제의 d 값이 5 logCFU/mL 이상이어야 하는 것으로 규정하고 있다. 본 연구의 결과로부터, Fumagari OPP$^{(R)}$는 S. aureus에 대해 높은 살균효과를 갖는 것으로 나타나, 병원성 세균으로 오염된 식품재료와 주방기기의 소독에 적용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

한국에의 전망을 모색하기 위한 프랑스 "부모학교"의 분석 (A study of french "Ecole des Parents" for perspective model in korean parent education)

  • This study is carried out to develope parent education methodology by analysing "${\acute{E}}cole$ des Parents" of France. To study this subject we approach by following three methodes. Firstly, we examined bibliographes to find out motivation of initiative caused from hystological and sociological circumstance. Secondly, to analyse chronological developement and modification of "${\acute{E}}cole$ des Parents" we interviewed with three periods of persons : founder, developer and actually working animators. In addition, we riviewed three hundred eighty volumes of $\underline{{\acute{E}}cole\;des\;Parents}$, from first jurnals to october, 1993. Thirdly, this study were approached by participant observation in actual activities, and by analyse statstical records and subject of articals. In results, we noticed following caractors working in french parent education system. All the regional "${\acute{E}}cole$ des Parents" are alined with "$F{\acute{E}}d{\acute{E}}ration$ Nationale des ${\acute{E}}cole$ des Parents et des ${\acute{E}}ducateurs$"(F.N.E.PE.) in educational polish but activities and methodes of education are independant with F.N.E.P.E., and in most different regional "${\acute{E}}cole$ des Parents" focussed the educational programes to the middle class families in economic point of view. these programes adjust very rapidly systematicaly to social requirment due to successed intensive research. Mordern programs tend to contain all members of family in stead of targeting only maternal members. Methodes of education by lectures and speechs only to deliver information also replaced by discussion, forum and groop animation to induce self-correction. We propose that the systems of FNEPE can be ideal models to solve many actual problems facing in Korean parent education systemes.
