  • A 2.5 V feed-forward second-order deltasigma modulator for audio application is presented. A 9-level quantizer with a tree-structured dynamic element matching (DEM) was employed to improve the linearity by shaping the distortion resulted from the capacitor mismatch of the feedback digital-toanalog converter (DAC). A chopper stabilization technique (CHS) is used to reduce the flicker noise in the first integrator. The prototype delta-sigma analogto-digital converter (ADC) implemented in a 65 nm 1P8M CMOS process occupies 0.747 $mm^2$ and achieves 109.1 dB dynamic range (DR), 85.4 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in a 24 kHz audio signal bandwidth, while consuming 14.75 mW from a 2.5 V supply.

  • This paper presents a single-pole eight-throw(SP8T) switch based on proposed a radio-frequency(RF) microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) switches. The proposed switch was driven by a double stop(DS) comb drive, with a lateral resistive contact. Additionally, the proposed switch was designed to have tapered signal line and bi-directionally actuated. A forward actuation connects between signal lines and contact part, and the output becomes on-state. A reverse actuation connects between ground lines and contact part, and the output becomes off-state. The SP8T switch of 3-stage tree topology was developed based on an arrangement of the proposed RF MEMS switches. The developed SP8T switch had an actuation voltage of 12 V, an insertion loss of 1.3 dB, a return loss of 15.1 dB, and an isolation of 31.4 dB at 6 GHz.

  • From the view point of data fusion, we integrate LIDAR data and digital aerial images to perform 3D building modeling in this study. The proposed scheme comprises two major parts: (1) building block extraction and (2) building model reconstruction. In the first step, height differences are analyzed to detect the above ground areas. Color analysis is then performed for the exclusion of tree areas. Potential building blocks are selected first followed by the refinement of building areas. In the second step, through edge detection and extracting the height information from LIDAR data, accurate 3D edges in object space is calculated. The accurate 3D edges are combined with the already developed SMS method for building modeling. LIDAR data acquired by Leica ALS 40 in Hsin-Chu Science-based Industrial Park of north Taiwan will be used in the test.

  • D.B.H., height, crown length, crown width, crown form, crown area, and crown volume of dead and live trees were measured and the discriminant analysis was conducted to assess individual tree risk-rating in the pine forest seriously infested by the pine needle gall midge. Thecodiplosis japonensis. Crown length, crown form, crown area, and crown volume of live tree were significantly higher than those of dead tree, while D.B.H. and tree height were not different significantly. These results represent that the trees with higher and wider crown and larger crown volume have relatively higher probability to survive from the infestation by the pine needle gall midge. Variables selected in the functions of discriminant analysis were crown area, ratio of crown length, crown form, ratio of crown volume to crown area, and ratio of crown width.

  • For a tree T rooted at a concentrator location in a telecommunication system, we assume that the capacity H for the concentrator is given and a profit $c_v$, and a demand $d_v$, on each node $\upsilon$ of T are also given. Then, the capacitated subtree of a tree problem (CSTP) is to find a subtree of T rooted at the concentrator location so as to maximize the total profit, the sum of profits over the subtree, under the constraint satisfying that the sum of demands over the subtree does not exceed H. In this paper, we develop a pseudopolynomial-time algorithm for CSTP, the depth-first dynamic programming algorithm. We show that a CSTP can be solved by our algorithm in $\theta$ (nH) time, where n is the number of nodes in T. Our algorithm has its own advantage and outstanding computational performance incomparable with other approaches such as CPLEX, a general integer programming solver, when it is incorporated to solve a Local Access Telecommunication Network design problem. We report the computational results for the depth-first dynamic programming algorithm and also compare them with those for CPLEX. The comparison shows that our algorithm is competitive with CPLEX for most cases.

  • Quercus floribunda (Tilonj oak) is among the five species of Quercus and an evergreen tree found in Kumaun Himalayan region. Timing of germination is a crucial event determining the success of seedling establishment and survival. The aims of the study were to investigate the effect of sowing date on the germination and morphological responses of Tilonj oak (Quercus floribunda), cultivated during the month of August-September, with supplementary irrigation. The experiment was conducted by sowing seeds at two dates with one month interval in glass house conditions at DSB Campus, Nainital, Uttarakhand, India. Present study revealed that higher germination percentage (46.67 %) was recorded at sowing time $S_2$ as compared to the sowing time $S_1$ (32.86 %). Germination percentage as well as seedling growth were affected by sowing date though the differences were insignificant. At both the sowing dates, highest germination percentage was recorded for large seeds (32.86-46.67 %) followed by medium (31.43-33.33 %) and lowest germination (6.67-7.14 %) was recorded for small size seeds. In all parameters assessed, sowing time $S_2$ had the best performance in combination with large seed size. Thus, September is suitable month for best germination, growth and seedling vigour and large seed size is recommended to silviculturists and tree planters. The information on seed germination and seedling growth is vital both for conservation and rehabilitation of degraded lands.

  • This study has been carried out to estimate aboveground biomass and net primary production in a 22-year-old Betula platyphylla and 24-year-old juglans mandshurica plantations. Nine sample trees were cut in each plantation. Estimations for aboveground biomass and net primary production were made by the equation model $Wt=aD^b$ where Wt is ovendry weight in kg and D is DBH in cm. Total aboveground biomass was 79.33t/ha in Betula platyphylla plantation and 67.47t/ha in Juglans mandshurica plantation. The proportion of each tree component to total aboveground biomass was high in order of bolewood, branches, bolebark, and leaves in the two plantations. Aboveground total net primary production was estimated at 9,92t/ha in Betula platyphylla plantation and 11.79t/ha in Juglans mandshurica plantation. There was greater net primary production in Juglans mandshurica plantation than in Betula platyphylla plantation because of greater bolewood, bolebark, current twig, and branch net primary productions in Juglans mandshurica plantation than in Betula platyphylla plantation.

  • 1) The general composition, vitamin, amino acid, digestibility and nutrition efficiency of the seeds of Pinus Koraiensis Sieb. et Zucc. were examined. (2) Pine tree seed contains approximately 17% or more protein nearly pure one. The amino acid composition of the protein was analyzed. When compared with the values of soybean and peanut reported in the literature, it contains slightly mare histidine and glycine etc., showing that the seeds are of high nutritional value. (3) The protein digestibility was 87% and the total content of digestible protein was approximately 14.9%, T.D.N. was 159.4%, proving itself excellent. (4) As to vitamins, it was found out that the seeds contain 275 r of $B_1$ and 99 r. As to minerals, Ca (301.2 mg) P (361 mg) and K (272 mg) were found to be contained in the seeds (5) The basic diet was considered nearly perfect from the view-point of nutrition, and to this were added 30%, 5% and 10% of the test sample respectively and were fed to albino rats. Among the three treatment, the 3% sample adding proved to be the mast effective one, showing the most efficient growth. Thus it can be presumed that the pine tree seeds certainly contain U.G.F. (6) The anatomical examination of the intestines of albino rats showed that the feeding of pine tree seeds bad favorable effect on the development of heart, kidney and pancreas.
