  • Partial discharge (PD) measurements have emerged as a dominant investigative tool for condition monitoring of insulation in high voltage equipment. But the major problem behind them the PD signal is severely polluted by several noises like White noise, Random noise, Discrete Spectral Interferences (DSI) and the challenge lies with removing these noise from the onsite PD data effectively which leads to preserving the signal for feature extraction. Accordingly the paper is mainly classified into two parts. In first part the PD signal is artificially simulated and mixed with white noise. In second part the PD is measured then it is subjected to the proposed denoising techniques namely Translation Invariant Wavelet Transform (TIWT). The proposed TIWT method remains the edge of the original signal efficiently. Additionally TIWT based denoising is used to suppress Pseudo Gibbs phenomenon. In this paper an attempt has been made to review the methodology of denoising the PD signals and shows that the proposed denoising method results are better when compared to other wavelet-based approaches like Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), by evaluating five different parameters like, Signal to noise ratio, Cross-correlation coefficient, Pulse amplitude distortion, Mean square error, Reduction in noise level.

  • The Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS), a dedicated regional Japanese satellite system currently under development, was designed to complement the performance of the Global Positioning System (GPS). The high elevation angle of the QZSS satellite is expected to enhance the effectiveness of GPS in urban environments. Thus, the work described in this paper, aimed to investigate the effect of QZSS on GPS performance, by processing the GPS and QZSS measurements recorded at the Bohyunsan reference station in South Korea. We used these data, to evaluate the satellite visibility, carrier-to-noise density (C/No), performance of single point positioning, and Dilution of Precision (DOP). The QZSS satellite is currently available over South Korea for 19 hours at an elevation angle of more than 10 degrees. The results showed that the impact of the QZSS on users' vertical positioning is greatest when the satellite is above 80 degrees of elevation. As for Precise Point Positioning (PPP) performance, the combined GPS/QZSS kinematic PPP was found to improve the positioning accuracy compared to the GPS only kinematic PPP.

  • Over the past years, a large number of acrylate polymers have been developed and the overcoat thin layer containing acrylate polymers have been used for TFT-LCD color filter. As forming thin layer using acrylate polymers, the existing acrylate polymers have some problems such as low hardness by low Tg temperature, coating uniformity and solubility in organic solvent. To solve these problems, we synthesized new polymer(Scheme.), containing olefin monomer, which has high Tg temperature, good coating uniformity and good solubility in organic solvent. The overcoat thin layer containing new polymer resulted in good coating uniformity, stain, spot, scratch, heat resistance, DOP(Degree Of Planarization) on RGB glass, transparency, hardness, adhesion, anti-chemicals(anti-acid, anti-base, anti-organic solvent), insulation and anti-humidity. Scheme. The structure of new polymer X = Olefin monomer contains ketone, ester, hydroxy, ether, halogen, nitrile, alkoxy, phenyl functional group $R_1$ and $R_2$= H or $CH_3$. • GNSS has been evolving dramatically in recent years. There are currently 6 GNSS (4 GNSS, AND 2 RNSS) constellations, which are GPS (USA), GLONASS (Russia), BeiDou (China), Galileo (EU), QZSS (Japan), and IRNSS (India). The Number of navigation satellites is expected to be over 150 by 2020. As the number of both constellations and satellites used for the improvement of positioning performance, high accuracy, and robustness of precise positioning is more promising. However, a large amount of the correction messages is required to support the augmentation system for the available satellites of all the constellations. Since bandwidth for the correction messages is generally limited, sending or scheduling the correction messages might be a critical issue in the near future. In this study, we analyze the relationship between the size of the bandwidth and Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) performance. Multiple Signal Messages (MSM), the only Radio Technical Commission for Maritimes (RTCM) message that supports multi-constellation GNSS, has been used for this assessment. Instead of the conventional method that broadcasts all the messages at the same time, we assign the MSM broadcasting interval for each constellation in 5 seconds. An open sky static and dynamic test for this study was conducted on the roof of Sejong University. Our results show that the RTK fixed position accuracy is not affected by the 5-second interval corrections, but the ambiguity fixing rate is degraded for poor DOP cases when RTK correction are transmitted intermittently.

  • For a localization system, the TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) measurement and AOA (Angle of Arrival) measurement are often used for estimating target's positions. Although it is known that the accuracy of TDOA based localization is superior to that of AOA based one, it may have a poor vertical accuracy in bad geometrical conditions. This paper, therefore, proposes a localization algorithm in which the vertical position is estimated by AOA measurements and the horizontal one is estimated by TDOA measurement in order to achieve high 3D-location accuracy. And this algorithm is applied to a GPS jammer localization systems because it has a large value of the DOP (Dilution of Precision) when the jammer is located far away from the system. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid TDOA/AOA location algorithm gives much higher location accuracy than TDOA or AOA only location.

  • Several oxynitride glasses were fabricated by means of adding $Si_3N_4$ powders as nitrogen source to Ca-Al-Si-O-N (CAS) and Mg-Al-Si-O-N (MAS) glass powders, and heat-treated in graphite crucible at 1600$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The physical and mechanical properties as well as impact resistance were generally increased and compared with each other. The impact resistance properties of those manufactured glasses were evaluated by DOP (depth of penetration) method which is a way to analyze armor materials. There were two means to be used herein; the copper jet impacted at hyper velocity by exploding K2l5 warhead and tungsten heavy alloy (WHA) impact bar at high velocity by firing in 30 mm solid propellent gun. The impact resistance properties against copper jet were increased and then decreased with increasing nitrogen content, while those against WHA bar were not changed apparently with nitrogen content.

  • In this study, the numerical simulation using AUTODYN-3D program was investigated angle trajectory prediction for inclined impacts of projectiles. The penetration and perforation of polycarbonate plate by 7.62 mm projectile was investigated numerically. The characteristic structure of the projectile's trajectory in the polycabonate plates was studied. Two combined failure criteria were used in the target plate, and the target plate was modeled with the properties of polycarbonate for simulating the ricochet phenomenon. The effect of the angle of inclination on the trajectory and kinetic energy of the projectile were studied. The dynamic deformation behaviors tests of polycabonate were compared with numerical simulation results which can be used as predictive purpose. From the simulation, the ricochet phenomenon was occurred for angles of inclination of $0^{\circ}{\leq}{\theta}{\leq}20^{\circ}$. The projectile perforated the plate for ${\theta}{\leq}30^{\circ}$, thus defining a failure envelope for numerical configuration. The numerical analyses are used to study the effect of the projectile impact velocity on the depth of penetration (DOP). It can be observed that the residual velocities were almost linear relative to penetration velocities. It means that polycarbonate has high resistance at higher velocities.

  • The conducting composites were prepared by blending of polyaniline(PANI) as conducting polymer and nylon6,6 as matrix in m-cresol. The PANI was protonated with alkylbenzenesulfonic acid such as camphorsulfonic acid(CSA) or dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid(DBSA). The miscibility of the composites was improved and the electrical conductivity was increased by adding dioctylphthalate(DOP). The electrical conductivity of the composites depending on the amount of protonating agent and PANI complex and the morphology were investigated. When it was protonated with DBSA having long alkyl chain and the content of PANI complex was 25 wt%, the electrical conductivity of the compsosite was increased up to 1.02 S/cm.

  • Based on the Benzoflex (Vesicol Chemical Co.) as PVC plasticizer substituents for Di-n-octyl phthalate (DOP), a series of new aromatic carboxylic acid ester compounds were designed as plasticizers, synthesized, and screened for the endocrine disrupting activity. 2-Hydroxybenzoic acid (1) and 2-methoxybenzoic acid (2) as the commercially available starting materials were reacted with diethylene glycol (3) in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid using Dean-Stark column to give diethylene glycol di-(2-hydroxy)benzoate (4, KH01) and diethylene glycol di-(2-methoxy)benzoate (5, KH02), respectively. And diethylene glycol di-(3-pyridinyl) ester (7, KH03) and dipropylene glycol di-(3-pyridinyl) ester (9, KH04) were obtained in high yields by treatment of nicotinoyl chloride (6) with diethylene glycol (3) and dipropylene glycol (8) in the presence of triethylamine as a base. To determine the estrogenic disrupting effect of new synthetic phthalate analogues, E-screen assay method was used. Of these compounds, 4 (KH01) was found to be compound without endocrine disrupting effect.

  • In fingerprint-based wireless positioning, it is necessary to establish a DB of the unmeasured area. To this end, a method of estimating the position of a base station based on a signal propagation model, and a method of estimating the information of the received signal in the unmeasured area based on the estimated position of the base station have been investigating. The purpose of this paper is to estimate the position of the base station using the measured information and to analyze the performance of the positioning. Vehicles equipped with a GPS receiver and signal measuring equipment travel the service area and acquire location-based Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) measurements. We propose a method of estimating the position of the base station using the measured information. And the performance of the proposed method is analyzed on a simulation basis. The simulation results confirm that the accuracy of the positioning is affected by the measured area and the Dilution of Precision (DOP), the accuracy of the position information obtained by the GPS receiver, and the errors of the signal included in the RSRP. Based on the results of this paper, we can expect that the position of the base station can be estimated and the DB of the unmeasured area can be constructed based on the estimated position of the base stations and the signal propagation model.
