  • This paper improves the autonomy for supplier's schedule and the flexibility of the final assembly line. The final assembly line is a single work station and each product taking different assembly time is considered. In the assembly schedule, the heuristic method based on the goal chasing method is used. Consequently, suppliers can independently determine their output rates and thus, change their workload pattern according to their needs and priorities. Moreover, this flexibility can help to avoid expensive final-assembly-line stoppages in case of sudden part supply disruptions. The sequencing method can be easily implemented into an existing just-in-time system. In addition, the mathematical model was formulated and the algorithm was explained through the flow chart. The numerical example was given and the efficiency of this method is shown through the analysis of computational results of that example.

  • In recent, most'of automobile industries adopt the concept of JIT production. According to the concept, the paternal manufacturers require their suppliers to supply parts just in time, so it is very important for a subcontractor to produce the parts in the appointed time of delivery. This study develops a production information system for Woosin Industry, which is one of such subcontractors of Hyundai Motors Company(HMC). The system is developed for use in Client/Server environment. In this study, the following three modules are developed, i. e., the production scheduling module, the sales management module to deal with the information about orders of HMC, delivery of parts, and bill collecting, and the module for supporting material requirements planning and purchase of material.

  • Up-to-date business environment for manufacturers is very complex and rapidly changing. In other words, companies are facing a variety of changes, such as diversifying customer requirements, shortening product life cycles, and switching to small quantity batch production. In this situation, the companies are introducing the concept of JIT (just-in-time) to solve the problem of on-time production and on-time delivery for survival. Though many companies have introduced ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems and MRP (material requirement planning) systems, the performance of these systems seems to fall short of expectations. In this paper, the case study on introducing an APS (advanced planning and scheduling) system based on dispatching rules to a machining company and on finding a method to establish an efficient production schedule is presented. The case company has trouble creating an effective production plan and schedule, even though it is equipped with an MRP-based ERP system. The APS system is applied to CNC (computer numerical control) machines, which are key machines of the case company. The overall progress of this research is as follows. First, we collect and analyze the master data on individual products and processes of the case company in order to build a production scheduling model. Second, we perform a pre-allocation simulation based on dispatching rules in order to calculate the priority of each order. Third, we perform a set of production simulations applying the priority value in order to evaluate production lead time and tardiness of pre-defined dispatching rules. Finally, we select the optimal dispatching rule suitable for work situation of the case company. As a result, an improved production schedule leads to an increase in production and reduced production lead time.

  • Fashion Industry is one of the Knowledge Based Industry. The firms which produce the fashion merchandises should shirt to new paradigm of creating new image to delight customers. New image and design is derived from each designer's creative mind. However, self management team work of designers is more creative power than each independent designer's work. This study recommends that the Korean fashion firms implement self management team, concurrent product design and development and Just-in-Time Ⅱ based on sharing information and knowledge with the supplier to set competitive advantage. It can not only reduce cost and improve speed of management and the qualify of products but also satisfy and delight customers.

  • Applying JIT(Just-In-Time) production system to strength competitiveness power and renovate managent has problems. This study is proposed to solve one of the problems, that mother company has different production system with subcontractor, in order to connect production system of mother company with subcontractor. In the view of the Pull System, production system of mother company, it is possible that the more smoothed production planning is established by developing the algorithm the smoothed production planning preserving the LOTproduction system and comparing the existing research. Also, in the view of subcontractor taking Push System, the possibility of keeping delivery and improving productivity is proved using simulation technique by changing Job shop to GT Cell production system because demand is fluctuating.

  • The purpose of this study is to certify the actual state of JIT(Just-in-Time) production system's implementation of Korean manufacturing industries and to exhibit the appropriate JIT system considering the company's characteristics, for attain the superior competitiveness. To understand the current situations of JIT system's implementation a questionnaire study is performed. Total 152 valid questionnaires are collected by personal visit and mailing method. All the data is statistically analyzed by SPSS PC+ and SAS program and reviewed to develop a strategy for JIT implementation of Korean manufacturing companies.

  • We have been recognize the adaptation of JIT(Just-in-Time) production system is necessary to improve the constitution of enterprises. But this system is not settled in our industrial environment owing to misunderstanding of JIT concepts and lack of participation all members of the oranization. This paper deals with systematic application of the JIT subsystems such as U-form layout, flexible workforces with multi- functional skilled workers and adjustment of standard operations procedures. And a successful productivity improvement case study of a small and medium sized industry was dealt.

  • An approach to Just-In-Time for small job-shop-type manufacturers is presented. This is aimed at those who understand the pull production system, however, cannot afford either swift changeover in workcenters or frequent delivery to customers. First, as a production planning technique, a lot-sizing model entitled Multilevel Least Total Cost Model(MLTCM) is developed; The production order quantities of each components be those requiremensts of the end item production lot. The contribution of MLTCM is shown via simulation. Then, a framework of the Kanban operations is designed; A Production Control Kanban is introduced as a communication tool with Production Kanban in a job-shop.

  • The Kanban system in Just-In-Time (JIT) production is very effective in reducing the inventories when consumption rate of the final product is relatively stable. When large fluctuations exist in the consumption rate, a new production ordering policy in which the production order quantity is determined by smoothing the demands exponentially is more suitable. This new ordering policy has not been investigated sufficiently. In this research, a multi-stage production and inventory system with stock points for materials and finished items located at each stage is considered. Approximations of average inventories at each stage in the system are derived theoretically. Numerical simulations are carried out to assess the accuracy of approximations and to evaluate the effectiveness of the new ordering policy as compared with the Kanban system. As a result, it is shown that the new ordering policy can achieve significantly lower inventory costs than the original Kanban system. The new ordering policy thus emerges as a key concept for an effective supply chain management.

  • Based on the survey on abalone aquaculture management status in Nohwa-eup, Bogil-myeon, and Wando-eup in Wando region, this study compared the analyzed business performance generated from production by region. The results show that the abalone production quantity has been stabilized currently after rapid growth during the past 10 years. In the future, it will be the time for more positively spontaneous efforts by people in aquaculture business to restore fishing ground, in which they have actively and continuously worked, by means of clean-up of fishing ground, movement of fishing ground, or time-off period rather than just to focus on the short-term increase of production in all of three regions.
