PURPOSE: The current case study focuses on identifying the effects of the independent application of TECAR therapy and physiotherapeutic intervention using TECAR therapy on pain self-awareness and hip joint function in patients with hip impingement syndrome caused by nonstructural changes. Subjects: The research subject was a 34-year-old woman struggling with acute pain in her left hip, difficulty in actively moving the hip, and a problem in its overall function. METHODS: The subject's pain awareness and hip joint function were measured using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and passive range of motion (PROM), respectively. The experimental intervention was carried out in 24 sessions of 16 minutes each, three times a week, for eight weeks. RESULTS: The VAS score decreased to 0 cm on the post-test from 4.3 cm, 6.5 cm, and 7.2 cm in the pre-test at the rest, standing, and gait positions, respectively. The index of PROM measured hip joint flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal rotation, external rotation, and passive straight leg raise. The values increased to 122.5°, 24.5°, 78°, 33°, 65°, 42°, and 96.5° in the post-test compared to 88.5°, 15°, 39°, 21.5°, 23°, 22°, and 46.5° in the pre-test, respectively. CONCLUSION: TECAR therapy and physiotherapeutic intervention using TECAR can help reduce pain and enhance the hip joint function in patients with hip impingement syndrome.

This paper aims to design a variable-stiffness type economical safety joint for service robots. The safety joint was designed to have a passive shock absorbing mechanism for protecting human from a catastrophic collision under service condition of robots. A simple mechanism composed of two action disks for switching the load transfer, a spring and a screw for pre-load was proposed. In order to evaluate the performance of the safety joint a testing platform which can carry out the static and impact tests was also designed and fabricated. From the test results, the designed safety joint was proved to have a variable load-carrying capacity and about 42% impact absorption capacity with simple manipulation of the control screw.

As a newly structural system, RCS composite system has been researched last two decades. However mechanism of exterior T-type joint for RCS composite system is not well known. This research is focus on the exterior T-type joint for RCS composite system. Specimens are designed by the ASCE guideline, tested and compared with the inner RCS joint. Test variables include face bearing plate(FBP), extended face bearing plate(E-FBP) and U-bar. The tests indicate that the strength of exterior T-type joint is higher than that of the guideline by ASCE. The U-bar has a significant effect on the joint strength and absorbing the strain energy.
Crack control of precast members is crucial for durability. However, there is no clear provision to check the crack width of precast joints. This study presents an experimental investigation of loop joint details for use in a precast bridge deck system. High strength concrete of 130 MPa was chosen for durability and closer joint spacing. Static tests were conducted to investigate the cracking and ultimate behavior of test specimens. The experimental results indicate that current design codes provide reasonable estimation of the flexural strength and cracking load of precast elements with loop joint of high strength concrete. However, the crack width control of the loop joints with high strength concrete by the current design practices was not appropriate. Some recommendations to improve crack control of the loop joint were derived.
There are three examples of noise reduction test by joint improvement. One of them is tested for electric car at joint rail and another is tested at expansion joint and long welded rail and the third is tested at open deck bridge. We can know from the result that the noise reduction effect of rail welding is very different to the type of track and the car. The condition of the test has some differences, but it may be useful reference of noise reduction

In this study, we tried to determine failure criteria for joints of soft rock using ring shear test machine. The residual stress fellowing shear behavior was determined by the result of ring shear test and direct shear test. Ring shear test with the specimens which cover a large deformation range was adapted to measure a residual stress, and was possible to present the peak stress to present the peak stress to the residual stress at the same time. Residual stress is defined a minimal stress of specimens with a large displacement and the result of the peak residual stress is shown by a size of displacement volume. Therefore, the residual stress in soil was decided by shear stress of maximum shear stress - shear displacement(angle) based on the test result of a hyperbolic function ((equation omitted), a, b = experimental constant). In this study, it was proved that the residual stress of rock joint can be determined by using of this method.
Purpose: This study investigated the effects of the non-elastic taping method for controlling internal hip joint rotation on internal and external hip rotator muscle activity in healthy people. Methods: In this study, 18 healthy volunteers were instructed to perform the small knee bending (SKB) test. All participants completed the test following two methods (using non-elastic taping and not using taping). Muscle activation during the two methods was measured using a surface electromyography (EMG) device. Surface EMG data were collected from the gluteus medius, gluteus maximus, and tensor fasciae femoris muscles while performing the SKB test with and without non-elastic taping. Results: Muscle activity in the gluteus maximus was significantly higher during the SKB test with non-elastic taping than during the conventional SKB test with taping (p < 0.05). Tensor fasciae latae muscle activity was lower during the SKB test with non-elastic taping than during the conventional SKB test (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The findings suggest that the non-elastic taping method for controlling internal hip joint rotation effectively activates the hip's external rotator muscles and minimizes unwanted internal rotator muscle use during the SKB test. Therefore, the non-elastic taping method for controlling internal hip joint rotation could be an effective intervention for those who cannot control the internal rotation of their hips.

The characteristics of the patients after the calcaneal fracture that were associated with an unsatisfactory outcome were subtalar incongruity, decreased Bohler angle ratio of the fractured to the normal side, an age of more than fifty years, work involving strenuous labor, and increased time missed from work due to the injury. The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability of measurements of the range of motion of the subtalar joint. To determine reliability, evaluates of the correlatioinship between the degree of the displacement of the subtalar joint and Circle draw test after the calcaneal fracture. Fifty patients who had had fifty five calcaneal fractures were managed with open reduction and internal fixation. The results were reviewed retrospectively, between 4months and three years after the operation, with use of an evaluation system for the subtalar joint and with plain radiographs. At follow up evaluation, the result was assessed on the basis of restoration of anatomy and function of the subtalar joint. We evaluated the subtalar joint with plain films that consist of anteroposterior projection, lateral projection, calcaneal axial view, and Broden's view, and the measurements of the displacement of the subtalar joint surface after the calcaneal fracture. And we evaluated the range of motion of the subtalar joint with Circle draw test for physical evaluation. Circle draw test was evaluated and demonstrated the motion of flexion-supination-adduction and extension-pronation-abduction of the subtalar joint. And there are correlationship between the degree of the displacement and range of motion of the subtalar joint after the calcaneal fracture. The report critically reviews methords used to measure Circle draw test for physical examination of the follow up after the calcaneal fracture.
Reinforced concrete (RC) joint shear strength models are constructed using an experimental database in conjunction with a Bayesian parameter estimation method. The experimental database consists of RC beam-column connection test subassemblies that maintained proper confinement within the joint panel. All included test subassemblies were subjected to quasi-static cyclic lateral loading and eventually experienced joint shear failure (either in conjunction with or without yielding of beam reinforcement); subassemblies with out-of-plane members and/or eccentricity between the beam(s) and the column are not included in this study. Three types of joint shear strength models are developed. The first model considers all possible influence parameters on joint shear strength. The second model contains those parameters left after a step-wise process that systematically identifies and removes the least important parameters affecting RC joint shear strength. The third model simplifies the second model for convenient application in practical design. All three models are unbiased and show similar levels of scatter. Finally, the improved performance of the simplified model for design is identified by comparison with the current ACI 352R-02 RC joint shear strength model.
