RC (Reinforced Concrete) members are always subjected to loading conditions and have construction joints when constructed on a big scale. Service life for RC structure exposed to chloride attack is usually estimated through chloride diffusion test in sound concrete, however the test is performed without consideration of effect of loading and joint. In the present work, chloride diffusion coefficient is measured in concrete cured for 1 year. In order to evaluate the effect of applied load, cold joint, and mineral admixtures, OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) and 40%-replaced GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) concrete are prepared. The diffusion test is performed under loading conditions for concrete containing cold joint. Investigating the previous test results for 91 days-cured condition and the present work, changing diffusion coefficients with applied stress are normalized considering material type and cold joint. For evaluation of service life in RC continuous beam with 2 spans, non-linear analytical model is adopted, and service life in each location is evaluated considering the effects of applied stress, cold joint, and GGBFS. From the work, varying service life is simulated under various loading conditions, and the reduced results due to cold joint and tensile zone are quantitatively evaluated. The effect of various conditions on diffusion can provide more quantitative evaluation of chloride behavior and the related service life.

This paper presents a series of ultimate and fatigue experimental investigation on concrete-filled rectangular hollow section (CRHS) X joints with Perfobond Leister rib (PBR) under tension. A total of 15 specimens were fabricated, in which 12 specimens were tested under ultimate tension and 3 specimens were investigated in fatigue test. Different parameters including PBR stiffening, brace-to-chord ratio (${\beta}$) and inclined angle (${\theta}$) were considered in the test. Each joint was tested to failure under tension load. Obtained from test result, PBR was found to improve the tension strength and fatigue durability of CRHS joint substantially. Concrete dowel consisted by PBR and concrete inside the chord stiffened the joint, which leaded to a combination failure mode of punching shear and chord plastification of CRHS joint under tension. Finite element analysis validated the compound failure mode. Stress concentration on typical spot of CRHS joint was mitigated by PBR which was observed from fatigue test. Initial fatigue crack presented in CRHS joint with PBR also differentiated with the counterpart without PBR.
In the design of wood structures, the consideration of the dynamic load effect has been increased. Generally, damping ratio is presented as the method of considering dynamic load effect. So, the relationship between joint type and damping ratio was investigated. It has been known that the joint extremely damp the dynamic load in wood structures. Static test was performed to determine the effects of nail size and friction area on joint strength and stiffness. Joint strength and stiffness were increased with nail size. However, the static properties of joint was not affected by friction area. Cyclic test was performed to determine the effects of nail size, friction area and load magnitude on damping ratio, Damping ratio was affected by all factors. Increasing the width of the bottom plate was suggested as the most adequate method to increase the damping ratio without the reduction of the static properties of the structures.
The purpose of this study was to compare the difference of joint position sense between measurements. Fourteen healthy male subjects were recruited for this study. The elbow joint position senses were measured using angle reproduction test. The elbow joint position sense was assessed with three experimental conditions: ipsilateral reproduction test in open-chain condition, contralateral reproduction test in open-chain condition, ipsilateral reproduction test with weight in open-chain condition and ipsilateral reproduction test in closed-chain condition. The angular difference between stimulus position and the reproduced position (angular error) was calculated in all testing conditions to examine the accuracy of the joint position sense. One way ANOVA was used to compare the error angles in all experimental conditions. The error angles between measurements were significantly different in elbow joint. The error angles was smallest in ipsilateral reproduction test with weight in open-chain condition and was greatest in the contralateral reproduction test in open-chain condition. Findings of this study indicate that testing methods, types of task, existence of resistance should be considered in clinical assessment for the joint position sense.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of hip joint mobilization (HJM) on walking ability, balance ability, and the joint range of motion in stroke patients to minimize the problems of the musculoskeletal system in patients with central nervous system diseases. All volunteers were randomly assigned to the HJM group ($n_1=14$) and the general neurodevelopment therapy (NDT) group ($n_2=16$). The HJM procedure involved applying Maitland mobilization techniques (distraction, lateral gliding, inferior gliding, and anterior gliding) by grade 3 to both hip joint. The mobilization process included mobilization and NDT for 15 min/day, 3 days a week for 4 weeks. The outcome measures were evaluated, including the hip joint passive range of motion (ROM) test and femur head anterior glide test (FHAG) using prone figure four test, dynamic and static balance abilities [timed up and go (TUG) test and center of pressure (COP) analysis], and walking ability [10-meter walking test (10MWT) and 6-min walking test (6MWT)]. Both the groups showed significant post-training differences in the hip joint ROM (FHAG and degree of hip extension) and 10MWT. The post-training improvements in the TUG test were significantly greater in patients of the HJM group than in the NDT group; however, there were no post-training improvements in COP in both groups. Patients in the HJM group showed post-training improvement in the 6MWT; however, statistically significant differences were not observed. Patients in the NDT group showed post-training improvements in the 6MWT. These results suggest that HJM improves hip joint ROM, dynamic balance ability, and walking speed in stroke patients. However, further studies are required to evaluate the long-term therapeutic efficacy of HJM in stroke patients.
In electronic industry, the trend of future electronics will be flexible, bendable, wearable electronics. Until now, there is few study on bonding technology and reliability of bonding joint between chip with micro solder bump and flexible substrate. In this study, we investigated joint properties of Si chip with eutectic Sn-58Bi solder bump on Cu pillar bump bonded on flexible substrate finished with ENIG by flip chip process. After flip chip bonding, we observed microstructure of bump joint by SEM and then evaluated properties of bump joint by die shear test, thermal shock test, and bending test. After thermal shock test, we observed that crack initiated between $Cu_6Sn_5IMC$ and Sn-Bi solder and then propagated within Sn-Bi solder and/or interface between IMC and solder. On the other hands, We observed that fracture propated at interface between Ni3Sn4 IMC and solder and/or in solder matrix after bending test.
The bonding strength evaluation of the light weight materials for an electrical vehicle has been performed through the T-peel joint test in which the design paramete- rs such as joint style, adherend type, adherend thickness, adhesive thickness, and adhesive type are considered. It is experimentally observed that the peel strength of joint increases with the increase of the adherend thickness. With the increase of the adhesive thickness, however, the peel strength of joint increases a little. Aluminum-FRP adherend combination shows such higher peel strength than that of Aluminum-Aluminum adherend combination. For the adhesive bonded joint, the results of FEM analysis agree with those of experiment. The adhesive bonded joint reinfored with a rivet gives higher peel strength than that of the joint without rivet.

To absorb the deformation of ,external live load, thermal gradient, shrinkage and creep in bridge structures and general structures, expansion joint has to be established. Especially expansion joint for high-speed railway bridge has to accomodate the static and dynamic forces and it not only has the durability of itself but also maintain the durability of structure by preventing the leakage of water. The actual used product of expansion joint for high-speed railway bridge is only ones made in France, Germany and Japan. In this study, the development process and test results of developed expansion joint are introduced which has the functional operation and durability enough to apply to high-speed railway bridges, roadway bridges and general structures. The tests consist of fatigue-durability test of 3 million times by high-speed rail load, leakage test and jack-up test for verifying the possibility of exchanging it. The performance of developed expansion joint satisfy the specification of Korea High Speed Rail Construction Authority.
