The prefabricated type used generally in Korea to join cable runs on new installations or to repair broken Cable runs on existing installations, because installation is very simple and save time. This type is a permanent, shielded and submersible cable joint for direct burial or vault application. It confirms to the requirements of IEEE std. 404-1993 by factory testing, but many problems of insulated cable systems are caused by internal defects of the joint part which have to be mounted ensile. Faults arise from impurities or voids. A suitable solution for a monitoring of cable joints during the after-laying test and service is partial discharge detection. <중략> $\Phi-q-n$ properties were measured using detection impedance, high pass filter and computerized data acquisition system. Statistic Value like maximum charge, repetition rate, average charge, etc. are calculated. It is possible to quantitative analysis of $\Phi-q-n$ properties from this statistic value and pattern analysis.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to assess the relationship between the severity of radiographic features and pain and function in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). METHODS: Seventy-eight subjects (14 men, 64 women) with KOA, between the ages of 41 and 83 years (mean age, 61.29 years), were included. All the subjects diagnosed with KOA were scored for severity of radiographic KOA according to the Kellgren-Lawrence (K/L) grade, visual analogue scale (VAS), knee joint range of motion (ROM), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), maximum muscle power (MMP), and sit-to-stand (STS) and one-leg standing (OLS) tests. Associations among the K/L grade, diagnosis, pain, and function were examined by correlation analysis. RESULTS: There were no significant differences between the K/L grade, and the VAS, STS test time, and WOMAC scores (p>.05). There were no significant differences between the K/L grade, bilateral ROM, MMP, and left OLS test time (p>.05). However, there was a significant difference between the K/L grade and right OLS test time (p<.05). The K/L grade was negatively correlated with the left OLS test time(r=-.24, p<.05) and with the right OLS test time (r=-.307, p<.01). CONCLUSION: These results suggest that radiographic KOA was not associated with pain, knee MMP, ROM, and STS test time, but had a weak negative correlation with OLS test time.

East Parts of Bangladesh have been benifited by low cost energy generated by domestic natural gas but West parts where energy generated by imported fuel. Bangladesh Government authority has very much concerned to transmit the low cost electricity to the West from the East for past several years. To solve such concerns, cross-country 230kv double circuits Power transmission line was proposed, however there was a big obstacle for the realization of this line to cross the Jamuna river which has 12 km long width with a deep muddy river bed. A consultant engineering firm named Merz-Mclellan anyway finalized this plan and a world-wide bid was announced on June 31, 1979. Due to the expected difficulty to construct the towers on sea like area, only three construction groups have participated. including a Korean joint venture organization of Samsung-Korean Developement corporation-Kolon Electric Machinery company. After 3 months bid evaluation, contract was awarded to Korean Consosium and KEM Co was in charge of designing steel towers with anchor bolts and base plates beside to electrical engineering field. Then KEM Co have faced and over-comed many unenpected technical difficulties such as forced eccentricity joint on base plate, distorsion issue of 60mm thick plates welding, threading anchor bolts, tad heat treatment of some anchor bolts, disagreement from Consultant Engineer on multiplying factor of leg stresses for 45$^{\circ}$ wind and on reducing O.L.F for wind loads on cables for such 1220km long spans. After spending two years long period for designing and engineering towers, base plates, and anchor bolts, first shipment of tower was finally realized on Nov. 8, 1981 and on the other hand KDD has proceeded concrete caisson work on schedule at Jamuna river site and expected to complete tower erection and stringing of cables within this year of 1982 which was original completion target.

Aiming at motion analysis and compensation, it is essential to conduct motion detection with images. However, motion detection and tracking from low-altitude images obtained from an unmanned aerial system may pose many challenges due to degraded image quality caused by platform motion, image instability and illumination fluctuation. This research tackles these challenges by proposing a modified joint transform correlation algorithm which includes two preprocessing strategies. In spatial domain, a modified fuzzy edge detection method is proposed for preprocessing the input images. In frequency domain, to eliminate the disturbance of self-correlation items, the cross-correlation items are extracted from joint power spectrum output plane. The effectiveness and accuracy of the algorithm has been tested and evaluated by both simulation and real datasets in this research. The simulation experiments show that the proposed approach can derive satisfactory peaks of cross-correlation and achieve detection accuracy of displacement vectors with no more than 0.03pixel for image pairs with displacement smaller than 20pixels, when addition of image motion blurring in the range of 0~10pixel and 0.002variance of additive Gaussian noise. Moreover, this paper proposes quantitative analysis approach using tri-image pairs from real datasets and the experimental results show that detection accuracy can be achieved with sub-pixel level even if the sampling frequency can only attain 50 frames per second.
A novel fine-mapping method exploiting linkage disequilibrium (LD) was applied to better refine the quantitative trait loci (QTL) positions for milk production traits on bovine chromosome 14 in the pedigree comprising 22 paternal half-sib families of a Black-and-White Holstein-Friesian grand-daughter design in the Netherlands for a total of 1,034 sons. The chromosome map was constructed with the 31 genetic markers spanning 90 Kosambi cM with the average inter-marker distance of 3.5 cM. The linkage analyses, in which the effects of sire QTL alleles were assumed random and the random factor of the QTL allelic effects was incorporated into the Animal Model, found the QTL for milk, fat, and protein yield and fat and protein % with the Lod scores of 10.9, 2.3, 6.0, 25.4 and 3.2, respectively. The joint analyses including LD information by use of multi-marker haplotypes highly increased the evidence of the QTL (Lod scores were 25.1, 20.9, 11.0, 85.7 and 17.4 for the corresponding traits, respectively). The joint analyses including DGAT markers in the defined haplotypes again increased the QTL evidence and the most likely QTL positions for the five traits coincided with the position of the DGAT gene, supporting the hypothesis of the direct causal involvement of the DGAT gene. This study strongly indicates that the exploitation of LD information will allow additional gains of power and precision in finding and localising QTL of interest in livestock species, on the condition of high marker density around the QTL region.
The probabilistic characterization of wind field characteristics is a significant task for fatigue reliability assessment of long-span railway bridges in wind-prone regions. In consideration of the effect of wind direction, the stochastic properties of wind field should be represented by a bivariate statistical model of wind speed and direction. This paper presents the construction of the bivariate model of wind speed and direction at the site of a railway arch bridge by use of the long-term structural health monitoring (SHM) data. The wind characteristics are derived by analyzing the real-time wind monitoring data, such as the mean wind speed and direction, turbulence intensity, turbulence integral scale, and power spectral density. A sequential quadratic programming (SQP) algorithm-based finite mixture modeling method is proposed to formulate the joint distribution model of wind speed and direction. For the probability density function (PDF) of wind speed, a double-parameter Weibull distribution function is utilized, and a von Mises distribution function is applied to represent the PDF of wind direction. The SQP algorithm with multi-start points is used to estimate the parameters in the bivariate model, namely Weibull-von Mises mixture model. One-year wind monitoring data are selected to validate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling method. The optimal model is jointly evaluated by the Bayesian information criterion (BIC) and coefficient of determination, $R^2$. The obtained results indicate that the proposed SQP algorithm-based finite mixture modeling method can effectively establish the bivariate model of wind speed and direction. The established bivariate model of wind speed and direction will facilitate the wind-induced fatigue reliability assessment of long-span bridges.
Purpose: This study was done to establish reference data for temporo-spatial, kinematic and kinetic parameters for normal Koreans as they age. Methods: Normal adults and children without a previous history of musculoskeletal problems were enrolled in this study. The normal subjects were divided by age into three groups: Group I: children ($11.95{\pm}0.29$ years); Group II: young adults ($23.90{\pm}3.67$ years); Group III: older adults ($71.40{\pm}4.08$ years). The temporo-spatial and kinematic data were measured using 6 MX3 cameras while each subject walked through a 10 m walkway at a self-selected speed. The kinetic data were measured using 2 force plates and were calculated by inverse dynamics. Results: Motion patterns are typically associated with a specific phase of the gait cycle. Our results were as follows: 1. There were significant differences between the different age groups in temporo-spatial parameters such as cadence, double support, time of foot off, stride length, step length, and walking speed. 2. There were significant differences between the groups in kinematic parameters such as range of motion (ROM) of the hip, knee and ankle in the sagittal plane, ROM of the pelvis, hip and knee in the coronal plane and ROM of the pelvis, hip and ankle in the transverse plane. 3. There were significant differences between the groups in kinetic parameters such as joint moments of force, joint mechanical power generation or absorption and ground reaction forces. Conclusion: The results of this study can be utilized (a) as a reference for kinematic and kinetic data of gait analysis in normal Koreans, and (b) as an aide in evaluating and treating patients who have problems relating to gait.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the segments of the body and to qualitatively analyze coordination pattern of joints and segments during Sweep Shot movement in Ice Hockey, by utilizing coordination variables was angle vs. angle plots. By the utilization the three dimensional anatomical angle cinematography, the angles of individual joint and segment according to sweep shot in ice hockey. The subjects of this study were five professional ice hockey players. The reflective makers were attached on anatomical boundary line of body. For the movement analysis three dimensional cinematographical method(APAS) was used and for the calculation of the kinematic variables a self developed program was used with the LabVIEW 6.1 graphical programming(Johnson, 1999) program. By using Eular's equations the three dimensional anatomical Cardan angles of the joint and ice hockey stick were defined. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement and coordination pattern of trunk and Upper limb(shoulder-elbow, elbow-wrist linked system) showed important role of sweep shot in ice hockey. As the result of this paper, for the successful movement of sweep shot in ice hockey, it is most important role of coordination pattern of trunk-shoulder, shoulder-elbow and elbow-wrist. specially turnk movememt as a proximal segment. Coordination pattern of Upper Limb(upperarm-forearm-hand) of Sweep Shot movement in Ice Hockey that utilizes coordination variables seems to be one of useful research direction to understand basic control mechanisms of Ice hockey sweep shooting linked system skill. this study result showed flexion-extension, adduction-abduction and internal-external rotation of trunk are important role of power and shooting direction coordination pattern of upper Limb of Sweep Shot movement in Ice Hockey.

Korea-Japan Fisheries Agreement concluded in 1965 made a contribution to the stable development of fisheries relationship for both countries until the year of 1980. From the time on thereafter a series of respectable fishery disputes occurred throughout the period of fisheries self-regulation in accordance with alteration of home and abroad conditions. And both countries marched into a cooperation era by enforcement of the new fisheries agreement from the 23 January 1999, because the Fisheries Agreement system of 1965 had many limitations to settle the fundamental fisheries problems. In this paper, the author carried out the legal interpretation, arrangement of historical facts and evaluation of actual results of the Korea-Japan Fisheries Agreement of 1965. The key contents of the Fisheries Agreement were the establishment of 12-nautical mile exclusive fishery zone and the joint-control fishery zone under the principles of maintenance of MSY for fishery resources, freedom of high seas and mutual cooperation. The legal foundation of the conclusion of the Fisheries Agreement were the San Francisco Peace Treaty of 1952 and the four International Conventions on the Law of the Sea of 1958. During the 33 years, the fisheries power of Korea made a rapid stride, on the other hand that of Japan was almost stagnated. And in the meantime, there were very important development on the international law of the sea, for instant, the settlement of 12-nautical mile territorial sea regime and the establishment of 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone regime. Annual meetings of the Joint Fisheries Committee were not successful to fill the role for conservation of fishery resources. The Fisheries Self-Regulation Agreement concluded in 1980 was also insufficient to accept the new international regime on the law of the sea, for that reason it was terminated on 23 January 1999. But it is true that the Fisheries Agreement of 1965 made a contribution to normalization of fisheries relationship between both countries and fisheries development of Korea.

Background: The purpose is to investigate the immediate effects of kinesio taping on quadriceps induced fatigue by short-term squat. Methods: This research is cross-over designed study and conducted as a single-blind. Eleven students (Age: $18.91{\pm}0.49yrs$, height: $167.09{\pm}8.46cm$, $62.55{\pm}11.32kg$) were participated in this study. All the participants were applied short-term squat for inducing fatigue, and then intervented all three conditions (kinesio taping applied condition, placebo taping applied condition, non-taping applied condition). The interval of each intervention was at least a seven days to prevent carry-over effects. The participants were tested peak torque (isometric contracture) and active joint position sense (active JPS) pre-post intervention. A paired t-test was used to find the significance of pre-post intervention results and one-way ANOVA was used to find the significance between interventions with significant level as .05. Results: Peak torque was significantly increased on KT condition (p<.05). But there were no significant effects on active JPS. Because kinesio taping facilitates Ia afferent by tactile stimulation with stretched skin, reduced muscle power by short term squat which induce muscle fatigue was increased. But kinesio taping does not affect mechanoreceptor in muscles, induced active JPS by short-term squat had no changes.
