In this study, 5-story structures were designed in accordance with KBC2009 for inelastic time history analysis of RC IMRF. Bending moment-curvature relationship for beam and column was identified with fiber model and bending moment-rotation relationship for beam-column joint was calculated with simple and unified joint shear behavior model and moment equilibrium relationship for the joint. The hysteretic behavior was simulated with three-parameter model suggested in IDARC program. The analytical results showed that the inelastic shear behavior of the joint could be neglected in the structural design for seismic design category C but the structure of category D did not satisfy the criteria of FEMA 356 for collapse prevention performance level.

Exterior beam-column joint is typically the weakest link in a limited-ductile reinforced concrete (RC) frame structure. The use of diagonal haunch element has been considered as a desirable seismic retrofit option for reducing the seismic demand at the joint. Previous research globally has focused on implementing double haunches, while the use of single haunch element as a less-invasive and more architecturally favorable retrofit option has not been investigated. In this paper, the key formulations and a design procedure for the single haunch system for retrofitting RC exterior beam-column joint are developed. An application of the proposed design procedure is then illustrated through a case study.

Virtual Reality(VR) data in VR environments like Manufacturing industries are often created jointly by many creators. It is then necessary to provide protection of the joint-creatorship and the creatorship of each participating creator. This paper proposes Multiple Digital Watermarking Framework(MDWF) to solve the problem of joint-creatorship. The proposed framework, MDWF, makes use of 3D private watermarking technology and a novel key sharing protocol for joint-creatorship verification. MDWF embeds 3D private multiple watermarks for the creatorship of each participating creators in a non-overlapping manner during the creation process. After key agreement of all private keys, MDWF embeds an additional 3D private watermark for the joint-creatorship. Therefore MDWF successfully handles the creatorship dispute among creators. That is, each participation creator can prove his/her partial creatorship as well as joint-creatorship by MDWF. In addition, MDWF can solve the collusion problems because shared secret key(SSK) can be made by every users.

The mobility (degree of freedom) of mechanisms can be regarded as independent coordinate to define its position. This concept is essential for kinematics, and for designing mechanisms in the practical point of view. Gruebler's equation has been applied to estimate the mobility using number of links and joints of a mechanism. In practical case, there are many types of mechanisms, which transfer motion by direct contact between two links. However, no exact kinematic definition has existed for the joint that the contact takes place in a mechanism. In this paper, a new concept of contact joint is defined and modified Gruebler's equation is suggested to calculate mobility of a mechanism with the joint. This concept would be useful in mechanism design because it will be possible to manage many contact mechanisms with kinematic exactness.
Recently, a new issue in designing spot welded structures such as automobile and train car bodies is to predict an economical fatigue design criterion. One of the most typical and traditional methods is to use a ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curve. However, since the fatigue data on the ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curve vary according to the welding conditions, materials, geometry of joint and fatigue loading conditions, it is necessary to perform the additional fatigue tests for determining a new fatigue design criterion of spot-welded lap joint having specific dimension and geometry. In this study, the stress distributions around spot welds of various spot welded lap joints such as in-plane bending type (IB type), tension shea. type (TS type) and cross tension type (CT type) were numerically analyzed. Using these results, the ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curves Previously obtained from the fatigue tests for each type were rearranged into the Δ$\sigma$-N$\sub$f/ relations with the maximum stresses at the nugget edge of the spot weld.

This paper presents upgraded equipment to assist a patient in rehabilitating of their knee-joint by themselves. A new automatic mechanism is suggested and developed in order to add functions for enforcing the leg muscles, which were absent in previous rehabilitation machines. Using the Pro-engineer software, we analyze the displacements and speeds of several moving points of the equipment during various planned exercises. In addition, an appropriate control panel for operation is developed. Three motors andthree motor drivers are used in a tilting part for the ankle joint, sliding guide part for the knee joint, and up-down moving part for the whole leg. Finally, various newly upgraded motions can be generated by controlling the three motors simultaneously. we show that by using this equipment, we can adjust the proper length of the equipment according to the user's height and the intensity of the rehabilitation exercise.
Gaskets are usually used for the sealing of flange joints. The joint is usually composed of two flanges, a ring gasket and clamping bolts. The metal ring gasket is suitable for pipe flanges, pumps and valve joints in high temperature and high pressure environments. A very high surface stress is developed between a ring type joint gasket and the flange groove when the ring type joint is bolted up in a flange. The dimensions of flanges and ring joint gaskets for the pipe sizes that are in common use are specified in the ANSI codes. However, sometimes it is necessary to make a new design for the flange joint which is not specified in the codes, as the equipment is getting larger and larger in size. This paper presents the contact behavior of Class 600 ring joint gaskets with oval and octagonal cross sections. Five different sizes of gaskets are employed in the analysis, and one of them is newly designed on the basis of analysis results obtained from existing models. Three load steps are used to find the stress, stain and contact pressure etc., and to compare the contact characteristics among the models due to the bolt clamping force and the working surface pressure. ANSYS Workbench version15 is used to conduct the finite element analysis.
Automobile industry, along with the automobile steering system, is rapidly changing and developing. The constant velocity joint transmits power to the wheels of vehicles without changing their angular velocity based on the movement of the steering wheel. Moreover, it controls their movement to act as a buffer. In order to prevent the excessive increase in temperature caused by the movement of vehicles, boots are attached to the constant velocity joint and lubricant is injected into the boots. The boots maintain the lubrication and protect the constant velocity joint from sand, water, and so on. As the wheels of the vehicle rotate, the boots are acted upon by forces such as bending, compression, and tension. Additionally, self-contact occurs to boots. Therefore, their durability deteriorates over time. To prevent this problem, polychloroprene rubber was initially used however, it was replaced by thermoplastic polyester elastomers due to their excellent fatigue durability. In this study, the structural analysis of boots was conducted. The results showed the deformation patterns of the boots based on the translation and rotation of the constant velocity joint. Moreover, it confirmed the location that was vulnerable to deformation. This study can be used to potentially design high-quality constant velocity joint boots.

In this study design and construction technique for joint-less integral abutment for short to mid span bridges was developed. Expansion of superstructure due to thermal effect was absorbed in the flexible pile-type abutment in stead of expansion joint in the conventional bridges. Design method for pile subject to vertical and horizontal force was proposed. Backfill, approach slab and details of its connection joint with pavement was also proposed.
With the development of spatial structures, the joints are becoming more and more complex to connect tubular members of spatial structures. In this study, an approach is proposed to establish high-efficiency finite element model of multiplanar KTX-joint with the weld geometries accurately simulated. Ultimate bearing capacity the KTX-joint is determined by the criterion of deformation limit and failure mechanism of chord wall buckling is studied. Size effect of fillet weld on the joint ultimate bearing capacity is preliminarily investigated. Based on the validated finite element model, a parametric study is performed to investigate the effects of geometric and loading parameters of KT-plane brace members on ultimate bearing capacity of the KTX-joint. The effect mechanism is revealed and several design suggestions are proposed. Several simple reinforcement methods are adopted to constrain the chord wall buckling. It is concluded that the finite element model established by proposed approach is capable of simulating static behaviors of multiplanar KTX-joint; chord wall buckling with large indentation is the typical failure mode of multiplanar KTX-joint, which also increases chord wall displacements in the axis directions of brace members in orthogonal plane; ultimate bearing capacity of the KTX-joint increases approximately linearly with the increase of fillet weld size within the allowed range; the effect mechanism of geometric and loading parameters are revealed by the assumption of restraint region and interaction between adjacent KT-plane brace members; relatively large diameter ratio, small overlapping ratio and small included angle are suggested for the KTX-joint to achieve larger ultimate bearing capacity; the adopted simple reinforcement methods can effectively constrain the chord wall buckling with the design of KTX-joint converted into design of uniplanar KT-joint.
