The purpose of this study was to analyze the biomechanical differences of lower extremity joints of the frontal plane during sidestep cutting in male and female Judo athletes. In the knee and hip joint, the female group showed a smaller angle than the male group at the time of IC(initial contact). But peak knee joint adduction moment of female group was greater than male group(p<.05). Therefore, female Judo athletes were more likely to injure their knees at the point where their initial foot contacted the ground than male athletes during sidestep cutting.
C. H. OH, S. N. CHOI, T. G. NAM, The Kinematic Analysis of the Tennis Flat Serve Motion, Korean Jiurnal of Sports Biomechanics, Vol. 16, No. 2, pp. 97-108, 2006. By the comparison and the analysis of the different factors during the tennis flat serve motion such as the required time per section, the movement displacement of the racket, the velocity of the upper limbs joints, the physical center of gravity, and the angle and the angular velocity of the upper limbs joints between an ace player and a mediocre player, these following results were drawn. First, the experiment result of the total time required per section in a tennis flat serve motion showed that an ace player was faster than a mediocre player by 0.4 seconds. This result suggested that it was required to increase the speed of the racket head by a swift swing to perform an effective flat serve motion. Second, the experiment result of the movement displacement of the racket in the tennis flat serve motion showed that an ace player greatly moved toward the left side on an x-axis. But both an ace and a mediocre player were shown to be at the similar points on a y-axis at the moment of the impact of the racket. An ace player was also shown to be located at a higher position on a z-axis by 0.23m. Third, the velocity of the center of gravity of an ace player was faster in every phase than that of a mediocre player in a tennis flat serve motion. Fourth, the velocity of the upper limb joints of an ace player was faster in every phase than that of a mediocre player in a tennis flat serve motion. Fifth, the experiment result of the speed of the racket head in tennis flat serve motion showed that a mediocre player was faster than an ace player in the first phase, but the latter was faster than the former in the second, third, and the fourth phases. Sixth, at the moment of impact of a tennis flat serve, an ace player had greater flexion of the angle of the wrist joints by an 11.8 degree than a mediocre player. An ace player also had greater extension of the angle of the elbow joint and the shoulder joint respectively by a 5.2 degree and a 1.4 degree with a mediocre player. Seventh, an ace player had greater angular velocity of the upper limb joints and the hip joints than a mediocre player at the moment of the impact of tennis flat serve. Eighth, an ace player was shown to have a greater change of the forward and the backward inclination (or the anterior and posterior inclination) of the upper body
Previous experimental researches indicate that reinforced concrete beam-column joints play an important role in the mechanical properties of moment resisting frame structures, so as to require proper design. In order to get better understanding of the beam-column joint performance, a rational model needs to be developed. Based on the former considerations, two typical models for calculating the shear carrying capacity of the beam-column joint including the inelastic reinforced concrete joint model and the softened strut-and-tie model are selected to be introduced and analyzed. After examining the applicability of two typical models mentioned earlier to interior beam-column joints, several adjustments are made to get better predicting of the test results. For the softened strut-and-tie model, four adjustments including modifications of the depth of the diagonal strut, the inclination angle of diagonal compression strut, the smeared stress of mild steel bars embedded in concrete, as well as the softening coefficient are made. While two adjustments for the inelastic reinforced concrete joint model including modifications of the confinement effect due to the column axial load and the correction coefficient for high concrete are made. It has been proved by test data that predicted results by the improved softened strut-and-tie model or the modified inelastic reinforced concrete joint model are consistent with the test data and conservative. Based on the test results, it is also not difficult to find that the improved beam-column joint model can be used to predict the joint carrying capacity and cracks development with sufficient accuracy.
This study were obtained elapsed time phase-by-phases, displacement, user angle, velocity and angular velocity to analyse kinematically contributing factors at impact of forehand drive motion, on targeting three male players. The results of the study were presented as follows; In the forehand drive swing, the elapsed time by phases was a total of .52 seconds: .30 seconds from backswing to impact and .22 seconds from impact to follow-through, Considering the mean change in locations of COM of each(part$\rightarrow$body segment) at impact, racket head, left shoulder, right wrist and left hip, the left-right directions(X-axis) were showm to be each $.61{\pm}.03$, $1.19{\pm}.08$, $.66{\pm}.03$, $.94{\pm}.06$, and $.45{\pm}.03m$. The displacement differences of COM of each body segment were shown to be -.57, -.05, -.33, and .16m. For the vertical direction(Z-axis), the center of mass was lowest at impact and highest at E3. For the displacement of the right wrist on the left hip, the right wrist moved to .82m to the lower direction without change in the locations of the hip from E1 from E2. When the left hip moved .02m from E2 to E3, the right wrist moved .7m in the upper direction. In respect to the velocity of each body segment, the hip and the shoulder joint accelerated and then the wrist followed. Then the right wrists of all the subjects and their racket heads showed maximum speed, and an effective swing was observed. At the angle of each part, the angle of the right wrist was the smallest at the backswing and the largest at the moment of the impact. Then it increased gradually in the follow-through section. In respect of angular velocity for subject A, the hip moved and the largest change occurred. Immediately before the impact, the subject made a swing using his right wrist, his hip, and the shoulder joint, showing the maximum value, which was judged to be effective.
Patellofemoral pain syndrome is the most common problem involving the knee, accounting for 25% of knee injuries. Repetitive, overuse activities cause increased force at the patellofemoral joint, resulting in pain during flexion and extension activities. Most research have been conducted in exploring the patellofemoral compressive force in gait, squat and lunges, even though in real cases, possibilities in landing exist. The purpose of this study was to compare the differences in patellofemoral compressive force according to two different height. Sixteen collegiate male students(age: 22.25 ${\pm}$ 3.30 yrs, height: 177.25 ${\pm}$ 4.44 cm, weight: 77.50 ${\pm}$ 8.18 kg) were chosen. The subjects performed drop landings in 45 cm, 60 cm. The findings demonstrated that higher height showed peak knee extension moment, quadriceps contraction force, patellofemoral compressive force with increased VGRF. Regarding the patellofemoral joint compressive force, it increased by quadriceps contraction force with knee flexion during landing, yet, it showed no difference in maximal knee flexion. To minimize patellofemoral joint stress and reduce the likelihood of developing PFPS, we recommend that predesigned quadriceps and hip muscle group strengthening are needed during conditioning and training.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the knee and ankle joint kinematics and kinetics by comparing downhill walking with valley-shape combined slope walking. Method: Eighteen healthy men participated in this study. A three-dimensional motion capture system equipped with eight infrared cameras and a synchronized force plate, which was embedded in the sloped walkway, was used. Obtained kinematic and kinetic parameters were compared using paired two-tailed Student's t-tests at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The knee flexion angle after the mid-stance phase, the mean peak knee flexion angle in the early swing phase, and the ankle mean peak dorsiflexion angle were greater during downhill walking compared with valley-shape combined slope walking (p < 0.001). Both the mean peak vertical ground reaction force (GRF) in the early stance phase and late stance phase during downhill walking were smaller than those values during valley-shape combined slope walking. (p = 0.007 and p < 0.001, respectively). The mean peak anterior GRF, appearing right after toe-off during downhill walking, was also smaller than that of valley-shape combined slope walking (p = 0.002). The mean peak knee extension moment and ankle plantar flexion moment in late stance phase during downhill walking were significantly smaller than those of valley-shape combined slope walking (p = 0.002 and p = 0.015, respectively). Conclusion: These results suggest that gait strategy was modified during valley-shape combined slope walking when compared with continuous downhill walking in order to gain the propulsion for lifting the body up the incline for foot clearance.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematic factors and throwing variables for the 3-turn and 4-turn techniques and for release as well as to provide technical advice for improving athletic performance in hammer throwing. Data analysis led to the following conclusions: To increase the rotation speed for the 3-turn and 4-turn techniques, the time elapsed during the 1-foot support period should be decreased the distance between the rotating foot and the rotation axis should be small and the height of the hip joint should be increased at the times of release The throwing angle at the moment of release should be more than 40 degrees, and the throwing position should be taken vertically high at the shoulder joints. To accelerate the motion of the hammer, the speed should not be reduced during the 1-foot support period but should be increased during the 2-foot support period for much greater acceleration. In the 3-turn technique, the angles of the shoulder axis and hummer string should be dragged angle at the maximum point and lead angle at the minimum point, and dragged angle at the maximum and minimum points in the 4-turn at the time of relase The upper body should be quickly bent backward, the knee angle should be extended, and the angles of the shoulder axis and hammer string should be dragged angle close to 90 degrees.

Prosthetic replacement is one of the most common methods of reconstruction after resection of malignant tumor around the knee. Gait analysis provides a relative objective data about the gait function of patients with prosthesis. The purpose of this study was to compare the gait pattern of the patients who underwent limb salvage surgery with prosthesis for distal femur and that of patients with prosthesis for proximal tibia. This study included ten patients (4 males, 6 females, mean age 22.7 years, range 14-36) who underwent a wide resection and Kotz hinged modular reconstruction prosthesis replacement and six normal adult(Control). The site of bone tumor was the distal femur (Group 1) in six patients and proximal tibia (Group 2) in 4 patients. The follow-up period ranged from 15 to 82 months (mean : 33 months). The evaluation consisted of clinical assessment, radiographic assessment, gait analysis using VICON 370 Motion Analysis System. The gait analysis included the linear parameters such as, walking velocity, cadence, step length, stride length, stance time, swing time, single support and double support time and the three-dimensional kinematics (joint rotation angle, velocity of joint rotation) of ankle, knee, hip and pelvis in sagittal, coronal and transverse plane. For the kinetic evaluation, the moment of force (unit: Nm/kg) and power (unit: Watt/kg) of ankle, knee and hip joint in sagittal, coronal and transverse plane. In the linear parameters, cadence, velocity, step time and single support were decreased in both group 1 and group 2 compared with control. Double support decreased in group 2 compared with control significantly(p<.05). In contrast to our hypothesis, there was no significant difference between group 1 and group 2. In Kinematics, we observed significant difference (p<.05) of decreased knee flexion in loading response (G2
The purpose of this study was to clarify the differences between the K-pop and B-boy dancers'characteristics based on the biomechanical variables through the isolation movement by independent variable t-test using spss 18.0. As a result, first, the CoM composite displacement of the K-pop dancer was larger than that of the B-boy(p<.05) in phase1 and phase2. Second, in phase2 and phase3, the movement speed of CoM was faster in K-pop dancer than in B-boy(p<.05). Third, in phase1, the planar angle between the body and pelvis was greater in the right planar angle of the K-pop dancer, while in the phase2 and phase3, the left planar angle of the B-boy was larger(p<.05). Fourth, the composite hip joint moments of B-boy were larger than those of K-pop in phase1, However, K-pop dancers showed greater moments in phase2, phase3 and phase4, and ankle joint moments in phase3(p<.05). Thus, even with the same isolation, we found that K-pop and B-boy dancers performed differently.
The jib system with middle strut is widely used to achieve the large arm length in the large scale tower crane and the deployability in the mobile construction crane. In this paper, an analytical solution for the out-of-plane buckling of the jib system with middle strut is proposed. To obtain the analytical expression of the buckling characteristic equation, the method of differential equation was adopted by establishing the bending and torsional differential equation of the jib system under the instability critical state. Compared with the numerical solutions of the finite element software ANSYS, the analytical results in this work agree well with them. Therefore, the correctness of the results in this work can be confirmed. Then the influences of the lateral stiffness of the cable fixed joint, the dip angle of the strut, the inertia moment of the strut, and the horizontal position of the cable fixed joint on the out-of-plane buckling behavior of the jib system were investigated.
