Characteristics of $Er^{3+}$ Doped Fiber Source with an optical isolator for Fiber Optic Gyroscope (Optical isolator 삽입에 따른 자이로스코프용 $Er^{3+}$ 첨가 광섬유광원의 특성)

  • Isolator가 삽입된 Erbium 첨가 광섬유광원을 제작하였고 그 특성을 측정하였다. Isolator 삽입 유무에 따른 광섬유광원의 전 온도구간($-32^{\sim}75^{\circ}C$)에서의 중심파장 안정도는 수 ppm으로 큰 차이를 보이지 않았고, 귀환광 변화($-22^{\sim}-20dB$)에 따른 중심파장 안정도에서는 isolator 삽입이후에 1.6ppm으로 귀환광 변화에 매우 둔감한 결과를 얻었다.

  • The isolation performance of a linear vibration isolator is limited to the ratio of stiffness to mass it supports. The stiffness of the isolator must be large enough to hold the weight. This results in the deterioration of the isolation performance. Recently, to overcome this fundamental limitation, the HSLDS(high-static-low-dynamic-stiffness) magnetic vibration isolator was introduced and its isolation characteristic was investigated theoretically. In this paper, the isolation performance of the HSLDS magnetic isolator is examined experimentally. Considerable amount of experiments are performed by carefully considering nonlinear characteristics. The experimental results verify the practical usability promisingly and agree with the theoretical studies, i.e. its performance is largely dependent on the key design parameter.

  • Vibration disturbances generated by reaction wheels may cause serious problems in high precision pointing spacecraft missions. Implementation of vibration isolator is a practical solution to meet the high pointing stability requirement placed on precision payloads. In this paper, development of hybrid vibration isolator that combines passive and active component is described. Vibration isolation performance of the developed isolator is evaluated using reaction wheel disturbance model. Hybrid isolation results obtained using FxLMS algorithm show clear improvement compared to the results obtained using only passive means.

  • Fly-wheel, Gimbal antenna, CMG, Spaceborne cyrocooler generate micro-vibration during their on-orbit operation as well as implementing their own function. To comply with the mission requirement of high resolution observation satellite, additional technical efforts have been required to isolate the micro-vibration derived from such payloads by applying the vibration isolator. In this study, we proposed a passive isolator using SMA mesh washer, which guarantees the structural safety of both micro-vibration disturbance source and itself under harsh launch vibration loads without an additional holding mechanism and the micro-vibration isolation performance on orbit environment. To verify the micro-vibration isolation performance of the proposed vibration isolator, we performed the micro-vibration isolation measurement test using the dedicated micro-vibration measurement device proposed in this study.

  • In this paper, a hybrid-type vibration isolator which has air chamber(spring) and viscous damper in series is developed. The developed vibration isolator is designed to perform 3 following functions : spring function for normal operating conditions, damping function to reduce an impact for sudden move of upper beam, and finally leveling function. Based on the given natural frequency and damping factor, the design procedure is proposed. The performance of the developed isolator is tested by measuring stiffness and damping.

  • Topology optimization of improved passive shock isolator by controlling its force-deflection relation is proposed. And the final design which is optimized using topology optimization is obtained using shape optimization. The proposed methods are applied to a numerical example using two dimensional-axisymmetric condition. And the performance of finally optimized design is verified through transient analysis using LS-DYNA. The ballistic shock isolator model is developed as a result of topology optimization. The optimized design has more improved shock absorbing capability comparing to the linear shock isolator by about 20%.

  • Numerical studies were carried out to investigate the mechanical properties of competent hysteric isolators for seismic design of bridge. For dynamic analysis, bridges with isolator were simplified to a model with single degree of freedom. The initial stiffness and the yielding forces of hysteric isolators were varied. Seismic responses obtained by time history analysis show that about 4% of the weight acting as the inertia force is appropriate for the yielding force of isolator. And also better results could be achieved with the values about two times the weight per unit displacement for the initial stiffness of isolator.

  • Design of experiments based on Taguchi's orthogonal array is utilized for exploring the design space and for building response surface models of insulator and isolator database in order to facilitate the effective solution of multi-objective optimization commonly occurred in NVH problems. Response surface models, called engineering database of design space, provide an efficient means to rapidly model the trade-off among many conflicting NVH goals in automotive. In the design of insulator and isolator in automotive interior part, it is important not only to construct effective matrices of NVH but also to build up engineering database of current products. The experimental design especially based on orthogonal array and the nonlinear optimization algorithms are successfully used together to obtain the optimal design of insulator and isolator. The $2^{nd}$ order response surface models of absorption coefficient and insertion loss are constructed by using modified Taguchi's $L_{12}2^13^7$ orthogonal array and successfully used in optimal design of insulator and isolator.

  • In general, seismic isolators which are made of laminated rubber and shim plate have characteristics of complex hysteretic behavior. When shear deformation of the seismic isolator is small, the isolator hassimple hysteretic almost bi-linear behabior. But on large shear deformation hardening effects may occur. This paper proposes a moldeling method of the seimic isolator with modified hysteretic bi-linear model which can consider the hardening effects. From the results of the seismic analyses of the isolated system it is shown that the responses are singificantly reduced compared with those of the non-isolated system. The modified hysteretic bi-linear model of the isolator gives larger ZPA(zero period acceleration) than those of the simple hysteretic bi-linear model and the equivalunt spring-damper model.

  • Micro-vibration induced by on-board equipments such as fly-wheel and cryogenic cooler with mechanical moving parts affects the image quality of high-resolution observation satellite. Micro-vibration isolation system has been widely used for enhancing the pointing performance of observation satellites. In general, the micro-vibration isolation system requires a launch locking mechanism additionally to guarantee the structural safety of mission payloads supported by the isolation system with low stiffness under launch environment. In this study, we propose a passive launch and on-orbit vibration isolation system using shape memory alloy mesh washers for the micro-vibration isolation of spaceborne compressor, which does not require the additional launch locking mechanism. The basic characteristics of the isolator were measured in static and free vibration tests of the isolator, and a simple equivalent model of the isolator was proposed. The effectiveness of the isolator design in a launch environment was demonstrated through sine vibration, random vibration and shock tests.
