The fabrication of a controlled surface is of great interest because it can be applied to various engineering facilities due to the various properties of the surface, such as self-cleaning, anti-bio-fouling, anti-icing, anti-corrosion, and anti-sticking. Controlled surfaces with micro/nano structures were fabricated using an ion beam focused onto a polypropylene (PP) surface with a fluoridation process. We developed a facile method of fabricating hydrophobic surfaces through ion beam treatment with argon and oxygen ions. The fabrication of low surface energy materials can replace the current expensive and complex manufacturing process. The contact angles (CAs) of the sample surface were $106^{\circ}$ and $108^{\circ}$ degrees using argon and oxygen ions, respectively. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy were used to determine the chemical composition of the surface. The morphology change of the surfaces was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The change of the surface morphology using the ion beam was shown to be very effective and provide enhanced optical properties. It is therefore expected that the prepared surface with wear and corrosion resistance might have a considerable potential in large scale industrial applications.
New approach for the determination of Ag(I) ion was performed by using a carbon paste electrode (CPE) containing N,N'-Diphenyl oxamide (DPO) with anodic stripping voltammetry. The CMEs have been prepared by making carbon paste mixtures containing an appropriate amount of DPO salt coated onto graphite particles to analyze trace metal ions via complexation followed by stripping voltammetry. Various experimental parameters affecting the response, such as pH, deposition time, temperature, and electrode composition, were carefully optimized. Using differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry, the logarithmic linear response range for the Ag(I) ion was 1.0 × $10^{-7}$ - 5.0 × $10^{-9}$ M at the deposition time of 10 min, with the detection limit was 7.0 × $10^{-10}$ M. The detection limit adopted from anodic stripping differential pulse voltammetry was 7.0 × $10^{-10}$ M for silver and the relative standard deviation was ± 3.2% at a 5.0 × $10^{-8}$ M of Ag(I) ion (n = 7). The proposed electrode shows a very good selectivity for Ag(I) in a standard solution containing several metals at optimized conditions.

The consequences of electrode density and thickness for electrochemical performance of lithium-ion cells are investigated using 2032-type coin half cells. While the cathode composition is maintained by 90:5:5 (wt.%) with $LiCoO_2$ active material, Super-P electric conductor and polyvinylidene fluoride polymeric binder, its density and thickness are independently controlled to 20, 35, 50 um and 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 g $cm^{-3}$, respectively, which are based on commercial lithium-ion battery cathode system. As the cathode thickness is increased in all densities, the rate capability and cycle life of lithium-ion cells become significantly worse. On the other hand, even though the cathode density shows similar behavior, its effect is not as high as the thickness in our experimental range. This trend is also investigated by cross-sectional morphology, porosity and electric conductivity of cathodes with different densities and thicknesses. This work suggests that the electrode density and thickness should be chosen properly and mentioned in detail in any kinds of research works.

Aggressive environmental conditions, and especially the acidic effects of sulfate ion penetration, have reduced the lifetime of concrete structures in some areas, especially coastal and marine areas. In this research, at first, samples made of type II and V cement were kept in a solution of magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) for a period of 90 and 180 days, the change of appearance. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), were used to analyze the microstructure and the complex mineral composition of the concrete after exposure to corrosive environments. Then solving the differential equation governing the sulfate ion penetration, which is based on the second Fick law, it has been tried to determine the concentration of sulfate ions inside the concrete. In the following, an attempt has been made to improve the prediction of sulfate ion concentration in concrete by using Crank's penetration equation. At the same time, the coefficient in the Crank's solution have been optimized by using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO algorithm). The comparison between the results shows that the values obtained from Crank's relation are closer to the experimental results than the equation obtained from Fick's second law and shows a more accurate prediction.

Different amounts of excess lithium in the range of x = 0~0.3 were added to $Li_{1+x}[Mn_{0.720}Ni_{0.175}Co_{0.105}]O_2$ cathode materials synthesized using the co-precipitation method to investigate its microstructure and electrochemical properties. Pure layered structure without impurities was confirmed in the XRD pattern analysis and increasing peak intensity of $Li_2MnO_3$ was observed along with the addition of over 0.2 mol Li. The initial discharge capacity of the stoichiometric composition was determined to be 246 mAh/g, while the discharge capacity of the addition of 0.1 mol Li was obtained to be 241 mAh/g, which was not significantly different from that of the stoichiometric composition. However, the discharge capacities decreased dramatically after the addition of 0.2 and 0.3 mol Li to 162 mAh/g and 146 mAh/g, respectively. In the rate capability test, the active $Li_{1+x}[Mn_{0.720}Ni_{0.175}Co_{0.105}]O_2$ cathode material of the stoichiometric composition showed a dramatic decrease in its discharge capacity with increasing C-rate, as evidenced by the result that the discharge capacity at 5C was 13% compared with 0.1C. On the other hand, the discharge capacity of compositions containing excess lithium was improved at higher current rates. The cycling test showed that the composition containing an excess of 0.1 mol Li had the most outstanding capacity retention.
Samples of size-fractionated PM10 (airborne particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter less than $10\mu\textrm{m}$) were collected at an urban site in Jeju city from May to September 2002. The mass concentration and chemical composition of the samples were measured. The data sets were then applied to the CMB receptor model to estimate the source contribution of PM10 in Jeju area. The average PM10 mass concentration was 28.80$\mu\textrm{g}/m^3$ ($24.6~33.49\mu\textrm{g}/m^3$), and the FP (fine particle with aerodynamic diameter less than $2.l\mu\textrm{m}$ fraction in PM10 was approximately 8% higher than the CP (coarse particle with aerodynamic diameter greater than $2.l\mu\textrm{m}$ and less than $10\mu\textrm{m}$ fraction in PM10. The CP composition was obviously different from the FP composition, that is, the most abundant water soluble species was nitrate ion in the FP, but sulfate ion in the CP. Also sulfur was the most dominant element in the FP, however, sodium was that in the CP. From CMB receptor model results, it was found that road dust was the largest contributor to the CP mass concentration (45% of the CP) and ammonium nitrate, domestic boiler, and marine aerosol were major sources to the CP mass. However, the secondary aerosol was the most significant contributor to the FP mass concentration (45% of the FP). In this study, it was suggested that the contributions of soil dust and gasoline vehicle became very low due to collinearity with road dust and diesel vehicle, respectively.
Objective: This experiment investigated the effects of dietary supplementation with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on the serum components, laying hen productivity, lipid composition of egg yolk, egg flavor and egg quality. Methods: Healthy 28-week-old Hy-Line white laying hens (n = 480) were divided randomly into 4 groups, 6 replicates/group, 20 birds/replicate. The 30-day experimental diets included 0% (control), 0.4%, 0.8%, and 1.6% CLA. Some serum indices of the birds, and egg production, quality, fatty acid composition, egg quality were measured. Results: The dietary supplementation with 0.4%, 0.8%, and 1.6% CLA did not significantly affect the laying rate and feed intake, as well as calcium ion and phosphorus ion concentration in serum (p>0.05). However, the CLA had significantly increased the strength of eggshell, decreased the odor, flavor, and taste of egg yolk, deepened the color of egg yolk, increased saturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids, and reduced the monounsaturated fatty acids (p<0.05). On the other hand, the dietary supplementation with 1.6% CLA had significant effects on feed/gain, and improved serum hormones. Dietary supplementation with 0.4% and 0.8% CLA can significantly enhance the activity of alkaline phosphates. Conclusion: CLA has no effect on production performance, but does enhance the lipid content of the egg yolk and the strength of the eggshell.
In order to further determine the mass concentration and ion composition of size-segregated particulate matter (PM) during the non-Asian dust storm of spring, $PM_{2.5}$ (fine particle), $PM_{10-2.5}$ (coarse particle), and $PM_{over-10}$ (PM with an aerodynamic diameter larger than $10{\mu}m$) were collected using a MCI (multi-nozzle cascade impactor) sampler of a three-stage filter pack in the spring season of 2007 in the Iksan area. During the sampling period from 5 April to 21 April, a total of 34 samples for size-segregated PM were collected, and then measured for PM mass concentrations by gravimetric measurements and for water-soluble inorganic ion species by using ion chromatography. Average mass concentrations of $PM_{2.5}$, $PM_{10-2.5}$, $PM_{over-10}$ were $35.4{\pm}11.5{\mu}g/m^3$, $13.3{\pm}5.5{\mu}g/m^3$ and $9.5{\pm}4.7{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. On average, $PM_{2.5}$ accounted for 74% of $PM_{10}$. Compared with the literature from other areas in Korea, the measured concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ were relatively high. Water-soluble inorganic ion fractions in $PM_{2.5}$, $PM_{10-2.5}$, and $PM_{over-10}$ were found to be 47.8%, 28.5%, and 14.7%, respectively. Among the water-soluble inorganic ion species, $SO_4^{2-}$, $NO_3^-$ and $NH_4^+$ were the main components in $PM_{2.5}$, while $NO_3^-$ dominantly existed in both $PM_{10-2.5}$ and $PM_{over-10}$. Non-seasalt $SO_4^{2-}$ (nss-$SO_4^{2-}$ and $NO_3^-$ were found to mainly exist as the neutralized chemical components of $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ and $NH_4NO_3$ in fine particles.
In this review, recent researches on ion transport phenomena in organic metal halide perovskite materials, which have been popular all over the world, are summarized. Although different results have been reported depending on the perovskite material composition and applied voltage, iodide seems to migrate under actual solar cell operating conditions, and occasionally methylammonium migration is observed. Perovskite is a so-called mixed conductor in which electrons and ions move simultaneously at room temperature, which greatly influences the hysteresis of the perovskite solar cell current-voltage curve and the performance degradation due to long-term operation.

The optimum polymer gel electrolyte composition ratio was 23 : 66 : 11 wt% of P(VdF-co-HFP) : PVP =20 : 3), (PC: EC =44 : 22) and TEABF$_4$. And the optimal thickness of polymer gel electrolyte was 50 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The electrochemical characteristics result of unit cell were 31.41 Fig of specific capacitance, and 3.21$\times$10$^{-3}$ S/cm of ion conductivity. Ion conductivity of polymer gel electrolytes decreased according to added PVP through impedance analysis, and it was higher in 7 wt%, but electrochemical characteristics of unit cell were better in 3 wt% PVP. And for excellent ion conductivity of polymer gel electrolytes, the use of a thin layer electrolyte(20 $\mu\textrm{m}$) was an effective method, but with unit cell application, the best thickness was 50 $\mu\textrm{m}$. Unit cell showed higher capacitance and more stable electrochemical performance when hot pressed between polymer gel electrolyte and electrode. This results from enhancement of the physical contact between the electrode and the polymer gel electrolyte and good accessibility of the liquid electrolyte to the electrode surface.
